Wow. The reason I don't want it even being left to vote is because nobody will ever let go of the Sioux nickname if a new one isn't chosen. Then, we will continually hear stupid stuff about it forever. And the NA office on campus will never shutup either. Sick of hearing them tell everyone how hostile the campus is even after it getting voted the #1 campus in country for NA's. I firmly believe that the issue and bickering/media grandstanding will never go away if a new name isn't chosen. That is my opinion.

They are working up marketing campaigns and logos for the remaining 5 right now. Just because you and others don't like the remaining 5 doesn't mean they need to hit reset.

The problem, as tends to happen, is that NDSU became the biggest fan base on their based on winning all their NC's. Therefore, the site suddenly was inundated with idiot rubes who know little to nothing about football but are "huge" Bison fans. So we all have to put up with it for the mean time. The part I hate is they comment on literally EVERYTHING. It could be a topic about the MEAC and they will chime in with their two cents.

Agreed, if they pick/vote North Dakota as the official nickname then the old slogan of "We are North Dakota" would flow well and could be easily reinstated.

Well, yah. The last 3 years was spent gearing towards picking a new nickname after the cool down period. That was planned and fully transparent. Of course they weren't going to spend exessive time on a name/slogan that was temporary.

We then evolved and said yes, according to the article, UND is fine with the OLD agreement. But, the NCAA then said they will re-visit it if problems arise with using the old nickname and not adopting a new one. Correct? hahahaha!!!

Based on their twitter accounts, sounds like they wanted to enjoy high school again (facepalm). Anybody who has gone to college would tell you that high school is a small memory after being on campus for 4-5 years. No comparison.

We all agreed that the NCAA wouldn't use the old agreement as their basis. They said as much.

The pattern is what he described before he said "it has become a pattern". Figure it out. You have absolutely no clue how a few of your coaches recruit, none. Some of us actually do. Is it all encompassing - no.

You don't believe anything that is brought up here. Is it possible that they act more than one way, depending on the recruit and time of the year? They talk to 100's of recruits every year and at the end of the year they start trying to steal other team kids to fill their class, like all staff's do. Hence the staying in contact with recruits. Just so happens that they have been trying to get UND's lately when they didn't 2-3 years ago. The guy laid out the entire conversation above and you don't believe it. Unreal.

Unfortunately, I feel there would be more than a few hockey fans that would gladly sign up for that option. Hockey stays D1 and name stays Sioux, rest of the sports to NAIA.

It's only been 4 years since we used the Sioux name last and now we are supposed to all the sudden "slow down" and unite. The nickname committee started in March and 6 months later we are only down to 5 names. That isn't slow enough for him after 5 years of knowing the name is gone?
