I was more impressed with the fact that the state of Washington is now part of Canada.

Had a conversation with a gopher fan on Friday night in the tent across fromm the X. Found out that TJ Oshie is Canadian because he is from Spokane(pronounced Spoke Cane), Washington, Canada and that Lamoreaux has to be Canadian(it didn't occur to him that the Lamoreaux's that play for the Gopher women were his sisters). Told him I wouldn't care if our entire team was Canadian as long as they continued to kick the gopher's a$$ year in and year out. He also told me he was happy UMD beat us because they also only have all Minnesota kids.

It would have been an interesting matchup as Rico could guard anyone and NDSU doesn't really have the type of player that Vonesh struggled against(Think Virginia Union..if I recall they had 4 or 5 guys who were athletic and active all over the court and quick to double the post and help out). As much as I hate to say it, this NDSU team would have been a real tough matchupup for the 1991 Sioux. UND didn't have the outside shooters needed, if you could of held Boschee back a year and had Todd Johnson on this team then it could have been a different story.

The autobids and the chip and a chair shot of the underdogs is what makes the NCAA tourney so great to watch especially when you take into account that there are no less than 20 teams and argueably as many as 25 or 26 teams in college basketball playing tonight and tomorrow night that are better than 15 teams in the "Dance"

The fact that more than 4 big 10 teams are getting in the hoops tourney is sad. I am working on a bet with a couple big 10 apologists for the tourney but so far they have been haggling a little too much. Lunardi had 8 big 10 teams getting in when we started discussing the bet. At that point I gave them a number of 3.5 as an over under on how many advance past round one and a number of 6.5 for total big ten wins in the dance, but we will see how many they actually get in.

It the Bison do get a 13 seed, they could do well if they get the right matchup. Illlinois would be perfect, a crappy plodding big 10 team and Marquette with them losing one of their 3 stud guards for the season coul be ripe. Washington is average, but the Bison would want nothing to do with Clemson, way too athletic.

Also not having Trupp for most of last weekend on the penalty kill and not having in my opinion our best penalty killing forward Gregiore today certainly throws things out of whack a little bit on the kill.
