  1. Woog does know hockey and is a great guy to talk to. I watched the replay of Saturday's game and Woog knew the game and what was up right when they lined up for the face off when he said and I quote exactly "Lucia HAS to go here" and then had to backtrack and join "the rug" and spin it for the FSN Gopher faithful when Little Lucia decided to skate away and as person who does know hockey I'm sure he was probably a little disappointed in his lack of testosterone.
  2. Don Adam is a perfect example of why it doesn't matter if WCHA officials open their mouths or not. They aren"t held accountable anyway. Although Don Adam was kept from doing UND games for a little while, he is back doing them again despite his babbling at Sugar's something to the effect of "I hate the Sioux and Matt Greene is a hack" and how he didn't mind sticking it to the Sioux whenever he gets the chance. Guess he doesn't feel that way anymore?
  3. Minnesota fans and media types have been babbling about 23 year old Canadians for years so they have repeated it so much they probably think it's true. One thing that I know is true is that you would have to look through alot of rosters to find any players who played in the WCHA that were older than 2 former Gophers. Dan Woog was 25 as a senior for the Gophers and Goalie Steve Debus was also 25 and had he come back for his 4th season would have been 26. Stu Bickel also happened to be a 21 year old freshman for the Golden Angels on Ice last season. One thing I think Lou nanne did get right was his statement "what alot of people tend to forget is physicality is also a talent and skill, but it's not a skill the gophers possess and UND excels at it."
  4. I thought Dane said that UND didn't offer him at this point?
  5. Whenever I see Hill interviewed I always think of this guy. Not sure why? Anyone else?
  6. I will back up your post and say that Doug Woog is a great guy, always willing to chat with fans from all teams and have a bump with them. Until last night, Tony Lucia was one of the Gophers that I respected and appreciated the fact that he played to game hard and got more out of his limited talent through hard work, but his actions last night were at best cowardly. John Hill is a joke. Nuff said. I think Joel Maturi should get a copy of Ross Bernstein's "The Code" and make it required reading for the players and coaching staff at the U of M-tc and maybe even have them tested on it's contents before they take the ice again.
  7. There is no league mandate to not schedule UND, the commissioner may suggest that they shouldn't be scheduled, but as you say it would take a league vote to institute a policy on not playing schools with nickname issues.
  8. If he is lying about it, that just goes to his character, and Douple is covering for his arrogance. or If he isn't lying about it and it is the Summit Conferences official policy(concerning the nickname) then it should be investigated as to whether Gene Taylor and/or President Chapman did one of the following a. fully supported UND's efforts to gain conference affiliation b. recused themselves from any and all discussion of the matter c. actively worked to block UND's entrance to the Summit If the answer is C, then the state of North Dakota should be working on a severance package for either or both of them.
  9. Does the open records law apply in this case? If so then how bout a reporter or 2 get the transcripts of any and all emails and minutes from any meetings held as "the Summit League" and see when and where and which league members said what in regards to UND joining the Summit and also with regard to scheduling The Sioux in athletic contests. If this is done, I think Chapman and Taylor may have some explaining to do to their employer...the problem is they seem to think that they are self-employed and don't answer to the NDBOE and the university system and only go to them with their handout.
  10. Me too...it's the crap that the Gopher teams have been notorious for over the years like the after the whistle crosscheck, slash, facewash, etc. cuz I know the play is dead and the linesmen will be here in a second to protect me while I talk smack over his shoulder that Sioux fans don't care for...especially when it's not backed up.
  11. Ahh yes. Gopher tough guy hockey returns to the Ralph! Lots of "half-assed" crosschecks and slashes after the whistle, a few face rubs and my favorite the trash talking over the shoulder of the linesman! Fantastic stuff!
  12. I heard that Goldy is actually Woog's son Dan Woug!
  13. Unfortunately I think we are a ways off from that happening.
  14. It is what it was. The Debacle in Detroit. Now we move on. The Sioux still have goals to try and attain this year and they are still attainable....just harder to reach now. Finish in top 4 of wcha(or 5)---home ice for first round of the playoffs Win the WCHA Move onto the national tournament Win number 8. Last time I checked, none of these have been scratched off yet.
  15. Porter?
  16. OK I agree, the Gophers are very mediocre and Kangas bails them out game in and game out. Happy?
  17. The smahht kids were going to the bahhx so often in the 3rd period I was starting to wonder if maybe their tutor was in their?
  18. Well they also referred to Duncan as a large physical forward.
  19. Anybody else who is watching believe that Harvards rink is larger than The Ralph? I tseems smaller than the DECC but according to USCHO it is actually 204 x 87.
  20. I think Hoeffel has had a couple injuries? I remember seeing him play with the USDT team a couple years ago against UND and that night he was the best player on the Ice for them.
  21. I like it alot. Nothing could live up to Appetite, but this is a pretty good effort! Better is a great track, but I like If the World myself!
  22. UMKC beat Bradley tonight at FGCU.
  23. Chinese Democracy!
  24. My take. I'm not a hockey expert, but I play one on message boards! I went into the year thinking that while UND would not have the go to line that we have had the past few years that we had the talent and depth to be able to roll 4 lines out there that would be better than most teams number 2 lines and that we would need to play with speed and pace to take advantage of this depth and wear other teams out and force their 3rd and 4th lines to play more minutes and this would ultimately lead to UND wearing teams down over the course of the game. Unfortunately with the stricter enforcement of obstruction and interference which would have helped us greatly in the past, has not helped us this season and not because calls are going against us or in our favor, but the excessive calls have killed the pace in so many games and all the stops in play and faceoffs have negated our depth advantage as all the breaks in play allow everyone to get extra rest and depth does not become as much of a factor as it could be. That said, when we have had a favorable pace in games, we are missing empty nets, making poor "payoff" passes and fumbling scoring opportunities and that needs to improve. These next 4 non-conference games are huge and we need to relax and let shots go and try and force the pace to take advantage of speed and aggression and get on track for the stretch run....if that fails Plan B Load up 2 lines with the most talented offensive players(Duncan, VDV, Hextall, Toews, Gregiore, and either Trupp or Kozek) we have instead of trying to balance our lines and tell the other 6 forwards dressed each night that their main job is to not get scored on, it's ugly, but it allowed Minnesota to be competitive last season and has worked with varying degrees of success for Wisconsin over the years and seeeed to work out OK for us in 1997.
  25. Not arguing any of that. When players don't perform they get benched and are held accountable. when refs screw up and don't know the rules of the game they get paid to ref they get suspended or at least have in the past? Just wondering if Daddy Shep will hold his kid to the same standards that he held Randy Schmidt to last year?
