  1. And he could absolutely mash a softball, but unfortunately for our team his love of golf superseded softball and he only played a couple years for us. He hits a golf ball further than most people go on vacation.
  2. True. And who watches KVLY anymore. They have become TMZ or National Enquirer TV
  3. Interesting strategy Cotton. So the school obsessed with everything UND, hence the earned Marcia, Marcia, Marcia label tries out the old I know you are but what am I technique. And to make it worse he does it at the expense of the weakest minded poster on the site.
  4. It was 1979. I think I had Larimore in my mind due to Eddie Beyer coaching in region 2. To finish the story, Eddie asked my buddy Pete Jahner how Linton would be in 1984 and Pete says they should be pretty good and Coach Beyer said he should have a good crop that year as well. So they bet that if they happened to meet in 84 that the loser owed the other a coke....so sure enough Linton(my former residence) and Hillsboro(my birthplace) meet in the state tourney and Linton narrowly wins and would eventually win the state title a couple nights later. After the game, Ed Beyer walks into Linton locker room and congratulates Dan Carr and their team, looks at Dennis Beck and just shakes his head and turns and hands Pete a coke.
  5. I think the biggest "what if" team would be the Lamoure Loboes in 75 and 76....In 76, they went undefeated and walked through the state tournament without really being challenged.(I am pretty sure they won every game by double digits if not 20 points or more). I believe in 75, they were undefeated until the regional semi final or final when Fullerton who they had beaten 2 or 3 times that season took the air out of the ball and beat them something like 22-18 to advance to the state tourney.
  6. Possibly....but if not for the Divide County coach's poor decisions, they could have easily had none.
  7. You are right. I had my title games turned around but marlon Bell played for Halliday.
  8. Not sure if I related story on this our not, but the previous year, Larimore beat what had looked like an unbeatable Halliday team in the title game. My best friend from Linton and I(I had moved to Bismarck 2 years earlier) were given rides to the games by Hillsboro coach Eddie Beyer(family friend) and lost friendly bet on title game. Long story, short....Ed Beyer had inside information as to the condition of the Halliday team due to their activities on Friday night. If I remember, Marlon Bell went to BJC to play hoops, threw in around 25-30 a game up until first semester grades came out and was never heard from again.
  9. Dean Blais did this at the World Juniors when Kristo and the rest won the Gold.
  10. Played Baseball against those guys.
  11. Probably shouldn't say but the player in question was from out East. Sidd Finch and he is a wide out. heard he was a pretty good baseball player as well.
  12. I can assure you it is. I am still a little shaken up from the initiation ceremony.
  13. Cowboy defender also had a handful of jersey earlier in the play. On the 4th down conversion to Witten the NFL has also now admitted they "missed" the bear hug on Suh which would have made it 4th and very long. Also on the penalty on Levy where he tackled the dallas runningback on the screen play and Romo completed the pass to him laying on the ground...on that same play the Detroit rusher coming up the middle has the Cowboy lineman's hand grabbing his facemask which would have been 15.
  14. I think some of it had to do with Insurance Companies.
  15. Sometimes it works out if a player is in a role that makes him learn to be responsible enough in his own zone that his college coach will trust him....ie Jonny Brodzinski who saw 3rd line minutes and little power play time with the Force. Might be something to playing in the NAHL as well. Taylor Richart(Miami) could have played for the Force his first year out of high school but as an undersized D-man he would have been the 7th or 8th D-man, he went to Aberdeen for a year and was their number #1 D-man, played on the power play and kill and hit the weight room. went to Fargo the following year and was usually on the first D-pair with Cooper.(UNO)...really comes down to which is better for the kid, ice time and/or refine some skills you probably didn't have to use much in high school.
  16. Well, I was there a little bit earlier in time. Mid to late 80"s. Things have changed for sure. Kegs were still allowed. We would have All Campus Parties about every 3 weeks, pretty normal to go through 15-20 barrels at those. Cowboy party with hay bales and live animals walking around(ducks, geese, pigs) Thankfully we didn't have today's technology back then! Fall rush week was 4 days of every house on campus with kegs on the front lawn and you could barely drive on University Avenue at night.
  17. Unfortunately you could park the limos on the lot my house used to stand on.
  18. This ain't Mariucci. Unbelievable how many times you have people going in and out all game long while the puck is in play.
  19. Were you looking at the 2 fake Boeser twitter accounts or did you request for him to let you follow his actual twitter?
  20. He just doesn't really know what is going on. Gersich is playing in USHL for Omaha this year, has a prior relationship with the USDT as he played with them last year. Called up wouldn't really be accurate, filling in would be the answer.
  21. My 2 cents. Their goalie has been pretty lights out most of the year. I would say as a group, they probably have the most talented 12 forwards in NCHC if not college hockey. Welenski is a stud on the blue line for them but other than that they are pretty average there. Watched quite a few of these guys play for The Force. From the Force alum, Toninato is a pretty good finisher, Iafallo is a very good center and sees the ice real well, and Farley is a waterbug, fast and quick and probably runs his lips as much as Rau. He will agitate and try and draw penalties with some chippy stuff and he is not afraid to embellish or create a penalty out of thin air. Willie Corrin on D is a pretty tough kid but not overly skilled. I liked all these guys for the Force...should be a great series!

    FBS games

Not much chirping today as the #6 Big 10 team is currently getting housed by 5 touchdowns to the #12 SEC squad.
  23. Not sure what you mean? I was at a secret meeting of the GOBC and they told me this was the Worthy Grand Exalted Poobah Leader or something like that and as part of my initiation I had to show reverence? Did I mix them up? They gave me 2 pictures, one was of the guy they said was the usher who would let me in the secret door as long as I knew the secret phrase and secret handshake and the other picture was of a guy with a really cool really tall hat.
  24. Whoa! Pump the brakes. How and the hell did you manage to spell Forte correctly?
