Just reading the last few pages of this thread is an absolute confirmation that the process failed and now we are forced to settle for a name that will be far less than The University of North Dakota deserves. Obviously Nodaks and Sundogs are embarrassingly terrible. Roughriders will probably be the "winner" when it is all said and done and it is stale at best. North Stars is far and away the best name left but it is the name of a neighboring state....Stars would have been better. May vote for this with hopes that over time the fans will unofficially shorten it. Similar to how both Fighting Sioux and Sioux have been used over the years. Fighting Hawks has some logo potential but would have again been better selection if it was a color such as white or green, just Hawks, or a different descriptive term like Prairie or Night or went with Peregrines or Prairie Falcons...currently my second choice. Many better selections were eliminated during the process which is unfortunate. I actually like The University of North Dakota Kelly which kind of organically came up in a thread the other day. Allows quite a bit of latitude for a logo much like the Wild.

Hell of an entertaining game to watch! Bison D needs a little work but I think that was expected. Had the over and Montana +14.5 so the Grizz win was icing on the cake although it would have been better if I had just picked them outright. I get UND fans being happy about the result but those were probably 2 teams we aren't going to beat this year.

Hey numbnuts. I was in favor of a new nickname from the start and will vote for 1 of these remaining even though the selection ain't great. Which name will you be vot....oh nevermind. Like I said you really struggle in understanding what you read. Might want to get that checked out, they may have pills for that.

If not for the 7 out of 10 rule I would agree.

I have no problem with the voting process.....the issue is with a lack of leadership. If you decide to remove North Dakota from consideration which should have been done at the start of this process what is stopping you from narrowing it down further and getting rid of truly terrible names like Sundogs and Nodaks. Just say "after conferring with our marketing and branding experts we have decided to remove these selections"

Incompetent. Even now he can't make a decision and narrow it down to a couple names or remove a couple names which would seem to indicate they have still not researched a branding and marketing strategy for whatever the name ends up being. You can't even make it up.

Obviously UND needs to follow suit and do this for all sports as well. For now the fact they are doing this for women's hockey instead of women's volleyball and/or women's basketball is completely asinine.

HEY! I think you stumbled onto something. UND Kelly. Just like the Stanford Cardinal. We can then pick anything we want for a mascot and logo. Give me the night to think about this. Nice Work Benny!

I realize you are an interested observer(i.e., non-alum, non-student, non-stakeholder, non-faculty) in UND's Name and as such you should do a little less typing and a lot more reading and observing. Thank you now.

I can post something and you can read it but I can't make you understand or comprehend it. They don't have to throw the baby out with the bathwater here....just rewind a couple steps in the process and tweak the order of the process.

Going back and creating a process to choose a new nickname? Yes without a doubt that is what is best for UND. The first try failed. Learn from it and try again.

I agree. I never said UND cannot be the Roughriders? It is 1 of 2 names left that I could live with. Like it...no, love it....no. Live with it...I guess

Idiotic take. I have gear with UND, and North Dakota, and Fighting Sioux on it. I will continue to wear these items to UND sporting events in the future. Doesn't matter if we decide to go with THE University of North Dakota or one of the crappy names we have left to choose from. I will also continue to buy apparel with UND and The University of North Dakota, and the interlocking UND on it but would never buy anything with a new logo or name on it due to the steaming pile we have left(I am assuming North Stars won't be the choice) to choose from. I was and am in favor of choosing a new nickname. Unfortunately the process failed this time, rewind a bit and get it right so we don't do this again in 5 years. As far as cheering I would imagine myself and others will still be cheering "Let Go Sioux" for the next 20-30 years but that would happen whether we remain just North Dakota or choose a crappy nickname.

Marquette. If you think that the make-up of fans at UND sporting events is really going to change much over the next 5-10 years you are mistaken. And quit including GF Central in the conversation.....it has no relevance.

Tell the NCAA we have chosen to be referred to as The University of North Dakota. Everything else you said is the same.
