Realistically, basketball, which also has a bigger appeal than hockey in a national sense. Our fanbase for hockey may be bigger in all considerations, but that doesn't mean UND is noticed more by the larger part of the nation. With their success in FCS football, more people probably know more about NDSU than UND and could very well not know the difference lol. We all need to have a little bit of perspective haha. Like JohnBoy said, it's not really a big deal, though.

I agree with all of this, especially the bolded part. UND is good at hockey, a niche sport, and NDSU is good at FCS football, a niche sport, but with broader appeal. Nothing to really get our knickers in a twist about.

Really interested in Singleton. When he committed, all I heard was potential first rounder and that feels like it's definitely peaked. Hopefully he surprises everyone. The talent seems to be there.

YES. A big reason why I'm very excited for this season.

Not true at all. It is WAY harder to win a title than it used to be. Simple fact, honestly. That doesn't change the fact that teams get hot and win titles. In UMD's first title of their back-to-back, if you remember, they barely made the tournament and got hot. That happens. What DU and UMD have done is stay consistent. They are in the hunt at the end of the year every single season. UND is the same way. Once you get in, it's four games to bring it home and the most talented team, the one with the highest draft picks, doesn't always win (ie: Michigan, BU). Good recruiting keeps you consistently in the hunt. As much as people want us to win a title every year, it's just simply harder now than it used to be.

I'm not sure I've ever actually said that. Shaugs was the only one where I know we didn't offer and thus, would imply, we didn't really have a spot for him. No excuses other than other teams are trying for these kids, too. I'm very happy with our pipeline. Do I wish we've gotten more of our targets? Absolutely. With that said, our pipeline is really, really good and we have a couple big timers still on the hook, but have to keep battling. I agree with you that NIL is a big deal and the program will need to stay competitive there. Getting a Big 10 education is hardly a reason that a guy like Cooley picked the U over UND, however.

Whoops....

Again, I think you're relying on anecdotal evidence. The world is a different place from when we were young. The radio stations are now on the internet with iHeart Radio. All games are streamed through NCHC.tv. I certainly understand you don't like what you see, but UND is still elite in college hockey.

This line blows me away. #factz
-
Definitely agree with this. With that said, even if we don't, it will be disappointing. That doesn't change our pipeline after this season, however. UND is recruiting very. very well right now.
-
Again, it's just not true. Many, many, many bars play UND hockey games, every single game. Again, so much anecdotal evidence for you to want to beg us into your premise of us not being an elite program. I don't really understand your motivation. If you don't enjoy UND's current recruiting pipeline, I don't really know what else I can say to convince you otherwise.
-
This is just not true.
-
So, I'm confused.... you just said that we wouldn't be elite anymore if we don't land a couple of the guys on this list someone on here put together. Which one is it? Can it be both?!?!?!
-
LOL @ the idea of a Big 10 education for a blue chippa recruit. *** Moves goal post, again ***
-
*** Moves goal post***

Who on here is saying that NCAA titles don't matter? If you can find ONE, please show me because that is dumb. Most on here are saying that it's WAY harder to win a title now than it used to be. There are those that don't want to recognize that. So be it.
-
We already landed a top tier recruit in Boisvert. So, if we get one more, two more, etc.... would you then consider us elite? Feels like we keep moving the goalposts to satisfy people getting grumpy when we don't win a title.

Yes, I'd think it was common sense, but I don't have an indelible proof of that being how it works at that particular Scheels. Hockey is a JV sport compared to football on many, many levels. So, there is a large population of people who don't watch UND hockey. With all of that said, UND hockey and NDSU football are basically 1 and 1a in regards to the most popular sport in the state and it goes back and forth all the time. Your anecdotal look at the Minot Scheels hardly gleans any insight in whether or not "no one cares about UND sports as much anymore compared to the Ag school" I'd say the logo is certainly not helping sales of UND apparel, no doubt. But, I don't think the two options you listed are the primary reasons.

It's football season. NDSU is the toast of the state in football. Pretty simple, honestly.

This made me LOL

Hey man, I'll give it a go.... Sweatt, Vlassopolous, Crabb, Testawuide, Krushelnyski, Stowkewych, Duggie Lagrone, Fejes, Kivihalme, Gooch, Cruickshank ... I left a couple of good ones out, too!
-
I always thought that was CC's thing. Wamzgans always stood out to me lol.
-
Diego Buttazzoni?? Ok.... so, we have to have this guy on our team. I don't even care if he's any good
-
Shocking lol

Wtf?! Are there COVID restrictions? Watching the game the other night, I just assumed, but that tweet would indicate to me that there aren't. That's ridiculous.
