  1. I'd say the Frozen Faceoff is their biggest rival, it's 10-0 vs the Mavs
  2. How dare you besmirch Gerby like that. Karl is a diehard that rides for his team no matter what #warriors
  3. Would love to jump BU as we seem to have been much better this year when we’re able to match lines. And it’d be critical to match with Celebrini and Hutson as they change games. It’d be nice if the only team we have to worry about is BC, if we even have to play them in the title game potentially.
  4. Playing devils advocate, Why would hak have gotten it done in 2015-16 when he didn’t with Duncan oshie toews zajac Stafford, the pony line, etc? I’d say it’s a rather large logical leap to assume in parallel universe hak would have gotten it done when the one knock against him was that his teams didn’t get it done for over a decade in the frozen four, no matter how good they were in the regular season. And I am of the opinion he was a great college coach(but so is Berry). It’s incredible to me how this board has revisionist history regarding Haks legacy. After every frozen four letdown the cries for him to be fired were louder and louder. And after 2015 they were at a fever pitch. Then he went to the nhl and proved his legitimacy and now everyone seems to conveniently forget how chastised he was while at UND.
  5. I hate to keep this discussion going because it’s feeding a few known trolls but banners are what define this program. We can agree on that. We love wins and success but we like to see banner raising ceremonies to measure success. League titles and NCAA are the big ones. Hakstol who just coached his 500th NHL game was 3 for 11 on league titles and 0 for 11 on NCAA titles. Berry has won 5 of 9 league titles and is 1 for 9 on NCAA titles. Can we all agree Hakstol was a pretty damn good college coach which has translated to the best league in the world? Then, by extension can we agree Berry is also a damn good coach as he’s raised more of those banners than Hak? I’m not saying he’s definitively better but he’s on the same level.
  6. It’s not very often I learn something new about UND hockey but that’s a cool stat. Thanks for sharing
  7. This could have changed but I believe in the past the committee takes the approach that “a flight is a flight”. So because DU would have to get on a plane it doesn’t matter that SF is closer.
  8. Straw man, that argument was never presented so you’re arguing against a wall right now
  9. Despite this boards belief that Berry couldn’t coach his way out of a paper bag, UND has now won the league title in the toughest conference in the country more times than they haven’t. Thank God he still has some of Hak’s recruits.
  10. I was sitting across from the Pepsi center in the bar watching it on tv. We drove up to go to the game but couldn’t find a scalper with a ticket for under $200 or something. On principal I let them eat their tickets and it was a good decision. To be fair it was a nice goal by marto, just didn’t matter one iota
  11. Even looking back to the 2016 title, that fluky little goal from the point that the goalie just got a piece but it still managed to find its way in. You maybe see one goal like that all year.
  12. I've only re-watched every tournament game in its entirety a dozen or more times
  13. I think we've beat Michigan and Quinnipiac in the NCAAs in the same year... just struggling to remember which year
  14. Especially if we are lucky enough to enjoy another year of Blake.
  15. While I agree it's likely they stay there, one thing to keep in mind is those percentages don't account for conference tourneys.
  16. I kinda doubt he’ll be wearing a wings jersey
  17. Not sure if you're being dense or deliberately obtuse to not understand how much more pressure is on you playing for UND vs Quinnipiac.
  18. Funnier than Bast turtling away from the UND program to a sub .500 one because he couldn't hack it?
  19. Completely agree. He was at the point of his development that he could take games over single handedly and no one could skate with him. Very few players at UND have had that ability. And the fact that he was injured diving across the crease to save a goal that clinched a 1st round win and got his hand sliced open makes me like him even more. We were robbed as fans not getting to watch him in the playoffs.
  20. Hell yeah, that's some good news
  21. I say it every year. Give me a consistent .910 goalie and we’ll be in the tourney and win at least a game most likely, .920+ and we’re a frozen four team playing for a title. This team is good enough offensively to make a run with a .910 goalie.
  22. Oh me too. I’m not saying don’t get pissed about losses(hell knows I do) but to continually come on this board and only point out negatives makes me question some people’s end goal. Some perspective I feel would help some people enjoy the ride more instead of losing their heads every time a bad game comes around
  23. Tough to see some people on here tying their daily personal fulfillment to the success of a college hockey program they have no influence over. If you guys were fans of UNO or SCSU you probably would have jumped off the ledge by now. It's apparent the way some "fans" pop up out of the woodwork only when things are going bad to recount all the way this program has personally wronged them. Find some balance guys.
  24. To the people saying that the tape is out on UND. Are you sure the teams UND will be playing down the stretch have the type of players(See Mberko) or dedication to this style of play? I don't see BU or Michigan dropping into a 1-4 trap no matter how successful it was in a couple series. CC was impressively efficient at it and they seem to have the full team buy in that it's what they will be doing exclusively. Pair that with a ridiculously good goalie and you have a scary team to play in the postseason. I'm telling myself this is just a bad matchup for UND, hopefully this coming weekend proves that out.
