Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.Com was just on KFAN and he said the NFL didn't want AP to play again this year no matter what and when the plea deal came they were surprised and had to find a way to keep him off the field. He said the punishment of 15 games for a misdemeanor definitely doesn't fit the crime and this is just another inconsistency with how the NFL handles things. I really think Goodell has just opened himself up to more criticism here of whether he is capable of actual doing the job and think the NFLPA may push hard for a change in the offseason. He also said in a league that strives for competitive balance so much the NFL has basically taken the Vikings season and thrown it away with how they have handled the situation. The league office just doesn't know how to make a set of rules for disciplining players and how to follow them.

I have seen a lot of other opinions today that very much disagree with the suspension. I know what AP did was wrong but suspending him for what basically amounts to a whole season is crazy to me and I agree with the NFLPA guy that the NFL is just making it up as they go along.

Wow very surprised to see Peterson suspended at least the rest of the season I thought he would just be paying a fine. I think Goodell is gonna be under fire for this decision especially from players. Looks like Peterson will appeal the suspension as he should and the NFLPA has released a statement: NFLPA statement on Adrian Peterson suspension: "The decision by the NFL to suspend Adrian Peterson is another example of the credibility gap that exists between the agreements they make and the actions they take. Since Adrian’s legal matter was adjudicated, the NFL has ignored their obligations and attempted to impose a new and arbitrary disciplinary proceeding. The facts are that Adrian has asked for a meeting with Roger Goodell, the discipline imposed is inconsistent and an NFL executive told Adrian that his time on the Commissioner’s list would be considered as time served. The NFLPA will appeal this suspension and will demand that a neutral arbitrator oversee the appeal. We call on the NFL Management Council to show our players and our sponsors leadership by committing to collective bargaining so a fair personal conduct policy can be implemented as quickly as possible. -- NFL Players Association"

Watching Florida they just aren't very good fundamentally and have way too many missed assignments which is why I definitely can't see them beating Minnesota or Wisconsin who are two pretty fundamentally sound teams. Nebraska is struggling right now and looking at some things from their fans they are waiting for Minnesota to come in this weekend and beat them and they hope that will be the end of Pelini. The LSU and Wisconsin game changed dramatically with the Gordon "injury" if he is fully healthy there is no way they blow that game. Florida's QB is a good athlete but I think you have to dare him to beat you throwing the ball down the field they could keep it close for a while though as FSU hasn't taken control of many games at all in the 1st half.

Tom Novak, Rem Pitlick, and Sam Rossini. Minnesota would be my best guess the one thing I really wouldn't understand would be him re-committing to Wisconsin.
-
You really think Flordia could beat Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin?
-
I thought Georgia would run away with the East and really thought they would be a playoff team at the start of the season but they have definitely stumbled big time in a couple games they had to have.
-
Depends which Georgia team shows up all 3 of the teams you mentioned run the ball very well as did Florida and they ran all over Georgia. Then last week Georgia's defense comes out and only gives up 7 points I believe to a solid running team like Auburn although Auburn had been quite lucky in a few of their wins and getting as high in the rankings as they did.

I said they are still the best division in football but it isn't by as much as some people think and some of the teams in it are overrated. Some people think that whoever wins the SEC West should be in the playoff no matter what their record is just because they play in the SEC West and it is that tough that kind of reasoning is just stupid.
-
Responding to some comments about the SEC in the college hockey thread the SEC East is very average and even the leader Missouri lost to a bad Big Ten team Indiana. The SEC West is still probably the best division in college football but it is also very overrated by many people this year especially the depth of it and some other conferences/divisions have definitely closed the gap this year.

I'm not sure about Saturday but Friday night is on FSN+.
-
Because he isn't a forward he is a defenseman and has done a pretty decent job when he has been in the lineup this year. Additionally it isn't like we don't have forward depth our forwards are playing pretty well and there has been a good healthy scratch ready to come in if anyone struggles as was the case with Murphy in for Poganski Saturday and I'm sure Poganski will be pushing hard this week at practice to try to get back in the lineup Friday night.
-
Parise is back in the lineup today and has a goal for the Wild who are up 2-0 on Winnipeg midway through the 1st.
-
He has decommitted from Wisconsin and even though he is still going to take an official there it is hard to see him ending up there. He is a talented forward that would be a good addition to incoming class next year. I believe he plays on a line in Waterloo with 2 Gopher recruits and he has previously visited Minnesota and Michigan.

Missed it late last night but #6 Arizona State lost at Oregon State 35-27.

FSU is able to do it again beating Miami 30-26 after I believe Miami was up 26-13 in the 3rd quarter.
-
I never saw a reason and thought it was a little bit of a strange move but their goalie tonight faced a lot more quality chances than the guy last night. No matter who they had in net tonight I don't think it would have changed the result at all.
-
Bielema finally gets his first SEC win as Arkansas beats LSU 17-0. Georgia beats Auburn 34-7 I guess they figured out how to stop the run this week after Florida ran all over them a couple weeks ago. Miami leading FSU 26-23 late in the 4th does FSU have another comeback in them?
-
Yes Farley is definitely one of the worst.
-
Anyone see them celebrate the sweep they looked like they advanced to the frozen 4 with the win haha.
-
More the style of game tonight I expected to see last night. Nice to get a 4-1 win that really probably should have been a lot worse. Was glad to see the refs make the right call on goal review as it seemed pretty easy to see that Zane was pushed into the net. Generated a lot more quality chances and didn't give up many quality chances with some better d zone coverage tonight and any time this team does that I like their chances. I know it is a while before we will see Miami again but I hope when we do somebody buries Coleman in the ice. Miami plays the type of hockey I hate where they dive all over the place whenever they are touched but take a cheap shot at a guy whenever he is vulnerable or has his back turned and watching Minnesota and Duluth during commercials some tonight I also noticed the Bulldogs have some of this style in their game again this year. Do you think Blasi looks for diving in recruits or just teaches it when they arrive on campus?
-
He also decided to go for 2 when they were up 11.

Notre Dame misses a field goal in OT and Northwestern makes one and wins 43-40.
-
What was Notre Dame doing? Had the ball 2nd down with about 1:35 left up 3 and Northwestern out of timeouts and instead of taking a knee they run the ball and fumble and Northwestern recovers and then moves the ball into field goal range and gets the tying field goal to send it to OT. Melvin Gordon broke the single game rushing record with 408 yards and 4 TDs in a 59-24 Wisconsin win over Nebraska. Would guess we see two SEC teams in the top 4 this week after Alabama beat Mississippi State and TCU really struggled to win at Kansas.
