Murphy and Poganski in for MacMillan and St.Clair would guess St.Clair may be dealing with an injury as well. Tonight's lines: Pattyn-Johnson-Parks O'Donnell-Gaarder-Murphy Caggiula-Schmaltz-Olson Chyzk-Simonson-Poganski LaDue-Schmaltz Ausmus-Stecher Mattson-Poolman McIntyre Johnson Hrynkiw

Poganski has been playing 1 game a weekend but after the performance last night it may be tough to make any lineup changes unless it is because of injury. Poganski is a guy that I think will adjust to the college game and get better throughout the year and consistently be in the lineup in the 2nd half of the season kind of like what happened with Thompson last year.

I think Zane has pretty much gotten past the giving up 1 soft goal a game as the one he gave up last night was the first soft one I can remember him giving up in a while.

Great game of Fighting Sioux hockey and love the edge this team played with tonight. The guys came with great jump from the start real strong on the puck especially in the offensive zone tonight and a real nice job of going hard to the net and making Gillies uncomfortable. Liked the way Olson jumped in when Caggiula took the high hit in the 3rd and made sure Providence knew right away we weren't gonna let that happen. Seems like Poolman continues to get better every game and you can't take him out of the lineup right now and that goes for pretty much the whole set of defenseman so unless an injury happened tonight I would expect the same 6 in for tomorrow for sure. The 6th goal really didn't mean a whole lot for this game but I think it was big for Caggiula to finally see one go in. I noticed MacMillan didn't play at all in the 3rd so hopefully that was just precautionary and he will be good to go tomorrow if he can't go I would guess Poganski would come in and Hak would have to do some line juggling. Hope we can see this same kind of intensity and edge from the drop of the puck tomorrow and finish off a sweep that could be big at the end of the season.

That is what I figured too but I have seen some Duluth fans and other hockey people speculate that Sandelin may not want to deal with the father/son dynamic and they thought he could end up at UND, Omaha, or Notre Dame. I would think if he doesn't go to Duluth that he won't end up in the NCHC but who knows.
-
I haven't seen him play but have heard good things about his game I know some have said he is the best uncommitted '99 in Minnesota so I would think there will be some interest in him.
-
True but I would be pretty surprised with the team they have and the way their conference has looked early on to not see them in the tournament.
-
I disagree completely, my perfect scenario would be to get the 1 seed in Fargo and the Gophers can get a 1 seed and have go somewhere else and we see them in the National Championship game.
-
True, one team I don't think enough people are considering right now is Georgia with the only real tough game left in the regular season for them vs. Auburn and then a likely SEC Championship matchup against Ole Miss or Miss St.
-
Hopefully Caggiula is cleared and ready to go this weekend but if not I would guess we just see the Saturday night lineup with Chyzk added to it.
-
I think if it is Michigan State or Ohio State a 1 loss Big 10 team will get in, if it is the Gophers as much as I would love to see them in I doubt they would get in. I think TCU is in the best spot for the Big 12 as their only loss was one that they kind of gave away and Baylor had to get a few very questionable calls late to win.

That was definitely offensive pass interference it was just a stupid play by the Notre Dame receiver because if he didn't do it the result of the play probably still would have been the same.

Didn't get to watch the game but from the sound of it the line changes seemed to work out pretty well. It really sounded like Olson fit in well with the Schmaltz line he just missed on his chances and putting Simonson and Johnson together seemed like a pretty good combo. Also sounded like it could have been a lot worse as there were 3 or 4 posts hit by UND and a couple missed open nets as well. Overall it seemed like a much more consistent performance last night and really the type of performance most people expect from this team. Reading the Herald this morning evidently Zane must have been a little bored as the story said he saved a moth on the ice during a stoppage and brought it over to the CC bench to let it be free haha.

Some lineup changes for tonight Poganski and Mattson in Chyzk and Thompson out: Pattyn-MacMillan-Parks O'Donnell-Gaarder-St.Clair Caggiula-Schmaltz-Olson Simonson-Johnson-Poganski LaDue-Schmaltz Ausmus-Stecher Mattson-Poolman McIntyre Johnson

Alabama all over Texas A&M 52-0 in the middle of the 3rd quarter.

No but they lost to RPI and were shutout by Duluth. I watched the game last night and think they might be a team that just takes a little while to get it going. They definitely have some talent up front and should be able to put the puck in the net but a couple of their top forwards are freshmen that might need a little time to fully adjust to the college level.

The Wild missed on a lot of quality chances last night including a few with whiffing on wide open nets and you just knew that would come back to haunt them at the end of that game. That was one of the worst reffed NHL games I have seen last night with missing some blatantly obvious cross check and slashing calls as well as allowing the Ducks to goon it up after plays. Suter getting punched by a Duck who dropped his gloves and tried to start fighting results in no call, Perry sitting on top of Haula for a good 20 seconds and the ref just turns his head, Getzlaf and Coyle get in a skirmish and Getzlaf drops his gloves during it and Coyle doesn't but Coyle gets an extra 2 minutes. I say the next time these two teams meet the Wild let Cooke go back to his ways from a few years ago and take care of a few of these Ducks starting with Ryan Kesler who just couldn't resist one more cheap play at the buzzer. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/ryan-kesler-sparks-chaos-with-hit-on-mikael-granlund-at-buzzer--video-064019781.html?soc_src=mediacontentstory

From listening to TH it sounded like a pretty solid game with some periods of inconsistency and breakdowns and way too many penalties in the 2nd. Sounded like Zane was very solid as has come to be expected and the CC goal was because of a weird bounce of the boards. Seemed like Ausmus name was really called a lot tonight and he got a lot of minutes, he was solid as a freshman last year but it seems like he has taken a big step over the offseason and I know it is only 3 games but I think he has been our most consistent defenseman so far.

http://www.grandforksherald.com/content/ice-time-q-und-mens-hockey-player-michael-parks-0 Michael Parks interview love this response: Q. If you were the UND president, what’s the first thing you would do? A. I’d get the Fighting Sioux logo back. -
Yeah wasn't much action over the summer and I think a lot of that was probably by design with the renovations being done at the Ralph and probably wanting for those to be done before having recruits visit. It seems they are back to heavily recruiting Minnesota where for most kids college hockey is king and they aren't all that interested in the CHL which is a strategy I really like because you can still get very good players but they are a lot less likely to bolt.
-
I agree very big WHL flight risk and judging by our commits over the last year or so it seems like we have stayed away from players that are WHL risks so maybe that is why UND isn't a potential location.
-
Most of the interest from the B1G type schools was early on I believe and my guess is he didn't quite develop into the player those schools thought he had the potential to be. I know Minnesota had a lot of interest around the summer of his junior year but it kind of trailed off and the only way he woulda ended up there now was as a preferred walk-on.

Mark Divver @MarkDivver 22m22 minutes ago '97 C Auston Matthews of NTDP tells me he's 50/50 on college vs. WHL. Says he's talking to BC, BU, Denver, Michigan.
-
Ryan Schlichte committed to Mankato State not sure how much interest UND actually had but he is one of the better QBs in Minnesota and thought he might have been a good fit.

If we do look to add another depth defenseman maybe a guy to keep an eye on. Over The Boards @OTBPuckWatch · 2h 2 hours ago Uncommitted @BucsHockey (4-0-1) 95 D Alec Rauhauser, out of Century HS (North Dakota), is tied for 5th among all @USHL scoring, 3-4-7 line.
