What are you talking about? Bison Dan is here continuously lecturing on these things. Though now that you mention it, he has been pretty quiet about it lately...
-
I believe that over 1,700 tickets have already been sold for SDSU (next D-1 home game), that should easily top 2,000.
-
Nice e-mail sent out by UND athletics to encourage fans to come out to more games this year:
-
It was down to 29 after one was removed from the premises...
-
Agree completely with this.

If my math is correct, the MVFC went 19-18 in OOC play. Take out FBS (2-10) and D-2 games (5-0), their record OOC against FCS is 12-8. Take out Pioneer league games (4-0, non-scholarship) and their OOC record is 8-8. Don't think I missed any, but was just a quick look so I may have. 2-0 vs the MEAC (NDSU over Delaware St, WIU over Hampton) 1-3 vs the OVC (SIU over SEMO St, ISUr and SIU losses to EIU, MSU loss to Murray St) 3-2 vs the Big Sky (SDSU over UND, UNI over UNC, USD with a win over UC Davis and losses to NAU and UM) 2-3 vs the Southland (SDSU over SELO, UNI over McNeese St, MSU with losses to Northwestern St and UCA, ISUb loss to Tennesee Tech)

I don't disagree at all. Just find it amusing when it when they lose a close game to Montana in Vermillion, which is a tough place to play, USD is all of the sudden bad team even though they had close games with the MVFC teams that were supposedly left out.
-
So USD is no good, but lost by 7 to UNI and 4 to Youngstown, the two MVFC that were supposedly left out? I'm confused.

One thing that was a concern was how easy Braun was able to get to the basket when it was obvious that was all they were going to do for a stretch. The coaches were calling for a certain defense to prevent it and it worked a couple times, but seems that he got there more often than not. He's one of the better individual players we'll see this year but there are a handful in the Big Sky that measure up. I concur on Shay being an active coach, thought he was going to have an aneurysm a few times. Disagree on Jones being stoic though. He's intense, just not as loud as Shay is.

Interesting tidbit, one of NDSU's true freshman made his season debut late in the game last night. Don't know if the plan was to pull his redshirt all along, but surprised he hadn't seen any minutes up to this point in the year.
-
Good point. With UND's depth in the frontcourt and athleticism in the backcourt, Jones has built a solid team that should benefit from the new rules.
-
I was surprised they didn't go to Bjorklund more. It seems like he only has one move (couple fakes followed be rolling to the middle of the lane) but he's efficient and UND wasn't doing that great stopping him. In the second half, Braun had no intention of passing the ball. Was surprised to see Huff didn't guard him all that much, he seemed to shut him down pretty well two years ago. Possibly an adjustment to keep Huff from picking up quick fouls? Was pretty evident considering Braun was well into double digit points before he made his first shot from the field.

UND put up more yards than every MVFC team did on SDSU (and outgained SDSU for the game) and more points in regulation than all but one. I'll give you the TOP battle (significantly) and turnovers (3-0). And they won by 7.

I believe tonight's win was number 1500 for the program if I read the prospectus correctly. Fitting way to get it

They have a home/home scheduled for next year in Fargo and I believe the year after at WaGriz.

Bjorklund got in trouble trying to draw charges the last few games. I can see us getting to the rim and putting pressure on him. Be interesting if Nash posts him up and uses his athleticism, though not sure how much of a post game Nash has. Wouldn't mind seeing a little full court pressure as well, NDSU has shown they struggle some against that.

There was one flight from GFK to FAR this morning and then the plane went to Watertown. If that happened to be your flight, it landed in Fargo at 9:44 a.m. Four hour drive from Fargo to Dickinson would get you there at 2 central, 1 mountain, yet your claiming to be at work by 11 am central. No flights from GFK or FAR to the western part of the state this morning. Looking forward to your explanation.

Going to be a great atmosphere tonight. Should be a good game. Pretty simple game plan for UND, contain Bjorklund. He's been in some foul trouble this year as well, attack him early and see if you can't get one or two quick ones on him. Huff won't go huge, will be using a little more energy chasing around Braun, but will get his. Hooker will show NDSU what they missed out on. Nash with a couple plays that blow the roof off the building. Will be interesting to see if Stefan gets into the rotation. If him or Schuler get going, look out.

I'd like to amend this to preseason and end of season #2 team since Bison06 had issues with me using preseason rankings.

It is all speculation and someone who looks like a winner could end up not being able to get the job done. Craig Bohl wasn't NDSU's first choice, they offered the job to Terry Allen. Allen turned it down and is hanging onto his job by a thread with his career record of 33-56 at Missouri State and being retained partially due to financial reasons.

But Saul said to write it down, NDSU is a tournament team. No highlighted sheets or anything like that yet, but still.
