    2015 season

Despite what the "experts" claim, the Big Sky has a lot of offenses that depend on running the ball, though its through various styles (option, pro-style, spread). UND's defense is set up great to stop that. However, many of those offenses are also able to throw the ball around if necessary. That is the area where UND really needs to improve. The claim that the Big Sky doesn't play defense is nowhere near what the talking point has become and part of that has to do with some of the very strong offenses that can score in bunches.
  2. I don't have any argument there. Just want to point out the difference in situations the FU trolls are trying to blur the lines on. The staff had no issue with the recruit attending other camps and they were not going to pull his offer or move on if he did so, but there may have been only room for one player and whoever took it first, would get the scholarship. That is a considerably different situation from telling a recruit he has to make a decision immediately and if he goes to another camp, his scholarship offer is being pulled and the staff is moving on. The latter prevents handcuffs a recruit and doesn't allow them any sort of chance to see what else might be out there. The former puts the decision in the recruits hands, weighing the risk/reward of the situation.
  3. But somehow we keep hearing that the majority wants "no nickname" with nothing to back it up and that seems to be OK.
  4. UND coaches didn't say anything even close to that, they had no issues with him going to camp at USD and SDSU nor did they didn't tell him he had to make a decision on the spot or they were pulling his offer and moving on. The recruit was the one who made the call because he enjoyed what he had seen at UND. On top of that, comparing football and basketball recruiting is ridiculous and not even in the same ballpark as multiple kids are brought in for the same position in football every year. With limited scholarships and roster spots, the same can't be said about basketball. But you know that and are just trolling, not sure why I bother. Huge difference between telling a kid to take the offer, preventing him from going and visiting somewhere else, or its getting pulled vs. having multiple offers out and only taking 1 or 2 at a certain position with all the recruits knowing the situation.
  5. Pretty clear the staff is trying to bring in at least one more cornerback before the season to help shore up the secondary.
  6. My understanding is that Brown was up here at a camp and really liked the facilities, campus, coaches and current players. He was headed to camps at USD and SDSU right after UND's and decided rather than wait to see if they offered, to take the UND offer before attending the other camps. It was also possible that UND was only going to take one guard and by waiting, he could have missed his opportunity. Being he liked everything he had seen about UND, it wasn't worth the risk.
  7. What you're saying is completely different than saying "All the big alumni seem to want to keep the no name option".
  8. Huh? What or who's comments are you basing that off of? Dave St. Peter indicated that he was open to the idea but also didn't say he was against having one. That's all that I've seen. But somehow "all the big alumni" want "no nickname"? All the recent polls, though very unscientific and with no actual degree of accuracy, have indicated that people prefer Roughriders over "no nickname" and any nickname over "no nickname" (GF Herald, Forum, SiouxSports).
  9. Odd that you'd bash the kids from Canada since NDSU made a late offer or two to a couple of the kids that were already committed to UND last year.
  10. Congrats to Campbell, great showing and did UND proud!
  11. UND announced it was moving to D-1 in July, 2006 so whatever you are trying to imply makes no sense.
  12. New first round record with 20 (19 actual homeruns). No big deal. Some moonshots in there.
  13. Do not like that one game a week throws a wrench into the other 11 teams broadcast availability. I get why its in there but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Thanks for the updates.
  14. Excellent. Love it.
  15. Terrel de Rouen is no longer listed on the roster on UNDSports.com
  16. Agree. Think he would have fit in very well as a DE in the 3-4. Not much argument on your second point either. For the record, I have no clue how much money either school offered him.
  17. Good get for them. I heard NDSU offered more money (that's how that works right....?)
  18. No argument from me on that. Its why I took the time to hunt down the comment, I knew someone with quality insight must have mentioned it otherwise I wouldn't have remembered it.
  19. There is insulation above what you can see.
  20. Can we have a thread titled "Fetch's Random Thoughts"?
  21. There's conflicting information on whether UND is using the turf from the Alerus or not. I (and others) were under the assumption they were but VMeister said they weren't. I've never seen it confirmed one way or another.
  22. Not to mention the continued negative press and attention that was drawn to UND and brought up any time UND was in the news because of it or the resources that have continued to be allocated towards it. I'd prefer to talk about the performance on the field/ice/court/classroom rather than what's on the front of the jerseys.
  23. I was included in that group as well. My point was that it is an issue that isn't going to go away or improve and it becomes a balance of whether the negative connotations and publicity are worth it. For multiple reasons in UND case, the situation was a net negative.
  24. Like the protests against the name in Cleveland and Washington? Cleveland continues to move away from the imagery but Dan Snyder continues to keep his head in the sand.
  25. I've been inside, massive doesn't really do it justice. Can't wait to see once the inside is finished.
