Going to be the wild west in the portal with all the FBS kids that will likely be forced into it with the roster caps. Hopefully kids are getting sound advice before making decisions, whatever they choose.

Take the info however you want but: Nielsen obviously turned it around the last 2 years, but previously, he has had a 4 game losing streak (to end a season), 5 of 6 to end a season, two 3 game losing streaks in one season, lost 3 in a row to end the covid season before finishing 1-3 and then went 3-8 before having very solid showings the last 2 years. Stig's first 10-15 or so seasons at SDSU wer very average (and looks very familiar). Expectations were likely different for SDSU at the time during D2, transition and early D1 days.

Payton comes in as a gadget player and rarely throws the ball. He's a huge contributor because he's a really good athlete and makes a difference with his legs.
-
Softball was also playing out of Apollo with literally nothing for facilities until this year. Expectations of that program will be different going forward. Soccer plays out of the REA and the entire field was renovated in 2018.

I mean, if there is true corruption and you aren't shedding light on it, doesn't that makes you complicit by letting it continue? If it is actually accurate and as serious as you keep alluding to, myself and/or many others would be standing in line with you to take it to the President, legislature or SBoHE. Otherwise, the vague claims are borderline libel and do nothing other than come off as an attempt to stir the pot. My offer stands.

All fair, and my comment wasn't directed at you. I can't see where the new OC had any allegiances and put who he thought had the best chance of winning on the field. I can't think of any other reason he would have went the direction he did. As for the bolded....I agree, though Tommy was light years better than anyone expected him to be. But ultimately, if accurate, that seems like it would fall on the OC who was let go after 5 years and then the next OC who was here for the 5 years after as I think both were responsible for the QB position. Was the cupboard truly left as bad as it looked this year?

His comments in the last presser were disappointing for the reasons you mentioned. However there are plenty of previous examples of him stating the goal is to compete for a MVFC title which puts you in the hunt for a NC. Definitely aren't there right now. Assuming he was speaking directly to the disappoint of the collapse this year and missing the playoffs, however If his mindset on that has actually changed, that would actually be a significant discussion to be had with the AD/President.
-
He wasn't terminated, his contract won't be renewed. Significant difference.
-
Wait, are there actually people that think the brand new OC was trying to impress and/or help out the local beat writer? LOL. I completely get and 100% agree with the frustration and disappointment given how the season epically collapsed, but there has been some absolutely wild comments the last week or two. Shades of Illuminati pulling strings and Deep State pushing narratives at this point.

Especially if you want to get hired somewhere else to continue coaching down the road.

Unless they separate from the NCAA and create their own playoff system (like the FBS does with CFP), they can't do any of that per NCAA regulations.
-
I don't think those decisions have all been made yet.
-
Pretty sure it's the same as the wing sauce, either one.
-
Would be an interesting move considering they have their QB in waiting in Mason who will have 2 years left, plus another 4 QB's on their roster that can all come back.

Agreed, but he was the one who built the program into what it was. The next coach carried that for a bit but always seemed to be on the way out and let it fall into the mess it was. Seems like he knew the cupboard was bare when he finally moved back to Texas to coach a DIII team. Previous coach got more time than he probably should have but Covid probably kept him here an extra year before he was let go.
-
Hardee getting himself in trouble was pretty much where it all started. Pryor rode what Hardee had built for a bit and ended up running it into the ground as he was trying to figure out how to get back to Texas. Tiffin couldn't turn around the mess he inherited. I do think the new staff has the connections and ability to get them back to where they were. Injuries were part of the problem this year but the depth still isn't where it needs to be.

Just spitballing but probably pointing out how generous those that have come before them have been to have the facilities and amenities that they were showing them. That UND was a special enough place to alums that they were willing to give back in that way. Or he was telling them they only wants commitments from those who were going to be successful off the field and give that money back to UND. I'm not sure which one is more likely....

Would be nice to get a road W and send the seniors off on a high note. Whatever happens after that is what it is.

You should check out a few other of the sub-forums...

That's what you add to the cay butter mixture. Which itself is butter/sour cream/seasonings.
-
Sure. It would also be nice if they won all their games. They won the first 3 they played (4 if you count the outdoor game in Omaha) and have lost the last 2. While disappointing, I don't know anyone who still didn't have a great time on the trip it it was ruined by a loss. 3-2 (or 4-2) is a far cry from "start winning these games".

Cay sauce is the Cay butter (mixture of butter/sour cream plus seasonings) mixed with Frank's plus cayenne to the desired heat level. Shark sauce is Cay butter mixed with BBQ sauce with cayenne added for heat. Or at least that is the simplified version of it.
-
That's fine. Just because it isn't your cup of tea (and that's fine) doesn't mean it still won't be wildly successful for the hockey program. But that's a weird reason to criticize it. Until the idea runs out of steam, they will keep happening.
-
Based on the amount of people that show up and what they are able to charge for tickets, I'd say people are speaking with their wallets and want the REA and athletic department to continue with them. Not hard to do the math on what they will net top line for this game. Not to mention the UND supporters across the US they are able to get to one spot to connect with.

Which part of I didn't agree with the timing of the extension and I definitely was against the buy-out language that was in it are you struggling to understand? What time frame are you considering "a mess"? The program is clearly in a better spot than when he took it over. There have been ups and downs, but the baseline is a much better spot. Does that mean it is where I want it to be? No. The baseline and results should be more than they are. I don't know how to help you understand that explaining that communicating with decision makers is more effective than anonymously posting the same things over and over (and over and over) again, even if you don't get the results you want every time. And frankly, that's a good thing. You want to see "a mess"? Listening to every person with an opinion and going with their whims would have any athletic department millions in the hole in buyouts and a minimal pool to replace the person everyone wants fired the second there is any adversity. There is a happy medium to that though. Again, just so you understand, I'm not remotely OK with how this season has progressed, but it isn't a snap your fingers and everything is fine situation. And it was compounded with an extension with, at the moment, a prohibitive buyout. That's where we are right now. Can't undo it, so figuring out how to proceed from here, whether its raise funds or figure out a way to improve, is what needs to be solved.
