  1. First year was not what they expected. Pretty sure it was sold out for every game last year even if the seats were empty. While I would prefer the catwalk back, tough to argue when they are pulling that kind of extra revenue. And guessing the Alerus Center isn't pushing for any change there either as they use it for concerts.
  2. Goal song was asked if it would changed, maybe to the school song. They did they do both. A short snip of Chelsea Dagger right into the school song. Best of both. Were open to other ideas for songs or goal horn. North bleachers were done as is because now they can retract them to the wall within minutes and open the practice court up instead of the previous temporary ones that took significant time to move. They can have double the room on short turnaround. Said they wish it could be closer but that tradeoff for more practice space is why they did it. North end was done to try to appeal to more casual/younger fan. Admitted still work to do, ideas didn't work as well as planned and are looking at changes to improve on last year.
  3. Denver will go wherever let's them keep the sports they want and not require them to add ones they don't. It is why they are in the Summit and are very likely to stay in the Summit unless something significant changes.
  4. Wait, I thought the issue was the HC is stuck in his ways and doesn't allow coordinators run things their way? Now the issue is the new guys were doing things somewhat differently?
  5. Fair points but Hauck is an outlier for a couple different reasons given his personality and history. While it was different in 2022 than it is now, probably some merit on the transfer portal thing these days. How many student-athletes are honestly thinking they are going to be at a college for 4-5 years?
  6. Not real hard to figure out an extension from 2 years ago. There were 2 seasons left on his contract, and UND had made the playoffs in 2 of the last 3 years. Could it have waited one more year? Possibly. It wasn't going to go into the last season of his contract for sure, that much is obvious. But the extension was followed up with making the playoffs the next 2 seasons. No on is going to argue that (lack of) playoff success is an obvious issue, but the program has continued to trend in the right direction. Not as fast and with more bumps and plateaus than some care for, but ultimately it has continued to get better.
  7. Just curious what you would legitimately expect them to say that would actually satisfy you? Again, I'm positive people are going to complain because they don't "agree" with reasoning or thought process on certain decisions. The point isn't to make everyone happy but to at least provide accurate dialog instead of people running with their own theories. There's probably also a fine line on what they are going to say in a public forum as it relates to an individual's employment status/discussion before you start wading into privacy issues.
  8. It's what people wanted. They are stepping up and going to give it a try. If people can't handle something like this respectively, even if they don't agree with whatever reasons are given to answer questions, not sure what to say other than it would be really disappointing.
  9. Don't believe all of this to be accurate... Regardless, best of luck to him in the future.
  10. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/for-the-first-time-und-fans-can-purchase-merchandise-with-current-player-names
  11. The athletes have to sign on. And they just started it. Currently there are 7 football players, 1 soccer player, 4 volleyball players and 2 hockey players.
  12. There are options for apparel with athletes from other sports.
  13. Tried that going from Mid-Con to Summit. Hasn't really helped. Then again, neither has being named the PAC-12, B1G, Big 12, SEC, ACC, etc....
  14. Unfortunate it overlaps with the UND Champions Ball.
  15. Sanford bought roughly the whole half section of land that goes from 40th Ave S to 47th Ave S along the interstate, so yes, they own the land just north of where the interchange is planned to be.
  16. 4-5 years for total completion.
  17. Allowing each new coordinator to run the offenses/defenses/special teams as they see fit seem to contradict that. Obviously the preference isn't for an Air Raid offense that keeps the defense gassed and the three units play complementary football, but I am not sure I've seen anything that he's dictated certain things. Just look at the huge change between Rudy and Danny's offense for proof of that.
  18. Sure, but that's a completely separate conversation.
  19. The one in EGF was not great. Poor service did them in more than anything.
  20. We aren't competing against the P5. They are literally in a different league despite the "D1" moniker that everyone has. Schools the size of UND are going to use NIL the way it was more closely intended to be. 1883 is partnering with businesses and non-profits to help facilitate deals with athletes. Donations from individuals will help supplement these deals that are being made. It isn't going to be life changing money but it is something on top of FCOA and Alston to help make it a little harder to turn down some of those outside offers. Not going to work on everyone but the hope (for UND and other Summit/MVFC schools) is it at least makes some difference and keeps a few more of those players around. NIL will absolutely be a factor at UND's level, but in the way that P5 schools are going to dangle much bigger dollar amounts to get the best players at the lower levels. As for the D2 crap.....UND is one of the few schools in the nation that offers both FCOA and Alston, with only around 50 or so doing the latter as of last fall. Again, not life changing money but it is a lot more than most schools at UND's "level" is currently doing. Not tax-deductible for business, but they can write it off as an expense, lowering income, lessening tax burden.
  21. Would be surprised to be wrong, but 6'6" OL who has started a season plus, experience at guard and tackle with two years of eligibility left....he'll end up FBS and that almost always is coming with some extra money.
  22. The problem is the courts are blocking any chance they have of doing that. They have had ever major ruling go against them. Regardless of what they've done or not done in the past, it is basically our of their hands at this point.
  23. Can't say I believe this is fully accurate but there are some truths in it. Ignoring that hockey is the economic engine for UND's athletic department would definitely lead to a quick departure. So yes, it is a priority that would have significant trickle down effects. However, that doesn't mean there aren't fair questions to be asked about incremental funding. It is also a lot more complicated and misunderstood on where some of that funding comes from and how it is applied by those giving direct funds to do certain things. HPC I and II, the new football facilities, updates to Bronson Field and the new softball field also show that those in charge are far from ignoring other sports.
  24. Must be a problem from the neck up...
