You'd think NDSU would have been happy to showcase its brand on something other than whatever garbage production it is that KVLY puts out. Maybe someone in NDSU broadcasting got a kick-back or something again.
-
That doesn't do anything to change the fact he would still have 4 years left if he wants it. You get 5 years to compete in 4. He didn't compete last year so he can still compete for 4 years. I'm not saying he will be around for another 4 years, just stating that if he wants to, he is eligible for 4 more years of NCAA competition.
-
How so? He didn't see any game action except in an exhibition, therefore he didn't use any of his eligibility up and he should have 4 more years to compete if he wants to.

Sagarin doesn't take injuries into account and UNI had nothing similar to what your scenario was. How is it relevant to Sagarin being flawed by giving out moral victories to UNI, ranking them 5th even though they have 6 FCS losses? I'm not saying that there isn't some merit in the different ranking systems, I'm just simply amazed that the MVFC bros can't admit that there are some big flaws with it and it isn't the be all end all they keep claiming. UNI may very well better than a few teams in the field, but they also lost to multiple teams that didn't make the playoffs. Simple solution: Win the games on your schedule.
-
They didn't, so what is the relevancy? UND was 7-1 last year when Studsrud started and finished games and 0-3 when he was injured during the game or didn't play. On top of that, they were without their All-American safety for a few of those games. That didn't seem to matter to the committee.

No, it cares about being "close enough". At some point, you are what your record says you are, even when you take into account strength of opponents. I don't know exactly when that point is, but I feel pretty comfortable that you're there at least by the end of the season. Outside of moral victories, give me a logical explanation why Sagarin's 5th rated FCS team has 6 FCS losses.
-
Because it rewards moral victories? Any system that shows a team that is 5-6 as the 5th best team in nation has some serious kinks in it. LOL. They beat non-scholarship Dayton (who was #78 out of 125 in the almighty Sagarin rankings)

NORTH DAKOTA vs. BC - Dec. 3rd 2016. Madison Square Garden

There is a pre-game party planned at the Heartland Brewery on 5th Ave (inside the Empire State Building) about 2 or 3 blocks from MSG. -
Season ticket holders have until 6pm on Wednesday to purchase their tickets. Anything not purchased gets released so expect to see some more blue dots on the map mid-week.

Absolutely amazing how the chatter the whole season is that all these teams are garbage and then they end up on Fargo U's side of the bracket and it somehow becomes the "bracket of death"...

You still have to bid the minimum to ensure the NCAA gets something. They take whichever is greater between that and 75% of the net gate.

Richmond or NC A&T Richmond lost their starting QB for the year yesterday. Back-up did not look great. Winner has some long travel to get here. Like the match-up!
-
Why should they compromise seeding for regionalization? They already do it for unseeded teams. Seed teams where they deserve.
-
Impressive to see that the committee held on to UND being above SDSU the whole time and not being impressed by beating a team with a losing record. Guessing the results against common opponent Cal-Poly confirmed it. I see Dom and NDSU fans are already complaining about regionalization since NDSU would face SDSU in the quarterfinals. Wasn't the alternative UND, which be even more regionalization since they'd be swapping where a team is seeded just to have a close game?
-
But...but...Sagarin has them as the #5 FCS team despite having 6 FCS losses.
-
Nope. Also make sure to ignore everything Hurd says about the WAC too.
-
Which is absurd considering the stakes.
-
So you're stating that Faison sent the commissioner of the MVFC text messages about when UND could start conference play and making sure it aligned with leaving the Big Sky to throw everyone off because UND is going to join the WAC with a bunch of other Big Sky schools?
-
Presidents have the final say on conference changes, they delegate their athletic directors to talk with commissioners to do the negotiating. Especially in a scenario where the AD has been having conversations on and off with Douple and Patty for 5+ years and the president hasn't even been on the job 5 months. The MVFC had been publicly and privately saying "No" since UND moved to Division 1 and that is exactly where the conversation ended. Now all of the sudden possible dates of joining the MVFC and exit dates and fees with the UND and the Big Sky are being discussed. UND very well may not end up in the MVFC but to completely deny that they are closer to joining then they have ever been and it is a very real possibility is just being ignorant.
-
Sure, if you discount actual text messages sent by Faison to Patti V discussing what year UND would be able to start playing in the conference. And that's just what has been made public by the Herald.
-
Does the MVFC? Does the CAA? Does the MEAC? Does the Southland? Does the Patriot?

I'm not sure why people are hung up on "if UND is the #9 seed". Unfortunately it doesn't matter whether you are the #9 seed or the #24, the bids are the only thing that determines who hosts the first round. Period. UND isn't going to outbid Montana. Ever. NDSU wouldn't outbid Montana. They have averaged over 25,000 per game this year and still have the Brawl of the Wild this weekend. They can put in a bid of over $200K with no problem, because that is what they will end up paying to the NCAA anyway. However, UND put in a bid well above the minimum last year and I feel pretty safe in assuming they did again this year. That required people to step up with their pocketbook to guarantee any shortfalls that might occur and they did.
-
There are minimum bids for each round (First round is $30,000) but teams can bid as much as they want. JMU bid $200,000 last year to host a 1st round game. This is the minimum amount of money guaranteed to the NCAA for the right to host the game, however they actually get 75% of actual net receipts or the minimum guarantee, whichever is greater. For example, if a team bids $100,000 but only bring in $60,000 in net receipts, the host school is on the hook to pay the NCAA the remaining $40,000. This usually only matters in 1st round games because teams that are seeded are guaranteed to host with the higher seed hosting, assuming they have submitted minimum bids. Bids are submitted prior to the playoff field being announced (I believe a week or two ago)
-
I believe they only try to avoid opening round rematches and even that might only be conference re-matches because I think I've some brackets with San Diego and Cal Poly paired up.
-
The exact team? Pretty sure but not positive enough to state it. I believe it was a former NCC team that is now in the Summit.
