President Kennedy Candidate for UCF President's Job

What crony did he give money to? Care to elaborate on that pretty damning claim? Where did he even get cronies that quick or is he funneling money out of state? Really want to hear more on this accusation. I'll counter and say the general public has been pretty critical of a lot of his moves and frankly after a decade of plenty of decisions being made with the goal of trying to toe the line and done in a way that tried to please everyone instead of solving a problem, it is a welcome change. You don't have to agree with everything, but sometimes people in charge have to make unpopular decisions.- 485 replies

I tend to agree with you. REA to Xcel Energy Center: 325 miles. Estimated time: 4 hours, 43 minutes (assuming good traffic). REA to Target Center: 314 miles. Estimated time: 4 hours, 33 minutes (assuming good traffic). REA to Denny Sanford Premier Center: 316 miles. Estimated time: 4 hours, 28 minutes (there is no traffic).

I mean, outside of putting a bid in which was organized and backed by the REA, they really haven't done anything to "deserve it", particularly in the ice. However they aren't the first to have it work in their favor and they won't be the last but it doesn't change that it had an effect on the top overall seed which was the larger part of his overall point. But let's continue to give him what he wants (clicks and exposure) and overreact to any comment that might be construed as negative.
-
Either way, UND fans would find a way be offended.
-
It had nothing to with deserving and the issue isn't UND playing in Sioux Falls, the issue is the #1 seed having to travel so far because of it. Not sure if people are looking to be offended or just argue dumb points. Penn State isn't relevant to the point, they aren't causing an issue for the top overall seed, which the committee has always done the best job of accommodating they can. Pointing out that might be an issue this year and why is not that big of deal. Until more places bid, it is what it is.
-
But Penn State's ranking isn't causing problems like UND's is. UND making it as a 4 seed causes the #1 overall seed to have to travel halfway across the country instead of to the closest regional. Not UND's fault, it is what it is and pointing it out isn't a slight. As someone else stated, if the Midwest regional wasn't in Pennsylvania, it wouldn't be as big of an issue.
-
Not really. PSU fans don't show up in the numbers UND fans do, which was a big part of his point on what makes it a de facto home game. I don't think there's any issue with the points he made. The NCAA has laid out the rules and no one is blaming UND for having a large fan base that travels. Nothing wrong with pointing out the obvious that a higher seed (likely a #1) could have a the possibility of playing in a hostile environment.

Keenum is going to get at least $36 million/2 year from Denver and Bradford is getting $20 million ($15 guaranteed)/1 year with a 1 year team option for $20 million from Arizona. Getting both back was never a reality, both want a chance to be a starter and earn longer contracts and looks like they'll both get their shot. Teddy probably is as well with the Jets.

If that's the route he's taking, the numbers aren't backing that up either. Neither sport showed guarantee expenses in the most recent numbers. The previous year, WIH paid out $2,400 and Soccer paid out $1,068. I'd be curious what teams UND would have paid to play here. The D1 OOC home games this year were WIU, Omaha, USD and SDSU. UND went to WIU, USD and Omaha the previous season and SDSU this year, which means they all look like home/home agreements. Having a hard time buying that criticism.
-
Soccer has to pay people to play here? You mean give out scholarships? Based on last year's numbers, women's hockey had to pay players over twice as much as soccer to play here. Not only were those girls not playing for free, their full rides cost significantly more being around half of them were at an international tuition rate. Soccer gave split 15.7 scholarships to 24 student athletes costin $233K. WIH split 18.5 between 23 student athletes, costing $480K. Based on history, the only #4 seed UND would have gotten is in the conference tournament, and that's assuming they could finally get past Duluth.

Damn Minnesota rule.
-
Can someone just ask Brad why UND had two of the best players in the world and after that, all these Olympians and talent, yet only had a whopping 2 NCAA tournament appearances and zero NCAA tournament wins? The team being cut sure gives a lot of convenient cover for what appears to be severe underperformance for all the supposed talent that was on the team.

We're really reaching for things to complain about if people are complaining about Jody's job performance. They must have hated all the destination games and regionals as well, since the REA is the driver for those happening.
-
Just when it was starting to get crowded on the bandwagon again...
-
Anyone want to give Peter a different cause to go after and send him NDSU's M/F participation numbers? He might be onto something with the second half of his tweet and he has my full support.
-
As already stated, football doesn't get the required donations for season tickets including in their Revenue. The 2017 numbers will also show a sizable increase in ticket revenue. The post below shows the net cost/participant. It should be pointed out that facilities expense in these numbers were a pure guesstimate and the $2.2 million in REA/Betty expenses are broken out as follows: MBB - 11%, WBB - 11%, MIH - 48%, WIH - 18%, Soccer - 1% and VB - 11%. I'd venture to guess the WIH cost is lower than it really should be.
-
Guessing attendance is light when all practices but 1 are not only at 7:45 but also during the week.
-
I'm not positive, but I think those numbers are off. Even if there were 8 players in Sochi (the Herald only named 7), Schlossman only named 6 this year in this tweet. It's not Fighting Sioux hockey anymore You "understand" that the University was in financial distress? How kind of you to acknowledge that There was a way to make it work?? Oh really? Strange that claim is short on details. UND explained what was needed to make it work: a $60 million endowment. I don't recall any of this "talking up" in past Olympics, especially from the foreign players because, well, their games get minimal coverage in the US. I also don't recall UND seeing any noticeable bumps or exposure from the previous two Olympics at a cost of $8 million/4 year cycle. The University found a way to maneuver numbers to make it look compliant? Decisions weren't made in the "spirit" of Title IX? I don't think she actually understands how Title IX works and there isn't a "spirit" behind it, either you're compliant or you aren't. The OCR investigation proved that UND was in compliance. Period. Women's team of what caliber? Slightly above-average? 0 Conference Titles, 0 NCAA wins but once finished T-2 in league play. What exactly are you hanging your hat on here? This pandering and flat out misinformation is why people have such strong feelings that appear to be negative. Enjoy your gold medal, it's an awesome accomplishment to be incredibly proud of. Quit trying to drag UND through the mud while doing it.

#8 UND (12-19) vs #1 Griz (23-7) BSC Quarters 3/8 2:05 PM

Gave them a good game, that effort would have won them quite a few more this year. Everyone (hopefully) back except Dale. Add in Moody, McCauley and Bijiek and head to the Summit. -

Didn't dig themselves a hole for a change. Hope there is enough gas left in the tank. Guessing Dale won't get as many looks, gives Stewart a chance to get going after going scoreless in the first half. -
Oh, that's it? They should have a team in no time.

Last I heard, Avants probably won't play but hope I'm wrong. Not sure how UND counters Akoh without him.
