There’s usually a couple teams Ontario leagues that are decent. The year I went to the national junior A tournament in Canada, the Ontario teams got beat pretty handily by the AJ (Brooks) and BC teams (Prince George). Portage Terriers were there out of the MJ and they were more competitive.

If I recall he was in the portal the entire year Alaska didn’t play. I think he was trying to finish his undergrad degree so he could easily grad transfer so he stayed in Alaska. I think this may have been when transferring as a non-grad transfer required you to sit out a year. Players on teams that sat out the Covid season still had that season count towards their eligibility. Sidorski is the same situation.

I assume there’s some tiebreaker scenarios that prevent going to SCSU.

Slipec plays limited minutes on a stacked team. I’d be interested to see how he does playing in more of a top six role.

From what I remember, he was supposed to be in this year’s junior class, I think he was even announced. And then sometime in the summer I think someone on here said something about him playing another year of juniors. And not long after the decommit happened. He never did play another year of junior hockey though…

I thought developing our younger players has been an issue long before Covid. Like how many younger skilled players that start their careers in the bottom six ever make it into our top six? And stay there consistently?

BCHL is above the NAHL. Probably a step below the USHL but I don’t know how significant it is. Dylan James played in both the AJHL and the USHL and he said the depth of talent is better in the USHL but the top tier teams in the BCHL and AJHL are on par with the USHL.

I mean I’d also say it’s hard to project where 16 year olds will end up being drafted, which is when the high end kids usually commit. Sometimes it’s obvious that they’ll be a 1st round pick , but you never really know until draft year.

He plays limited minutes on the 4th line for the most part but I’ve heard positive reviews of his on ice play. He’s injured right now though.

I know, I’m just saying last time he did a similar article our PP went to hell. Rather not take any chances.

Is it just me thinking it’s not a great idea to have articles published analyzing our power play that are readily available to the other team?
