I’ve definitely gotten a little negative on this team this year but I don’t have it in me to completely give up on them. I’m hoping they will surprise us. I thought they were dead in the water at this time last year too, so…

I just heard him talked about on Chris Peters podcast “Talking Hockey Sense.” It was mentioned briefly and basically just said he appealed the NCAA to get his eligibility restored. I noticed only one other defensemen has played as many games so I’m not sure if they’ve had a lot of injuries or not. They’ve used quite a few defensemen. I just think it’s interesting the plus/minus was good with Tri City but not with Omaha.

I think it says if you don’t play up to your capabilities you get passed on the depth chart.

I have wondered this also. Maybe if we used him for just even strength and power play he wouldn’t be -11. He’d have more energy. We have other guys who can kill penalties.

Benoit was traded to Omaha last year from Tri City. His plus/minus with Tri City was a plus 12 in 39 games. Omaha is not good. Their goaltending stats are all sub-900. Sounds familiar lol.

Can anyone name a player on this team that was here last year that you think is better this year than they were last year? I cannot, which I’d say is the problem.

Possibly, but I don’t think we are suddenly going to recruit defensive defensemen either. We would target the guys who can do both. I had originally wondered earlier in the season if we have too many smaller defenders and could use a little more size but when I looked up our defense it didn’t seem as bad as I thought.

Hobey has become somewhat of a joke to me. I think it started in 2016 when UND had no top 10 finalists and they gave it to Jimmy Vesey.

I’ve seen CC’s remaining schedule. I don’t know if he should pat himself on the back too hard yet.

Benoit would be my guess. Him and the other three all lead their teams in ice time. Ausmus has missed so much time with injuries that I would guess he isn’t ready.

I think Abram Wiebe was the guy they would have brought in if they had to, but I know Schlossman has said on his podcast that he probably would have struggled if he came in this year.

DU or St Cloud wouldn’t be seeded in Fargo if either is a 1 seed and UND made it as a 4 seed. I expect Minnesota to be in Fargo. But it doesn’t matter because this team isn’t making the tournament without an incredible miracle that involves winning the NCHC tournament. And we can not even win 2 games in a row.

15 sog feels like a stretch right now

Sidorski is on the second pairing. He’s not going to be one they rotate out. If they rotate anyone it’ll be with the third pairing guys.

I don’t have issues with him. And I don’t think he’s exactly been put in a position to succeed either. I think him and Moore make the same costly mistakes, and playing them on the same pairing is questionable at best. So I think what’s happened is that they’ve determined only one of them can be in the lineup and they’ve gone with Moore. I would put him in as the extra skater. Spot him some shifts with some other defensemen, see how it goes.

On the one hand, they average less than 3 goals per game. On the other hand, we give up on average 3 goals a game. I’m sensing a 3-2 /4-3 type of game.

I know he’s accelerating but last I heard he couldn’t commit until this summer, and that wasn’t that long ago. But what do I know… *shrugs*

Hensler can’t commit until August.

Which is exactly why they wanted him to defer. His time and development would have been wasted if they brought him in this year, just to have him scratched frequently. He was behind Blake, McLaughlin, James and Strinden. And James and Strinden have been scratched quite a bit.
