Slipec in particular plays 4th line minutes on a deep team so he should definitely play another year in the USHL so he can potentially earn increased minutes next season once some of the Steel’s top guys move in to college.
Wondering if the fact that we haven’t had 8 healthy d-men all season is playing a role. From my memory only 2 defensemen haven’t been sick or injured and missed a game or more at some point this season. I don’t really know if it’s a factor but just an observation.
Im also starting to wonder if Driscoll bailed them out more than we may have thought last year and this year we haven’t had our goaltending be able to save us (DeRidder at Minnesota the exception)
Our goaltending and defensive zone play still makes me uneasy so I don’t feel that great going into this weekend. Hoping we can at least win one of the games.
I don’t think they ever planned for Hellsten to be anything more than a backup who can play a few handfuls of games every year. Hedquist, to me, has always been seen as the heir apparent. Hellsten has his moments but he’s also had some stinkers.
