I’m not as high on Q-pac as others. Still think they’re solid though. They have 8 freshmen so they’ve had some turnover from last year. I’ll be curious to see how we match up.

I would rather see pretty much any line combo for our top line than the one that played tonight. I like Gaber, Schmaltz and Caulfield as players but I haven’t liked them together as a line. I think there’s gotta be something that’ll work better.

There’s no one to play center if you take both Strinden and Ness out. So I don’t think Strinden is coming out. They’d have to move either Senden or Costantini to 4th line center and that’s definitely not going to happen. I agree with you on the top line. I’m not a fan of it right now. I think they want to keep Gaber and Schmaltz together because they played all last year together, but I’d rather we try something different.

As I said earlier it gives their fans false hope! They play all these cupcakes, get a 7-1 record or whatever and then hit NCHC play and fall back into reality of being a completely average team. UND is their first NCHC opponent they play this season

You mean Omaha’s usually cupcake schedule before NCHC play to give their fans a false sense of hope might not work?

I wasn’t surprised they didn’t know. The ones they asked are also not from the area. Costantini is from Ontario and Sidorski, who was also mentioned saying he didn’t know either, is from New York. I feel like it’d be more something the more local/Minnesota guys might know, but not the guys from out East.

Gabe was injured a lot. Luke has been relatively healthy both at UND and previously in juniors.

Yeah- I’d say that’s more of an observation to me. At times I think he feels like everything is on his shoulders. I thought this last year too. And he was great last year but I never felt he had linemates he really clicked with. I hope we can find some for him this year.

I actually wouldn’t be surprised if either Blake or McLaughlin will move to Gaber’s line. Berry didn’t want both of them on the same line based on the article in the Herald last week, but with the illness going through the team they probably didn’t have much choice. I bet they try one of them with Gaber.

Denver has like 10 fans. So They’re not going to have a message board. NCHC teams that have message boards (or have previously, cannot confirm if they are still active) : Western Michigan, Omaha, Miami, SCSU.

Also listed in the preview article that Dominic Basse is a returning UND goaltender, in addition to a CC departure and SCSU addition.

I think that’s for next season. But don’t know for sure besides it not being changed yet.

Better goal for Gaber would be surpassing 20 goals. Schlossman had that article on him today and it mentions only a handful of UND players in the last 10 years have even passed 20 goals. Frattin had 36 in 2011, so he’s the last UND guy to pass 30, and obviously that team was pretty stacked.

UNDER. Because rarely are players scoring 30 goals these days.

I actually heard another podcast with Chris Peters over the summer and he was asked what college hockey program he would recommend for top prospects to consider and he specifically mentioned UND and UMD as his top two college hockey programs.

Yeah that’s definitely not right. UND brings back 74% of scoring back, which is one of the higher returns I’ve seen.

I have no idea what some of you people are looking at so I have decided You must be looking at last year’s ranking because this year’s ranking UND is 4 and SCSU is 12. Pretty sure we were 11 in last year’s though.

The one from Chris Peters on FloHockey wasn’t even a ranking. It’s just teams to watch for various reasons.

Ha I was going to say I thought we’d been pretty good prior to Thanksgiving recently… The 19-20 team had 1 loss in the entire first half.

I don’t know for sure, but I kind of feel like it was just assumed we were. But considering we tend to recruit mostly out of junior hockey these days and he’s at Shattuck I never really thought he was considered a high priority.
