Just speculation, but the 3rd goalie might not be a freshman (academically). It's going to be a walk on, so since they didn't add one before school started it makes me think they are thinking of adding someone already on campus. So it could be someone who's been on campus a year or two. Of course, this is just speculation. I don't actually know anything concrete...

Technically, he wasn't born and raised in Eden Prairie. He was born in Minnesota, yes. Then I believe he spent some time away from MInnesota in Indiana I believe and returned to Minnesota sometime before high school and then went to Ann Arbor. His dad played at Bemidji and I heard a family friend works for the UND Alumni Foundation, so they do have some ties. So he really didn't grow up in Eden Prairie if you think about it.

What I gathered was that the university ordered the mandatory counseling for Fratts, and the rest was Hakstol. That's what I read into it, but I'm not for certain.

Ok... I live by Frattin. I admit it. The "traffic" that would need to be diverted? Oh please. Who drives on that little service road off Columbia that is a one-way anyways? Particularly at 3 in the morning. That said, what they did was dumb and obviously they were going to get caught at that location. I'll be interested to see if there is any punishment. I admit I laughed when I read the story. I think my mom laughed even harder when I told her Finley gave the cop a fake name.

Everyone i've talked to is like, "you get arrested for that?" I wasn't all that surprised to hear they did this. Just when I thought the off season was getting boring. However, now I know that I cannot throw my kitchen table out into the street. Good to know.

Just an FYI -- Nick Mattson is playing for the Indiana Ice, not Ohio... Ohio's only USHL team is Youngstown, which traded Nick to Indiana. I think the info in Brad's blog was a typo. The link is in one of my posts above in this thread.

Mattson is playing in the USHL next year though. He's been linked to, like, 3 different teams there for next season. He was on Des Moines affiliate list, then his rights got picked up by the new USHL franchise in Youngstown, OH... and I also just read that he then got traded to Indiana. Kid's been bouncing around it seems...

Max Tardy was drafted by st louis -- he's going to UMD. our recruit, Derek Forbort, is not draft eligible until next year.

First of all... TOEWS. (might of been a typo, but after spending a week working hockey camp with girl campers who don't know who he is... i'm a bit ...ugh!) And secondly, I couldn't give a crap about Minny or Wisco and the players they have or are going to have. And i think it's dumb to judge our incoming classes based on other teams. I trust we recruit the right players for our team and they'll come out of here better than when they came in. My 2 cents...

We almost share a brain... My thoughts were exactly that, only switching Toews and Trupp around so Trupp is between Hextall and Gregoire and Toews between Cichy and Kristo. Either combination could work in my opinion though...

Most of the fwds from last years top 2 PP units are back. You have Vandy and Hextall from the top unit and Frattin, Trupp, and Gregoire from the 2nd unit. The issue is definitely who does the point. Aside from Genoway and Marto, you need 2 others to run the point. I got the feeling last year that LaPoint may be a guy that the coaches thought at some point could be at one of the points. I also think I remember seeing Trupp at the point on the PP a few times. Interesting...

I've seen Mattson play on TV. I have not seen Carter Rowney play so I'm not going to get into that whole argument about who should or should not be coming in. Thats what the coaching staff gets to do their job. There are probably reasons why Mattson is playing for Omaha instead of coming to UND this fall. Knight was told to stay in the AJHL b/c the Sioux coaches preferred him develop there as opposed to being stuck on the 3rd or 4th line next season. It's possible they told Mattson the same thing, which tells me they expect both of them to be impact players right away when they come in 2010.
