SIOUX Recruits - 2008-09 Updates, Monitoring Their Junior League Play
siouxforce19 replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Did some research... Knight is staying in the AJHL according to this... http://www.discoverfoothills.com/index.php...&Itemid=258 The Okotoks Oilers will have sniper Corban Knight back for another year. The talented forward has been offered a scholarship to the University of North Dakota but they want him to stay here for another year. That's music to the ears of Oilers Coach Dan MacDonald. He says it's really big for the Oilers because Knight's such a great offensive player and brings solid leadership to the team. He says they should do very well with Knight back in the line-up for another year. MacDonald says he talked to the coaches with the Fighting Sioux and they indicated it's better for Knight to stay here and be a star versus being a 3rd or 4th line player with them. -
I'll agree with that, he didn't play that well, him and the rest of Team Canada. But I saw a couple of Canada's other game's and he looked pretty good in those to me.

So. did anyone else just see ryan duncan on cbc during the sidney crosby segment? i cracked up. it was brief.

Seriously... can we quit this Pens/Bruins debate? They didn't play in the postseason. There's no reason to argue over what will never happen in this postseason... There's no reason to argue what happened in the season either b/c everyone knows it doesn't matter what happened during the season in the postseason. so whoever started this debate, let's end it now. that said.... Pens/*yawn*Red wings... thoughts?

Your BRAVE idea reminds me of a time... In high school our mascot was the Mohawks and they made us change... so we became the Thunderhawks. There was a rival high school down the road who were called the Braves... and they made them change. And guess what they changed to? the BRAVE. It actually really pissed me off b/c i didn't consider that a change at all... i was young and in fact i didn't even notice the change for a few years after they apparently changed it. And now I'm just really bitter about my school having to change for the second time in my life. haha. oh well. I apologize for my little rant just now. Needed to get that off my chest.

Obviously after he left... if she would have said it to his face I probably would have interjected with some comments of my own. It was a long night, so I decided to keep a lid on it.

This one time... I was in a cab with Joe Finley after a night out. After he got dropped off this girl started going off about how he was the reason we didn't go to the frozen four. And here I am, rolling my eyes, thinking... "yes, because one person is totally to blame for a team giving up 6 goals." Anyways, I still maintain that one person is not to blame for mistakes because EVERYONE makes them at some point. Collectively, as a team, you lose a game. There is usually more than one reason for a loss. The UNH game, you could say that it was Finley's fault on that one goal, but really, we were up 5-3 in that game in the 3rd, so clearly other stuff happened to contribute to losing the game. Win as a team, lose as a team. And that's all I need to say.

Zach Jones was an aggressive D-man who knew his role: to stop the puck from going in our net. He was a team-first player who helped the team by sitting out some games to let Ben Blood get game-time experience, which was HUGE down the stretch when Derrick LaPoint went down. Jones was a defense-first guy who did his job and got very little credit for it. Genoway is a different kind of D-man, which is good because we need an offensive D-man as well, but a guy like Jones shouldn't be taken for granted either. Everyone will remember his temper, and that's fine ... but he's not the only one on our team with a temper. I'll miss his team-first mentality and his aggressive defensive play.

I feel like a kid on Christmas! I am stoked!

I'm WAY past bored with the whole Detroit thing. In fact, my hatred is growing by the day. I would rather stick pins in my eyes than watch them win another Stanley Cup.
-
Speaking of Dell... he's already in GF. I've crossed paths with him at the Ralph a few times. The first time was back in April, didn't know who it was aside from the fact that it was one of the Alberta recruits, so I did some research and figured out who it was. He must be pretty amped to be here already...
-
we don't replace them... we develop new ones!
-
true story there....
-
When really it wasn't just BE that gave up 6... it was the entire blue line. We gave them too many odd man rushes.
-
BU didn't have that much hype preseason though. A little, but not like DU has right now. They got a lot of hype once the season got going... so it's a little bit different case. Remember, BC was the preseason number 1 team in the country?

How EXACTLY can one be a Sioux fan and a Gopher fan? Seriously. The Sioux and the Gophers hate each other, their fans hate each other -- it's just not possible (for a normal, sane, hockey fan anyways)... that's the way it's always been. Are you a Vikings and a Packers fan too? Yankees and Red Sox? Sounds like a bandwagon thing to me....
-
Where's the keg? Because all this "discussion" is driving me to drink... or at least thinking about it.
-
All this hype for Denver could come crashing down all around them for all they know. (I'm expecting it) It could be a kiss of death like it was for CC. I'm waiting for a potential EPIC FAIL.
-
EVERYONE on a team plays a KEY ROLE. that's why they call it a TEAM. get over it!
-
Just wanted to say CONGRATS to Ryan Duncan, Brad Miller, Ryan Martens, Zach Jones, and Aaron Walski who graduated with me today! Great work finishing your degrees and best of luck wherever you end up in life!

College Hockey News: An Early Top 10 for 2009-10
siouxforce19 replied to Goon's topic in Men's Hockey
If they want to go ahead and think a couple a Ivys are on par with the likes of the WCHA/CCHA/Hockey East.... they can go right ahead. I know the truth. I'm still baffled by Minnesota. I can't get over it. I feel they should be listed under the "Could be good if Jordan Schroeder returns, Kangas stops sucking, and the rest of their players figure out how to contribute to an offense and play hockey." category, not a Top 10 list. I think there's a love affair with Minnesota. Thats a lot of IF's if you ask me. There are teams with less question marks that at this point, could be more legit than Minnesota. Someone brought up Wisconsin. Anyways, I'm over it. Carry on! -
Of course you do
-
Just saying... don't assume. I hate that. NOW we can all talk about the wing/hawks matchup.
-
I'm sorry... I wasn't aware Detroit had already won...
-
He didn't WOW me like a one-and-done player should. Though, I will not be disappointed if he doesn't come back.
