That sounds good but not sure you can do it. Who is going to verify that players really are unavailable for injury/sickness/whatever ? That too could be manipulated by coaches. I would rather they simplify it. If a team backs out of a game and it is not rescheduled then it goes down as a forfeit and counts as a loss in the pairwise.

Why shouldn’t this count as a loss due to forfeit ? If there is no repercussions for canceling games then what is there to stop a team from canceling a game late in the season when a loss would drop you out of the NC$$ tourney ? If my memory serves, UND played some games a few years ago when they couldn’t field a full lineup. Don’t think there was any consideration of quitting.

If missing the playoffs means Zimmer & Spielman are fired then I’m all for missing the playoffs. Zimmer should never ever ever have any input on offensive philosophy.

Based on just the first period the answer is no.

You need a combination of both. Do we win a title without the heavy line ? Not sure, but I am sure we don’t win a title without the CBS line.

The play calls when going for two are just baffling.

After having success stretching the field in recent weeks the Vikings brain trust has decided to go ultra conservative again and take the safe three yard throws and then punt. If that is the game plan, why in the hell do you pay a QB 30+ million per year ?? Very easy to find a QB at minimum salary that can do the same.

I think we’re in the end days of the Zimmer era.

Hopefully the third period will be our best of the weekend, especially in the defensive zone.

I think Driscoll needs to play better but my god the defense zone play is not very good.

Terrible defensive play by Frisch. Plays on the top pairing…kind of says it all about our defensive play this year. Is it coaching, players, ?? The sad part is we are not showing improvement as the season goes on.

“Gotta come ready at the opening puck drop”, “have to be more disciplined”, blah, blah, blah. Rinse and repeat next Friday.

We’re closing in on the halfway point of the season and our defense and goaltending are just brutal. I see a team that plays soft and without energy in way too many games. No excuse for this, it is not North Dakota hockey.

Not a fan of allowing players to transfer at will. I would rather the rule is modified to only allow transfers after the first year. That gives the player a year to see if the school is the right fit. The other exception I would allow is if the head coach leaves then anyone can transfer. All other transfers would require the player to sit out a year.

I don’t have much confidence in Driscoll so far but to be fair the defense has struggled. There is little to no chance of winning a natty when a goalie has a sub .900 save percentage. Need to start showing improvement fairly soon. I think what bothers me the most is that he flops around quite a bit and seem out of position a lot. Again, with an improvement on defense maybe this goes away. As Duluth has shown, you do not need to be a top team during the regular season you just need to make the tourney. Once in the tourney you do need sound defense and a shutdown goalie. If you have that you can string together four wins even if you aren’t the best team. Goals against average and save percentage will tell the tale of this season. Keep the goals allowed to two or less and I like our chances. Continue giving up over 2.5 goals per game and we have little hope for #9.

Since UND had two first downs that may add a few seconds to the theoretical clock. The clock stops after a first down until the chains are set but I assume the 40 second play clock does not. So you may need add 6-10 second back for each first down. That would put the clock at 1:10-1:18.

There were 6 plays run but the clock only ran after 5 of them. A timeout was used after play number 6. Let’s say each play takes 5 seconds and you snap the ball on average with 3 seconds on the play clock. The six plays should then take (5+37)*5+5=215 seconds or 3:35 If we started with 4:33 on the clock it should now be at 0:58.
