  1. Sure it can...you could lose to Anchorage. I hope the BADgers can get better in the future. The huge six way Sioux, Gopher, Bucky, JBSU, Duluth, and Mankato rivalry is great for college hockey. The better the teams are, the sweeter it is when we beat you all So we now have a Wisco fan on the board. We now have representatives from the Sioux (obviously), Gophers, Mankato, Duluth, and Wisco, as I understand it.
  2. Hey!!...Ok, so that could happen (cough, alternator failure, cough, emergency landing,cough...all Aerospace students will apreciate the humor in that, except for one (I hope she doesn't read this board) What's with the hatin'? Back on topic. I really don't know if this is a good idea or not. While a hockey-themed restaurant would be pretty cool, but a 60 ft. hockey guy?...
  3. If he wants a degree in aviation, this is the place to go. Other WCHA schools with aviation degrees: JBSU and Mankato (qulity of programs don't compare). Plus were going to be a better hockey team . The Sioux should definately take a look at this guy because I would guarantee he is taking a look at UND.
  4. Not that I have anything against the Kings, but do you suppose that might leave Murray more inclined to leave early, being that he may be playing for his dad. Assuming, of course, that he is still around as coaches seem to be hired and fired on a weekly basis in the NHL. I think Murray is doing a great job in LA and may be still around in a few years though. Thoughts?
  5. Glad to see that the Wild have gotten a pretty highly touted player. We'll see how he performs in the next few years at Minnesota.
  6. Do you have the name of said player?
  7. What a shock With all the Sioux draftees going to NJ, I might have to become a Devils fan Sioux becoming a Devils feeder system?? Best thing that he could have wanted to happen (besides getting drafted by the Wild ). The Devils are very good at develoing young players and I'd imagine size wouldn't be a huge factor a la Brain Gionta and Scott Gomez.
  8. I think that they are both going to stay another year. Vanek will be gone after next season and Parise will be here for at least another one after that. I don't know what kind of money Vanek will have thrown at him by Buffalo, but they do need him pretty desperately. The Devils may want Parise to stay around for a few more years. Look what it did for Brian Gionta.
  9. When are people going to realize that killing other people is simply not cool . They should be tried in Texas...and lit up like a m*ther f*cking christmas tree. Condolences to the family, this type of thing should never happen.
  10. How do you figure? My guess would be Murray will be here 3 years tops. As far as Parise's draft position...please, God, NOT the Rangers, anybody but them.
  11. For at least 2 of the years It will only satisfy me the other 5 because Michigan will not have won it, or any eastern team for that matter.
  12. SI has him going to Montreal with the 10th pick. I agree with Shooter that J.P. will go in the the top ten (moron)
  13. It has been my understanding (and please, correct me if I am wrong because I might be) that Woog didn't want Goerhing, or didn't offer him enough, which is why he went here. Second of all, just be cause a kid is good in PeeWee's and Bantams doesn't mean he will be a good college or even high school player. Blais made a judgement call on Potulny, worked out for the Gophers. If Ryan was so highly talked about as a college recruit at these ages, why did I never hear of him, or Grant for that matter? (Remember I didn't grow up here) Finally, I agree with ScottM that we shold not recruit a player just because he played at RR or Central or even EGF. He is right that there are some fans up here who love the GF kids and get their panties in a bunch when they are not recruited to play here. Blais gets paid to win, not recruit local boys. There is not a coach in the NCAA that would recruit somebody who is a decent player just because he is from the area. That's just ridiculous.
  14. Damn him to hell!!! On a more serious note, I wouldn't expect Parise to wear the C next year, but I do agree an A is possible.
  15. Quit flaming our board and go back to POI Thanks for the link. It was nice to see NCAA hockey get some recognition, even if it was the Rodents. Hopefully next year it will be a Sioux jersey that is being handed to him ...(sorry, I couldn't resist)by Parise.
  16. This thread is starting to sound awefully familiar....can't think of why Student Seating...Here We Go Again!! Can we say Deja Vu?? (Not the "club" the feeling)
  17. At Old REA the students had one CORNER behind the opposing goaltender, not behind the net (I should know...I sat there). Again though, students do feel we are treated like second class there (New REA). To be honest though, it has gotten better over the past year.
  18. I agree, the atmosphere in both the old Mariucci and Eglestad was much better than the new respective arenas. The Gophers have seemed to deal with the lack of atmosphere the last few years, so to speak. Hopefully this year the Sioux will be able to cope as well.
  19. That's probably right, I would be hard pressed to think that Parise, as good as he is, will stay all four years. I hope he will, but realistically after his junior year he will probably be offered a pretty big contract.
  20. I thought you Gophers loved "Parise" talk? ...We're just trying to reach out to you non-Sioux fans
  21. yeah, it happens all the time in college hockey.
  22. 3-7.....damn Winners: Hart: Forsberg (Now that I think about it...he did give the Avs a lot of PP time ) Selke: Lehtinen (Deserving, but....Walz got hosed!!! ) Calder: Jackman (As I said he would) Norris: Lidstrom (Probably one of the most underrated players in the league...very deserving) Vezina: Brodeur (Never a doubt...he is also sharing the Jennings with Roman Chechmanek and Robert Esche) Lady Bing: Mogilny (The exception to the rule in Toronto) Jack Adams: Jacques Lemaire (Easily the best active coach in the NHL, maybe even of all time...though Scotty Bowman might have something to say about that)
  23. The price has gone up ...it used to be a quarter How's this... We win the WCHA The Gophers and the Sioux let Duluth win the Final Five to be nice Sioux get #1 seed in the Springs, Rodents get a #1 out East. The Sioux massacre Goldy 22-0 for the NC, with Parise netting a hat trick (Jordan) and Zach and Money getting 6 each... ......objectively, of course
  24. I guess this means you guys are stickin around, huh
  25. I think the most Blais would hae done would say he would take a LOOK at Jordan. I highly doubt he said he WOULD bring him in if Zach came here.
