  1. sounds as if the Sioux are off to a good start...i have no way to listen to the game from here (I'm in Minneapolis)
  2. What in sam hell does that mean?...and I agree with flatspin7....it's 2003, lose the mullett Also, we can't check your stats if we don't know your name.
  3. I don't think you realize how big of a role defenseman play in hockey, especially David Hale. He's been drafted by the Devils who think he might be the next Scott Stevens (If you don't know who Stevens is...he's arguably the best defenseman in the NHL)!!! If the defense can't hold the zone, Parise, Boche and Notermann can't put it in the net, and if they can't clear our zone, they'll end up taking 30 or so shots a game and with our goaltending that's not good, plain and simple. Also our record without Hale should speak for itself.
  4. Don Adam actually has been fairly consistant this season, from what I've seen, but you're right on that Derek Shephard's consistancy has left a lot to be desired ever since last year's Gopher series. Good luck to the Sioux tonight...fans, you need to get them fired up.
  5. I must agree....the only comment of PCM's I disagree with is that it hasn't been the same team since the loss to Michigan Tech, when in fact it was the 8-0 win against Tech (I think you may have meant it this way)...AFTER that, the team went back to last year's ways
  6. case in point...Wade Dubliewicz played unbelievable against the Sioux, but got lit up for 8 goals against the Gophers
  7. Being right down where the refs come off the ice, there was no pop or popcorn (that I saw) being thrown on the refs...but some immature fan did spit on Schmitt
  8. yeah...like Pittis or Stauffacher, maybe TJ Caig too
  9. well said...best of luck to Dave Hale and Joe Exter on playing again. Nobody ever wants to see people get hurt the way Exter did against BU
  10. CC over AA in 2 (no brainer...if the games are close, it's all Kevin Reiter) Gophers over Tech in 3 (I believe Cam Ellsworth will steal one for Tech) Mankato over Wisconsin in 2 (I'm sorry, but the fact is Wisconsin sucks, as much as I would like to see an upset) Sioux will take Denver in 3 (We're back...we're a force to be reckond with at home) Duluth will dispose of St. Cloud in 2(I don't think Ryan Malone is 100%...SCSU - Malone = Snowballs chance in hell) Final Five...Sioux will get revenge on Duluth, Minnesota will take care of Mankato, the winner of CC and the Sioux will win the Final Five...I'll be at Xcel to represent and cheer on the Sioux
  11. Wouldn't that have been something if Goerhing had been in net for Columbus...two guys who almost singlehandedly brought a State Championship to Apple Valley (DeFauw had the Game winner in the 6 overtime classic against Duluth East, and Karl had 63 stops for the MSHSL record...oh yeah, Eric Westrum was there too, but who cares) playing against each other in the NHL...the Blue Jackets need to get on the ball Go Wild (I'm calling the Stanley Cup right here and now) And knowing flatspin7....that's the story of his life alright (jk, bud)
  12. I'll say the same thing I've been saying since St. Cloud State last season...if Brandt calms down, he could be a very good goalie. He just looks too nervous when he is in the game. I think he did that when he had 3 shutouts at the beginning of the season, but the pressure may have been two much for him since then. I think that we all agree that something needs to be done about the goaltending situation next year. I want to know why Blais didn't go after Issac Reichmuth, Kevin Reiter, or Cam Ellsworth, or if he did, how he didn't get them. Also, Goerhing and Schweitzer were the exceptions that prove the rule...we need big goalies Chovan and Fallon sound like their just what we need. On the "juniors are a joke" note, I went to high school with Troy Riddle of the Gophers. He left a year ealry to play for DesMoines, the amount that he improved from his MN State Championship junior year of high school to his fresman year with the Gophers was unbelievable. Also I hear that Andrew Alberts of BC (also on that state championship team) has improved a ton too.
  13. We tried the no cussing thing last year...all it did was divide the student section, and we were still the only ones cheering. If you have gone to any away games you'll realize that EVERY student section cheers the same way we do. That's how we cheer. As far as the newbies are concerned, if you don't know a cheer and want to...ask a regular, we'll tell you. We were in your position once, and had to have older fans show us the way. Also, sieving to the music is an SCSU, Wisc., and CC thing. And if you've seen a Wisconsin game, most of the crowd does not do it. And there are only about 5500 and 7000 seats at SCSU and CC's arena respectively, so the effect is seems greater than it actully is. Also, trust me when I tell you that the students do see the few fans standing up trying to get their section going and we appreciate it.
  14. One more note to Wantagh...At the old arena, students controlled almost half...now, we're split up into two levels and are just a handful of the arena...the problem lies with the "fans" from the Grand Forks community, They cheer for goals and thats about it. With the size of the arena, if EVERYONE joined in (like in St. Cloud) that place would be off the hook and the Sioux would be unstoppable at home (notice how loud it got when Boche scored 9 seconds after Parise...that's how much potential atmosphere that place has). But yes the student section was more merciless at the old arena, and it needs to get that way again.
  15. As much as I hate to say this...diggler has a point (I never thought I would agree with diggler). As part of the last class to watch a season at the old Englestad, I realize I am part of a dying breed. Unfortunately, with two years of not standing for the whole game, the students who were new during this time will not know any better. I don't think (however, I hope I am wrong) that there will ever be the same atmosphere in The Ralph (new) as there was at Englestad (old). a note to beersong...last year my friends and I went to the games in Duluth and we had no problems with cheering for our team (especially Saturday night), so don't feel guilty about doing it here. There were several comments in the student section of disgust that you guys were louder than us (the disgust being towards us). And you better believe we'll see you at the Final Five (At least I'll be there). And diggler...I belive we're getting sections 103 and 104 (directly behind the net)
  16. Boche's stick was above his waist...however the rule is ABOVE THE CROSSSBAR, his stick hit the back of the net as he swung, Schmitt obviously hasn't read the rulebook on that. At the same time though, we could have played much better than we did.
  17. I agree. Siembida didn't play that bad. He made the right decision on that last goal...he just came out too far banking on Jones forcing Stapleton taking a bad angle shot, Jones fell and Stapleton buried it. We also missed about 4 or 5 open nets today too.
