  1. I would lean on the "authentic replica" side. He had this helmet listed at over $2k at one point. I also would be willing to bet that when UND went logo free, they just took the stickers off most helmets, to save on buying new ones. Men's side is certainly different, as I have seen players helmets in personal collections before.
  2. True but I for one will not be attending that game in person. $100 SRO tickets is a little ridiculous...
  3. never a women's jersey either.
  4. relax francis
  5. nobody wanted ortiz, so dont make it sound like the twins just let him walk away.... http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/16656194/boston-red-sox-dh-david-ortiz-breakout-season
  6. He's an up and comer and the Twins see the upside in him. Baseball is turning into an analytical game mixed in with a little bit of old school tactics.
  7. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/the-twins-are-about-to-hire-a-33-year-old-as-their-new-president-184105987.html Sounds like they are going young and they are giving this young man the title of President...
  8. Tell that to the Bills, Browns, Bengals, Jaguars, Texans, Titans, Chargers, Eagles, Lions, Panthers, Falcons, Cardinals. Oh and don't forget to tell that to the Chicago Cubs....
  9. I'm not sure why you always bring up the packers when someone shows disdain for the Vikings, do you secretly like them? Not sure what sports media talks about the Packers 24/7 but if I were going to complain about any team that gets the most attention, I would say its the Patriots and at times the Saints (and they are not even great).
  10. As much as I hate to say it, good ol' Bill Belichick gets my vote (not that it matters) for coach of the year so far.
  11. Boone....
  12. No but they do need an O-Line. If Bradford keeps taking hits like he does he will be the next victim of the Vikings. I don't understand why all you Vikings fans get excited when you are 3-0, its a loooooong season and we all know how the Vikings CHOKE when its time to show up!!!!!!
  13. Anyone familiar with the Twins front office knows St. Peter has never had any influence over roster construction, scouting, or really anything to do with baseball operations. He’s a marketing, business, and communications guy, and always has been.
  14. Terry Ryan (and even the new GM) do not report to St. Peter. They don't and won't because as I have stated in the past, he has no direct hand in what they do. He isn't overmatched because he wasn't the one to put the team together, Terry Ryan and Rob Antony are the ones. A lot of MLB teams have positions that are for specific reasons, the Twins are no different. The title "President" is exactly what it is, a title.
  15. St. Peter runs the business side of the Twins and has no association with who they will draft, trade, sign, etc.... He has been doing a great job for the Twins in the aspect of bringing in money and marketing them to everyone outside the MPLS area. How and who is overmatching him at the current moment?
  16. I have a game worn Nick Mattson jersey with the Philly FF patch on it. PM if interested....
  17. I'd personally like the Semifinal and Championship game on HD DVD
  18. Is this a "I make it up as I go" theory?
  19. how much can we nickel and dime until it comes down to cutting a major sport (i.e. women's hockey)?
  20. Haha, yes Brad did give up A LOT of runs but at least with him, you knew you were going to get 7/8 innings of solid pitching. You just better make sure you have him more than 5 runs of support.
  21. My comment was in reference to someone saying that he was vastly underpaid before he got his big deal. To me teams don't care if you were underpaid and will not make it up down the road (i.e. Miami Heat/Dwayne Wade). At the time Mauer signed his deal was worth every bit of $23mm because he was the best catcher in the game but now that he has moved to 1B/DH, he isn't worth that amount of money for the productivity you get from him. His $23mm a year salary was not based off of just his hitting, it was based off of how important he was behind the plate. A-Roid, Hamilton, Pujols, Sabathia, Howard, Fielder and quiet possibly Bryce Harper were worth every bit of money when they signed their deals
  22. At the end of the day we have different views on the Twins and Joe Mauer but I would at least like to think we could have a beer and discuss it even more
  23. What I am saying is, yes he may hit .330 but what good does .330 do when you hit for singles and barely get anyone home? If you are going to hang your whole argument based off of how high his numbers are with RISP, then yes, runs scored and RBI's are a great stat to compare. Just because you hit .330 with RISP does not mean they score, he is just moving runners over. I somewhat agree that Mauer isn't the one hamstringing the Twins. Where I disagree is, I think there are other players that are not playing in positions they should be due to him taking up a spot. The Twins won't/can't get rid of him either, so they are stuck with an avg 1B/DH for the next 2 years. You don't get paid on what you have done in the past, you get paid on what you are doing now and he isn't worth $23mm, that's how sports work.
  24. Sad thing is, Brad Radke was no dominant ACE. He was a solid 3-4 starter who would give you 200+ inning each year. The Twins need Berrios to be better than that! That's great that he has career number of .330/.457/..472 but when you avg only 91 R/83 RBI/13 HR throughout your 13 year MLB career (62 R/7 HR/ 54 RBI avg since he took over at 1B/DH), that doesn't put you in the top 3 or 5 of best 1B/DH. That actually puts you way below avg and when you are getting paid $23mm a year, you are definitely not performing up to standards.
