I keep forgetting about them because they are not a "mainstream" sport but you do raise a good point.
-
Look, I cheer for most Minnesota professional sports teams ( a lot of UND alums either played or run the teams) but lets not kid ourselves here; there is no pro sports team in Minnesota that is close to winning a championship.
-
Probably but in the college hockey world, they are still below North Dakota.

I am serious. This whole post started as the B10 offering UND an affiliate membership in hockey and now it is spun out into a whole speculation process. The B10 hockey conference will not operate as a 7 team league, so they will add a new member specifically geared towards hockey (and if they can join in other sports great). The fact of the matter is, there are not many Big schools that offer hockey and other sports that fit the mold of what the B10 would like and these other school realize it. Schools like UND, BU, Miami, Denver, etc... are all in a good position to where they would not need to jump to the B10 unless it was beneficial ($$$) for them. Everyone knows how the B10 currently operates and what I am saying is that the B10 needs them more than they need the B10, so they should look at re-evaluating what they offer.
-
How do you know they would jump to be a full member? It seems to me that it is the B10 who wants the Universities badly, not the other way around. If the B10 wants to add another university, they better start rethinking what they are willing to offer.
-
Whatever you are smoking I want because you are waaaaaaaaaay off topic and you are also talking about MSU hockey on a UND message board...
-
We are not talking about overall budget because you are comparing apples to oranges. We are comparing hockey budgets.
-
I would be willing to bet UND's hockey budget is about the same as majority of the B10 schools...
-
must be on something...
-
UND has a higher budget but they also have a budget that is the same as Tech/MNSU? UND's hockey budget is much higher than both of those schools, why do you think UND is in the NCHC and Tech/MNSU in the WCHA?
-
In his defense, it was his all time favorite player list, not all best time Penguins players.
-
Are you saying UND has a hockey budget the same as Mankato and Tech?
-
I agree with that BU wouldn't leave but they are the only one I could think of that has the credentials that the B10 wants/needs.
-
None of those schools you listed from the WCHA would get an invite to the B10, they are in the WCHA for a reason. If the B10 wants to add another team, it will be someone from out East (BU).

I looked on the Sharks website and he is the 3rd goalie. I know his name won't get on Lord Stanley but wouldn't he still get a ring?
-
Uh...Aaron Dell is still contending for a Stanley Cup, isn't he?

Manny Ramirez, didn't show up because he just didnt want to go. Larry Bird said "If the president wants to see me, he knows where to find me" Pujols didnt go to see Bush or Obama because of previous humanitarian efforts and signing with a new team. LaRussa retired the four nascar drivers all had scheduling conflicts. My point being, the President didn't care that they showed up, why should the athlete care about going...

Harrison, says he'll skip the Super Bowl champion's visit to the White House to meet President Barack Obama on Thursday, just as he did when the Steelers were honored by President George W. Bush in June 2006. "I don't feel the need to go, actually, I don't feel like it's that big a deal to me." Harrison doesn't believe the invitation is all that special, saying if the Steelers hadn't beaten the Cardinals 27-23 with a last-minute rally, "He [Obama] would have invited Arizona." You can try and spin it anyway you want but Harrison explains it the best and proves that it is just a Dog and Pony show to make it seem like the President is a regular person.

I'll agree, Tampa does need to stay in the rotation but not for the reason you just gave.
-
hahaha my mistake that I fixed.... well played sir

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...... that is the most foolish thing I have heard all week. 1. We were comparing NCAA sports, not college hockey to a different league not associated with the NCAA 2. 30% of NHL rosters are made up of players who played in the NCAA 3. the only ones that consider MAJOR JUNIORS (difference between Junior hockey and Major Juniors) a step above college hockey are the ones who run the CHL, WHL and the QMJHL

I fully agree. My point was he told the team that he wasn't going to attend (fine by the team), the media didn't think that that answer was good enough so they pestered him tell he gave them what they wanted.
-
There is nothing wrong with turning down an invite to the White House, he has every right to do so and it wasn't until the media made a big deal about him not going he finally answered them. I don't see you bashing Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Matt Birk, James Harrison, Manny Ramirez, Mark Chumra, Tom Lehman, Albert Pujols, Tony LaRussa, Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, and Ozzie Guillen for not showing up to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave! In today's political climate, Presidents are constantly trying to make the rest of us believe they're like us — that they're regular guys. They are not regular guys, they run the flipping country and do not have time to worry about professional athletes. Do you really think that the President has time to watch sports on a regular basis? Why should an athlete give up a day of their off-season to attend a dinner at the White House?

who knew BIGSIOUX didn't know how to read?

Tim Thomas didn't make a huge spectacle about it; he wasn't being classless and he sure as heck wasn't standing on this so called "soap box". He told Peter Chiarelli in a private meeting that he wasn't going to attend, the media is the one who kept persisting the issue. Once the media wouldn't stop Thomas made a statement, "I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People. This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government. Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL."
