LOL on FSN. Following a PP goal by Bjugstad, Casey Hankinson blurts out 'and now the floodgates might open for the Gophers!'. 3 seconds later, Bemidji State scores. Kyle Rau completely flops, throwing himself into the air...and immediately a penalty is called on the Beavers...wow, just wow.

I do love the new Tech jerseys. If Michigan Tech can out-recruit LSSU and Northern Michigan (given the location of the schools, they are likely recruiting the same players), the Huskies could be very formidable in the new WCHA.

I like that too. Nice recruiting pitch...a message to Northern Michigan and Lake Superior Sate. Has anyone noticed St Cloud State doing the same thing since Motzko took over? Their shoulder patch was changed to one of the outline of the state if Minnesota. It used to be the same logo as the main crest - the Montreal Canadiens wanna-be's.

That's not the first time I've heard the 'college hockey Yankees' line. A few years ago, a local sports columnist was skewered by the press for saying the same thing...FSN TV deal...WCHA Final Five in its own backyard every March, biggest city in conference...top notch facility...ability to cherry-pick 95% of talent in area in terms of high school recruits...and despite ALL of these advantages, somehow not able to dominate the landscape year in and year out. I cannot remember the sportswriter...but I remember the comment. It might have been Patrick Reusse...
