I saw the stick. That's obvious. The banner is a bit too high on the shield. The top of the shield is barely visible and nothing there balances out the 8 stars on the bottom part.

You are absolutely correct on the attendance of the new tournaments starting next year. None will duplicate what we have seen since 2001 and the Xcel Energy Center. But you can't blame the X for trying to put butts in its seats, can you? They're hardly at fault.

Fixed your post. I'm pretty sure that the X has no idea when they send the renewal form out every year as to whether I'm a Sioux fan, Gopher fan, Badger fan, etc. I'm a name in a database that says I've had the same seats at the X for 12 years...therefore, I'm a potential customer when the Big 10 Tournament comes to the X...and for that matter, when the WCHA tournament comes back as well.

The WCHA works in partnership with the Xcel Energy Center. Why wouldn't the WCHA want to try to get Big 10 fans to come to their tournament the years the Big 10 is in Detroit?

Niagara is a good example...I think the CCHA may house another one.

Or driving from St Paul to Bloomington after the '89 loss to Harvard?

That's a tough gritty team. Kudos to their head coach...he's done an outstanding job in the past two seasons there. The conference tournaments are going to be very interesting. I think some upsets may lead to a bubble team getting an auto-bid to the tournament and someone who is pretty sure that they're in is going to be sitting at home watching 16 other teams play.

I heard from a friend of mine whose dad's uncle's ex-wife was at the game and he said the Sioux seniors were a total disappointment on Saturday night and needed to play harder.

All kidding aside, the River Hawks are a solid team. Their coaching staff has done an excellent job over the past two seasons. That win over Miami in last year's NCAA tournament was no fluke.

The Gwozzer had four legitimate gripes last night...goal waived off, Gopher goal that looked like it was kicked in, Minny penalty not called followed immediately by Gopher power play (and 2nd goal), and icing not called that led directly to 3rd goal...

The homer broadcast crew brushed over it pretty quickly too. DU player took a stick below his chin which put him flat on his back....then the back of his head hit the ice. He looked pretty wobbly as he left the ice. Also, the third goal was scored on what should have been an icing call. Officials ruled that puck hit a player at the blue line before bouncing off the boards but it clearly did not. Doug McLeod, watching the game with his maroon goggles on, promptly noted that 'those breaks even up eventually in a long season'.
