I watched Bemidji and Minny again tonight, siouxvikes. The game was 2-1 late in the second and Goldy picked up a cheap late one. Even Gopher homer announcers pointed out that Minnesota was dominated in the 2nd period, yet still somehow led by 2. In the 3rd, the Beavers had SEVERAL great chances but Wilcox made some great saves. Minny picked up two cheapies late in the game to make the final 5-1. Per the announcing crew - Bemidji gave Minnesota all it could handle this weekend and they expect two tough games next weekend. But you go ahead and just look at your iphone app CHN that says '5-1 Gophers' and call it a blowout...

So the MacNaughton Cup can't make an appearance last night in Madison...but it can be shipped to Bemidji tonight 'just in case'?

The Sioux aren't locked in at all. A UND win and a Gopher los or tie means #2 seed for the Sioux. A Gopher win means Minny gets the 2 seed. I thiught the scenarios had been beaten to death already but apparently not.

When did private schools in MN have their own hockey tournament? In ND, Dickinson Trinity dropped to Class B about 15 years ago. In a sport where a school might make the state boys basketball tournament once every 20 years, Trinity has now made something like 9 of the last 13 state tournament appearances. I hate that school with a passion.

If you think Bemidji puked that game away last night, it's only because the official decided to stick his finger down their collective throats with about 6:00 in the game. The penalty call directly affected the outcome. I saw very few stretches where Minnesota actually controlled the play and tempo. BTW...9 of Bjugstad's 19 goals are on the PP. I think Bemidji gives Goldy another tough game tonight.

That's becoming a regular habit resulting in Gopher goals...it happened last week as well on Saturday night against Denver.
