What is the point of keeping the nickname if we don't have athletics. Then who do we cheer for...NDSU? Minnesota? I know I will always cheer for my favorite FBS team Nebraska. But sports would be very boring around here without UND.

I wouldn't mind getting "on" Palin.

I have 3 kids a 10 yo, 5yo, and a 2yo and I have seen them act up in public and at home. Its not a pretty sight. So if having a timeout in a room is the answer then so be it. I know if I acted up in school a locked room is better than the other choice I had....telling my father with a belt in his hand I acted up in school.

That is exactly what they should do.

#1--means Al Carlson could become appointed to the ND Game and Fish? No thanks. #2-- no brainer, its a way to get rid of our surplus. I am voting no #3-- I have no clue what this measure even means. I probably will vote no, unless there is a reason to vote yes. #4--Yes. The obvious choice.

How many people are going to blame the wording of the measure as an excuse to vote the way they did. Yes means no to the nickname.

I am voting YES, and has told my parents to vote yes as well. UND's athletics need to be saved and voting yes makes that happen. Unlimited teams to schedule, better choice of recruits, and the big one.....HOME PLAYOFF GAMES!!!!!!

We are still unknown to the FCS media. Get some bigtime upset wins and people will take notice.

I wish they would. Hates me to say this but maybe they should come out and say if the name stays I am voting to boot out UND. No team on sanctions belongs in the BSC. Then maybe the voters who are on the fence will vote to retire the name, and end this whole thing.

What BSC presidents have come out publically against the nickname?? I know there are fans mad at UND joining because of the travel, Fullerton is not thrilled about the nickname but ISU has been silent, Montana and Montana State has said nothing why isn't these presidents saying anything. You would think that would be more ammo in retiring the name but so far no one except Fullerton has said a word.

You do realize that means 13 presidents have to rule in favor of this.....easier said than done. Some look at more than just athletics.

5 out of 13 play an all DI schedule. Thats not even half. Now I don't feel so bad we have SD Mines on the schedule (its better than 3 non DI teams last year).

Nothing wrong with that...UND is in the Big Sky, GWC (baseball), and WAC(swimming).

No thanks as a full member or as a non football member. I can see NDSU leaving the Summit (minus baseball) but not the MVFC.

With the exception of the FSU Seminoles what does all these teams have in common??? They are PRIVATELY owned. They are not public institutions. Just like the city of GF, nor the state of ND can force the Privately owned Big Sioux Truck Stop to change its name the MLB, NFL, NHL cannot force these teams to change their names. Even Dan Snyder owner of the Redskins came out and said he is not chaning the name of HIS team. UND is different they are a public institution run by the SBoHE and they are a member of the NCAA so actually its NCAA > SBoHE > UND in the foodchain. FSU got delagates to back them up, ND's delagates stayed in Washington playing poker. The Seminole tribe approved the name immediately after the policy the Sioux Nations of the SR and SL could have done the same but SR said no and SL had no comment. That no comment is what sent UND into retirement. I am a Cleveland Indians fan (since 1993) but I liked the team especially in 1994 prior to the strike, plus my favorite movie is Major League. If Cleveland changed its name I would still cheer them on.

What if the SL tribal council held another vote among tribal leaders and voted to retire the Sioux name....would you still fight to keep the name? Under the settlement the name has to be immediately retired if at ANY time the Tribal Council votes to get rid of UND's nickname.

Dave if you love the name so much since you won't cheer for UND after its retired there is a high school on the Standing Rock Reservation that has the nickname Fighting Sioux you could be a fan of that team.

And wrestling is full of DIII teams so what? WCHA was founded with UND, Denver, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State (stop me if these teams seem like small potatoes to you).

Don't forget the 9 million theads on Bville that is UND related. That is always fun to read. I will forget about NDSU having hissy fits when UND appeared in the polls. No measure...got it Dan!

Depends if the Summit keeps losing members then it could be all for nothing unless more NCC teams join the SL.
