Wyoming, Nebraska, and Iowa State are right now the only available regional FBS teams with the current nickname. Retire the name and Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota become available.

Was anything said about what its going to say on the turf? I can imagine maybe the Big Sky name and/or logo but the endzone will it say Sioux or would they play it safe with North Dakota.

Maybe Carlson wants to combine UND and NDSU into one...kinda like that nutjob who wanted a stadium in Hillsboro and a bullet train from Fargo to Grand Forks. Leave the academics at UND but keep the athletics at NDSU.

But if the name stays our athletic teams will slowly go down the drain like Alcorn State except ASU has a conference we won't (except hockey), so that means UND will have to find 11 teams to schedule in football and roughly 32 for basketball. Without a conference thats a lot of money coming out of the athletic department which will slowly go down the drain until we pull an Omaha and drop football but then no money for basketball without a home so we drop basketball, except the NCAA tells UND you have to have a minimum number of sports to remain in the NCAA, and since hockey is not in the NAIA...you get where this is leading to, and all for a nickname and logo.

If you pick to retire the name UND will be off of sanctions, will be able to host football playoff games and scheduling will become easier. If you vote to keep the name. No matter how good our football team does we will NEVER see them host a playoff game, scheduling will be tougher (South Dakota State has threatened to cancel the 2013 game), and we will continue to lose recruits to teams that can host a playoff game like NDSU, SDSU, and USD. For the good of the school and the athletic department...retire the name. For those who ONLY believe in a nickname instead of the athlete...vote for the name. Just remember Grand Forks Central has had their name retired against their will (GF School Board) and its been Redskin-less since 1991. GFC has won titles in hockey, football, and basketball since. UND can survive without the Fighting Sioux name and logo.

I think teams will wait until the June vote is over whether to commit playing UND. Of course the usual 3 (Minny, UW, and Iowa) won't be on there if we keep the name.

I am from ND and I will vote yes to retire the name. Also I live close to the Stop-N-Go on 19th ave.

UND did win a National Title in hockey as an Independant...1959!

IMO its too close to call. You have the folks that still believe the NCAA and the BSC are just BSing about these sanctions and booting us out, on the other hand you are having more and more UND officials, coaches and more importantly former players coming out saying this will hurt the university and its time to retire the name for the good of the athletics program. Plus they changed the wording on the measure you now have to vote yes to retire the name and no to keep the name. I think that alone may swing the vote either way. Do people think that the NCAA will care how the people in Sioux County will vote on this? They care what the Tribal Council will say not the people. Until the tribal council listens to their people like they did at Spirit Lake they will NEVER change their mind. RETIRE THE NAME!!! VOTE YES!

As of right now I am stuck with Cable One (Fargo) but I do get the FSSN...but we were thinking of switching to Directv in a couple months.

I think with our 7 home games and with those 4 at home we have to be a favorite for the playoffs. At least we know attendance will be good!!

If we play the home and home with USD we would have 11 games set up in 2014. OOC vs USD, and Robert Morris and at San Jose State so barring any backouts we would be set for the next 2 years with no worries at all.

Nope but right now we have 7 home games and only 4 road games can't get any better than that. No FBS and no NAIA/DII.

2013 is a 12 game year. That would be great to continue playing South Dakota.

How does the pass protection look with whoever is at QB? I think this is a major key to our success in the passing game.

Does anyone know what games wil be on FCS?? We have Montana on Root but what about FCS?
