I say UND should follow UNI...schedule a DII team ONLY if all the FCS teams are not available.

UND would then need to speed up their future stadium ideas either build a new "football only" stadium or remodel Memorial Stadium to say 20-25K. Alerus won't cut it to move up to the FBS.

I agree with this...this game is used to fix the bugs, tweak the playbook, and get ready for PSU without any injuries.

I would think UND would then consider an FBS study. But until that happens we won't get there for a long time.

I too am with you. My excitement will be at max capacity when its Potato Bowl week against Portland State...to me SD Mines is like getting excited for an NFL preseason game.

A lot of us who are voting yes to retire the name and end the sanctions want UND to have a new name..eventually. We need to take steps first, and the first step is to retire the Sioux name, then at a later time we can worry about a replacement. ULM (Louisiana-Monroe) retired their Indians name and went with Warhawks. To me that sounds cool. So just because some schools pick dumb replacements there are some that can pick a nice replacement (of course nothing can fully replace Fighting Sioux).

I have 2 Sioux hockey jerseys, a bunch of Sioux hats (even one with the Blackhawk logo on it), 2 Sioux fingers (one of them from the 86-87 hockey season), Sioux shirts, hoodies, etc. I will continue to wear them even if the name is retired. I still have my Grand Forks Central Redskins jacket. I got it from the school store in 1991 right when the name was being retired. Do I still cheer for the "Knights"....always, why? Because its Grand Forks Central!!! Just like if UND becomes the UND Fighting whatever....I will always cheer for them because they are UND and that is one name that will never go away!

I would just think the IPF would be a waste if UND was forced to keep the nickname. You have the facilities but no home playoff game...it cancels both of them out.

Exactly. You don't practice you don't play. Most if not all coaches have that as their policy. If an NFL player came out and said I am not going to practice because I don't want to...he won't play. If it was a medical reason he would play but the excuse "I don't want to" that doesn't fly. Its not abuse. If he bitchslapped her in front of the team that is abuse but making her apoligize isn't.

That 16 year old will want money, a car, laptop, cell phone, etc. Unless she has a job to pay for all that....she won't be so quick to tell him where to get off.

UND leaving the NCAA isn't going to matter to the NCAA. They don't care about UND. They know with hockey UND needs the NCAA or else UND won't make money on their #1 sport. I am sure UND can survive the NAIA with games against top dogs Mayville State, and Jamestown but hockey won't survive. Name stays = doom for UND athletics. Plain and simple.

Carlson will tell voters to vote no and stick it to the NCAA. Carlson doesn't give a crap about UND athletics. If he did he would listen to UND coaches, players, alumni, and the little thing called....FACTS! (losing recruits, banned from an Iowa track meet, no playing Minny, UW, in hockey starting in 2013-2014, no home football playoff games).
