  1. This is why I would rather see UND play NDSU one year, USD the next, and SDSU after that. Just rotate every year.
  2. Thats why it took 11 years to do that while in the meantime you played powerhouses in Morgan State, Wagner, St. Francis, and Lafayette.
  3. Just because you want the name retired doesn't mean you are for PC. I am anti-PC. But I am also a realist, and I see what problems await UND if they keep the name. The NCAA is the boss in this and its not like UND is changing the name to be PC, they are doing this because the NCAA said do it or get punished. Like mom and dad telling you as a kid clean your room or you will be in trouble. Did you do it (comply) or stand up for your self and object knowing what punishment was coming.
  4. I actually got a call from them asking me if I wanted season tickets early in the year. I told them I only attend a couple games a year (since I work weekends and have to watch the kids on some weekends) so I declined....once the kids get a little older I will consider season tickets!! 1993 was the only year I attended all UND home games including the playoffs games too. (the NDSU game was the best game out of that season!!)
  5. They don't care about money, they don't care about tv...its all about losing to UND the risk is too great in their eyes. They want the Wagners and St. Francis of the FCS to come to Fargo where the game is over after the first quarter they don't want UND to come in and beat them 34-13 like in 1994.
  6. Bisonville has so many UND threads over there that sometimes you think they are board with NDSU sports that there is nothing to talk about but UND.
  7. First of all you are correct, and you are incorrect...let's break it down. UND game won't bring in more fans to the Fargodome...That is correct UND will be like SDSU and UNI in attendance. It will be maxed out. As for the Alerus Center UND's attendance has been very poor during transition but that will change because of the BSC. When you play 3 non DI teams and have no shot at playoffs plus a below average team (3-8 in 2010) your attendance will suffer. UND will max out if they hosted NDSU but that should be expected and it should be a plus for UND as its OUR home, it shouldn't be an advantage for NDSU. Is the UNI Dome an advantage for NDSU? No. Playing UND costs NDSU a chance at a FBS game....First that may be correct. You (and UND) has 3 OOC games to fill ideally you want 1 FBS and 2 at home, well UND is willing to have 2 on the road in 2015 (Wyoming, and NDSU) and have 1 OOC home game (ideally). Is NDSU scared to have 5 home games? 4 MVFC and 1 OOC game if they play at UND, and at FBS team in 2017. Are they that hurtful for money they can't go one year without the manditory 6 home games? This from fans that are ready to pack their bags for the FBS which will cost NDSU almost double their budget plus there is no new stadium in the works or even talked about. NDSU would be the next Idaho with the Kibbie Dome. How much do you think it will cost to get FBS teams to Fargo? If NDSU wins its a meaningless win. This is the most laughable statement on your whole post. Meaningless? We are a DI counter, a ranked team. Sorry we don't matchup with the bottom of the FCS like Lafayette, and St. Francis. We are tougher than them, we beat 2 ranked teams last year, so your SOS would be better, and it counts as a DI win which you do need to reach the playoffs. We are not Arkansas-Monticello or Moorhead State. We are a DI team. We have the same goals as you to get as many DI wins as possible to make the playoffs. You guys are the defending National Champions, we are co-champs of the Great West Football Conference, your recruiting is better than ours, you have made the playoffs in back to back years, you are ranked #1...and you and most Bison fans are worried that we may beat you. Wow!! Thanks for the compliment. I guess looking back at history of our "rival" proves there are some things that cannot be ignored. That no matter what level you get to there is that chance the little guy may beat you (1993!!). I guess GT has seen his basketball and volleyball teams fall to little ol' UND of the GWC this past season and he is a little worried what would happen if his #1 sport, the big money maker falls as well. Just my 2 cents.
  8. Just think a year ago this was all a dream now in 40 days.....its a reality!!!!!
  9. He seems like a good player, and I hope for the best for his dad.
  10. http://www.warroad.k12.mn.us/highschool
  11. Playing the REA even if they removed the "non-historical" logos are the same thing there is still a Warrior on the REA. I don't think the NCAA would sanction UND for it since it was a unit of monetary, however if UND retires the name UND should either have a new trophy or none at all.
  12. Its a buffalo nickel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_nickel That nickel doesn't perpetuate the Sioux nickame more than the state name "Dakota", the Indian head on road signs and the ND Highway patrol cars.
  13. What good is a nickname when there is no sports team to show off the logo and name. Are they going to bus students around the country and just walk around with Fighting Sioux gear? The name is recognized with sports, sports needs a conference you keep the name you may lose the conference affiliation and start losing football, basketball, volleyball, etc. Since UND can't fill the minimum required sports the hockey team goes away and there sits an empty arena on Columbia Road to match the empty dome on 42nd Street. Enrollment will decrease if no sports, money will slowly trickle in but far less than it would if we had sports. See the domino effect by voting NO on Measure 4. Sorry Dave we will never agree on this, but I have to say this last thing.....Vote YES on Measure 4 to save UND Athletics.
  14. Since the nickel is of historical value (Buffalo nickel) I see no violation. Its like playing for a giant quarter. There is nothing on the trophy that says Bison or Fighting Sioux just the words nickel trophy which it is just that a big giant nickel.
  15. A good way would have been going to Standing Rock and trying like hell to convince the tribal council to approve the name from 2005-2010. That failed. They voted against it and that was that. Most people supporting retiring the name like me are anti-PC. I hate it, it sucks, but I am not going to kill the University I love and support by going against the NCAA's rules. Would you give money to an athlete under the table even though you know its against the rules? Would you bribe a referee at a game even though its against the rules? Its the same thing...would you vote for something that is against the rules? For me....its NO! VOTE "YES" on Measure 4 to save UND Athletics.
  16. There are some who are alumns that went to school just for education who don't know anything about sports, and there are those who are die hard fans who read up on their favorite team, pay money to see them and support them through good and bad years. None of us are former NFL players (I am pretty sure on that), does that mean I can't bash my favorite team's (Dolphins) rival the New England Patriots? Or since I didn't play any professional sports I can't voice my opinion on a message board about my team or its opponents? Is that a Bison rule or what?
  17. I beat my chest like any fan of any sports team. You telling me Packer's fans don't beat their chests at Viking fans? But since they didn't play for Green Bay they are not allowed to smack talk, same with Viking Fans? I know all those fans at BVille aren't Bison Alumns but love to smack UND. Instead of acting like a two year old who got their toy taken away why not remember what board you are on, and take a look at the board you moderate.
  18. They are not. Which I don't understand how Warroad can still be the Warriors when they are NOT on a reservation.
  19. I thought NDSU already does that....I heard its for luck.
  20. They said the only other state to do this is Wisconsin...doesn't Wisconsin (as in Badgers) have a policy on not playing teams with NA nicknames. Funny how that works. I can see Portland, Portland State, Oregon, and Oregon State doing this as well.
  21. I thought it included college with Oregon Board of Education voting for this.
  22. Is that all?? Hell all you have to do is have that work done and send the bill to JohnboyND7.
  23. http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/361311/ I wonder if they (State of Oregon) would allow schools like Alcorn State or UND who are on nickname sanctions to play Oregon teams?
  24. Yes they don't play sports, and your point being?
