How many of those came in the second half?
-
You’ll definitely get the benefit of the doubt this year from me
-
Absolutely, and then UNI’s close loss wouldn’t look as impressive This is how college football polls work. This is exactly why everyone on this board cheered for Utah a few years back, it makes your loss look better.
-
Different circumstances with it being the last game of the year and having a whole season of Drake football as a larger sample size. If Drake takes a ranked Iowa state to triple overtime in week 1 last year, I guarantee you that Drake is ranked the following week in the FCS polls.
-
We’re too far down this Rabbit hole. Iowa State is a solid program in a P5 conference, not great, solid. UNI taking them to triple overtime is impressive to any objective observer and warrants a jump up in the polls. As others have said, polls are nearly meaningless until after 4-5 weeks, so you calling out ISU as a weak program is not only incorrect, but also completely unnecessary.
-
Which is true
-
Which is why I wasn’t making fun of Ames. You’re making fun of Ames as being farm country apparently. Both Fargo and Grand Forks are “farm country”, so you calling out Ames makes no sense from someone who cheers for a ND team. Point is, you thinking Iowa State isn’t a “real” FBS team is comical, when they’ve had much more success than your favorite team lately.
-
Dude, you cheer for a team in Grand Forks, ND. People in glass houses.
-
Iowa state has one of the best tailgate scenes in the country. You’re completely clueless
-
It’s comments like this that make me wonder if some people who comment here even watch college football. They’ve had a much better record against much tougher competition than UND the past few years, so should we ask if UND is really an FCS team? Make fun of them all you like, but Iowa State is a solid team as of late in the fourth or even third best college football conference in the country. They beat #3 Oklahoma a few years back. SMH.
-
I’ve never understood why this topic is such a sore spot on this board. They took a P5 team to overtime. I’m not sure what UND is currently ranked, but you can be certain that if they take NDSU into overtime this Saturday they’ll make a large jump up in the polls, rightfully so if you ask me.

What could possibly be taken away from yesterday’s game that made you think the D looked worse? By the time Butler had even a hint of success we were rotating backups in and all three levels. And even then, our backups and third and fourth stringers only gave up three points. Not saying they won’t be worse than last years D, but I didn’t see anything but positive from our D yesterday.
-
Interesting. I wonder what the circumstances of the game were. The typical arrangement is pay for play for FCS schools to travel to FBS schools. Wonder if Yale paid Army to travel to them.
-
I would be very surprised if that has ever happened. The only way I could see that happening is an FBS transition team playing at an FCS team that they had scheduled prior to their move up.
-
Careful now. If you're going to keep showering us with compliments, we may stick around awhile.

Offense inside defense outside
-
New head coach, new offensive and defensive coordinators. Strength coach is the same. New QB. Running back is mostly new though it’s been a lot of rotating guys always at this position. Receiver we lost our best guy. Offensive line has a couple returning, but NDSU seems to always reload here. Defense has a ton of new faces at all three levels.

And here the media has been telling us it’s just the millennials that need their safe spaces.

I’m sure we could look back on the posts here if we wanted to. I remember many UND fans saying the football team specifically wouldn’t be able to compete at the I-AA/FCS level. I also remember many UND fans saying UND’s transition to I-AA would go great because “if an above average DII team like NDSU can make it look easy, a great DII team like UND should have no problem”
-
Haha, nice one. im a little slow on the uptake today.
-
Not sure I’m following your meaning
-
Well I really look forward to seeing how UND takes advantage of NDSU’s unfortunate twist of fate on September 7th then. New QB, new coaching staff. NDSU is ripe for picking and should be a nice win for UND.
-
And NDSU contributed in no way to those teams having a poor performance that day. Team’s talent and performance don’t exist in a vacuum or on paper each Saturday. How they perform against a specific opponent speaks to that opponent just as much as it does the team. This Bison fan doesn’t believe for a second, no matter how many layers deep you go, that NDSU’s success is the result of luck. They have a winning formula that makes the other team play mistake free football to keep up with them. They also consistently have an FBS caliber O-line that surprises FBS schools who think they will just out muscle NDSU. And that’s exactly what you see when they line up against FBS teams.
-
To qualify for “just trying to get the Bison fans going” you’d have to say something you don’t actually believe. That isn’t the case here as many UND fans sincerely believe NDSU’s success against FBS schools is luck.

Isn’t it a little early to start making excuses for Oregon? How would you have any clue what kind of team they’ll put on the field over a year from now? As to the rest of your post...wow.
