UND has exceeded many peoples expectations to this point as far as W/L, I predicted a 2-3 record at this point for you guys. But, I would push back on your thought that only 3-4 teams would have a 4-1 or better record with your schedule. I think there are many FCS teams that if they played your exact schedule would be 4-1 right now. We’ll never know for sure I suppose, but that EWU loss is a rough one given how their season is playing out. I think many teams in the FCS right now win that one and are 4-1 with your schedule.

It’s the internet, it’s not like I have to drive t grand forks to post on the message board. Not really going out of my way to be here. I think you’ll find 99% of my posts are in Bison related topics.
-
Also, BS on the first point that people make critical comments about your coaching staff and nobody says anything. I’ve been around here long enough to know that isn’t remotely factual.
-
What you said and what bison 73 said were not the same thing. He acknowledged that not kneeling the ball is a decision that he personally wouldn’t make, but had no problem with the fake field goal. You took exception to both the fake field goal and the touchdown, while piling on to other posters who were calling it classless. I see those as different.
-
Yeah, really weird that a thread called Non-UND FCS thread, with posts talking trash about NDSU would attract NDSU fans.
-
Where is this notion coming from on this board that a game somehow is over before the clock hits 0:00? 1. Getting young players in a "real game" is what I mean by real snaps. You know, like, not a practice. 2. Going on the road and playing a traditional powerhouse is absolutely a big game for NDSU and getting young players experience early in the year so they are able to contribute in the playoffs has always been a priority for the NDSU coaching staff. So yeah, those snaps absolutely matter to develop our young players.

I agree with this. Being a Bison fan, obviously Entz will always get the benefit of the doubt with me, but I think it's important to consider that clock and game management is a relatively new responsibility for him. He's human, those types of decisions are made very quickly and it's easy to not get it perfect. Especially in the eyes of an opposing fan base that seems to want to make a mountain out of every mole hill when it comes to NDSU.

Why can't you just disagree with the necessity of a play call without having to label it "not classy".
-
I'm sure there's a lot of things you don't know about football based on your posts on this board. The protocol for getting backup players real time snaps in a big game on the road and building confidence for what appears to be another long playoff run. I'd say the coach did just fine, thanks for your concern.
-
I wouldn't say one way or the other. Would you say the defense was going to try to block the field goal attempt? If so, then NDSU shouldn't play that play like a normal football play? If I'm the Delaware coach and I found out somehow, maybe in a post game presser, that the other coach took pity on me and called off a play call to not hurt my feelings, I would be more pissed off at the patronizing approach than if he ran what the situation called for. You'd have to do something pretty egregious to get me to agree that it wasn't "sportsmanlike' in Division I athletics.

As is the case in the majority of fakes on special teams, it is a call that always has a green light if a certain defensive look is presented. You think a holder/kicker/punter is going to pass up an opportunity to run or pass the ball regardless of the game situation? No chance. The coach confirmed this in the post game press conference that it’s a choice on the field.

On a related note, how odd is it then that the 40 yard dash without the game equipment on is the gold standard for speed. Wouldn’t it make more sense for scouts to want to know how fast you are with your equipment on?
-
That’s a good point. I’ve also always wondered if it isn’t necessarily that the slower player is faster, but the faster player is slower with pads on. For some track athletes, their running style doesn’t lend itself to the extra weight of the helmet and pads.
-
Game speed is definitely a real thing. Depending on the defensive scheme you can get away with a slower guy that thinks quickly, knows his responsibilities like the back of his hand and is decisive. The challenge would become if the linebacker ever had to carry a TE vertically. At 4.8 or 4.9 a fast TE and a good coordinator would exploit that matchup. I watched Digger play, the fact that I was floored to hear he only ran a 4.8 speaks to how fast he was able to play the game.

To bring some actual numbers to the conversation since you can’t seem to see how wrong you are here. There are 130 FBS programs. I’ll quantify “nearly all” for you by saying top 10% is a fair definition of nearly all. So, name 13 FBS teams that had a better consecutive two QB situation than NDSU had in Wentz and Stick. Of course there are some, but not many. Here’s all the QBs that have been drafted. http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?type=position

Nothing tempered about being in the NFL for a decade if he’s able to do that.
-
I made a simple comment about our QB play which I didn’t think was controversial in the slightest, I made no inferences about what that meant in terms of NDSUs “powerhouse” status. You changed the goalpost not me. Youre arguing with yourself, not me.
-
You serious Clark? Duke, Daniel Jones. Memphis, Paxton Lynch.
-
This comment won’t age well. Stick has the smarts and the attitude to be a backup in the nfl for a decade.
-
He’s the one who moved them by saying western Kentucky isn’t a powerhouse. Not relevant at all to the original conversation of having great qb play for the past 6 years.
-
Why is having a conversation always someone seeking validation? Calm down. i made a comment, he called it ridiculous and was proven wrong. I dont think Western Kentucky had a guy get drafted second overall though.
-
So then after looking into and finding maybe five schools out of 130 that have had their last two QBs drafted, is it fair to say NDSU has had better QBs than nearly all of the FBS schools in the nation the last six years? My comment is mostly to the previous poster, since it seems like you are somewhat agreeing with my statement.
-
“Nearly every FBS school” you realize doesn’t mean ALL. The same Easton Stick that just beat out Cardale Jones in San Diego? Yeah, I’d take him over many P5 starters. Name the schools who have had their last two QBs drafted when you get a chance. I’ll wait.
-
Agreed, which is why until/if the structure of FBS changes, I wouldn’t advocate for a move up.
-
Name the schools that have had their last two QBs drafted. Have fun with that research, they are very few and far between.
