Ok, let's get realistic here. Obviously, if someone puts up 140 pts vs 7, they would most likely have a better chance of making the show... but that's not the case. We're looking at two players who have similar stats. If you don't think teams have more invested in a first round pick than a 3rd rounder, then you're crazy. They'll most likely give a 1st rounder a few extra chances to prove what he's got. Why? Marketing. Name all the 3rd rounders from the past 3 drafts without looking. Now name all the 1st rounders. Unless you spend your days memorizing the names of 3rd rounders, you'll name a lot more guys who went in the 1st. Nobody (i just scrolled through the convo, but if someone is saying this, they're pretty dumb) is saying that there is absolutely no chance irmen and potulny can make the show. But nobody is saying it's guaranteed either. College hockey is wierd, especially the WCHA. While we put out a lot of very highly skilled players, we also have points leaders who never make it in the NHL. Panzer, Senja, Goehring, Pohl, Westrum, Lundbohm. All of those guys dominated NCAA hockey, but look at how many NHL games they have combined: 34. And sejna has 27 of those. I wouldn't be surprised to see any of zajac, stafford, irmen and potulny make the show... but I wouldn't be surprised if only two of them made it either.

i remember seeing one of those in 2000. when asked best atmosphere and hardest place to play, every single person said the old ralph. how i long for the days of standing outside at 8am to get into a game. stand all game and scream my lungs off. those were the days of college hockey. fortunately, i was able to get a full year in that arena before moving into the palace.

they have to turn pro sometime... they can't play for another 20 years.

what we need is 3-4 UND alum who have 50-100 million dollars each. then setup an unofficial trust fund for after sioux players graduate. if you play UND hockey for four years and graduate from UND, you get 1 million. that would hopefully help keep a lot more people around for their senior seasons. alright, who has the money?

now, i don't want to take credit for predicting this or anything... but i will.

i like how the sioux game is the night game... yet bu is a host out east and they are stuck in the early game.

i'm pretty sure the forum cannot buy the herald because of fcc rules. the current relationship with wday/forum was grandfathered in... but recently the fcc passed a ruling saying a tv station and a newspaper in a town cannot be owned by the same company. there was brief talk about north dakota television (kvly, kx4, kmot and kfyr) buying the herald as a way to gain more viewers in the upper part of the valley... but fcc rules fobid it.

i hope so, and i have confidence they will... but this year it's like all but holy cross could win a game. that's pretty scary.

guys... our pwr is pretty much already set whether we win or lose, so this game is meaningless to us.

if sioux hold on to win, they'll be tied for 6th, with miami and cornell. sioux will be a 7 seed and looking at the seedings from a completely numbers point: umn, UND, cc, and holy cross. because cc and UND can't play, it looks like michigan or possibly bc will come to the ralph.

unfortunately, holy cross will be sent to whatever regional the gophers go to.. would have liked to see bemidji play the gophers at the ralph.
