  1. Fowler on the USA team really impressed me. Heck of a shot from the point on the PP, and played very well defensively. Notre Dame missed out on a great player there. Stepan seemed to play well too, I noticed him a lot more tonight than I did during the UW series.
  2. Three of our better players.
  3. Sweeney says Zajac had hernia surgery. Dr. Sweeney says Darcy will be back in a month.
  4. Kristo scores on the EN to close it out. 4-2 USA
  5. Trupp with another beauty of a goal. Backhand. 3-2 USA
  6. When they're the best 17-19 year old players in the nation...yes.
  7. Fienhage with a couple of good hits so far this game...
  8. 3-1 after a goal from Zucker. Deflected off of Hill's stick.
  9. Kreider with his 2nd goal of the game on the PP. Sweeney says that he has 2 goals all year for BC. 2-1 USA
  10. It's not like they were just informed prior to the game. They've known for awhile now.
  11. I won't really care if UND wins or loses this game, just no injuries. UND lost 3-0 the last time they played the WJC team in 04/05 (the year the WJC was at the REA). http://www.uscho.com/box/?date=20041219&am...nd&gender=m This is a group of the best U20 players in the nation, I wouldn't be surprised if they won. The main thing going in the Sioux's favor IMO is that the WJC team has had limited practice time together. The talent level is high enough to overcome that though.
  12. I would be surprised if Davidson doesn't play. Sounds like Hakstol wants to give everyone a chance to play. No Sioux recruits aside from current player Kristo on the team. All of the players are already playing college, are committed to a different school, or are from MJ and ineligible. Here's the preliminary roster...sounds like the final roster will be set on the 22nd. 13. For people that are picking Kristo for the Chicago Tourney weekend, you might want to rethink your choice. He'll be with the WJC team for those games.

    Jerseys

I was surprised the Kaip was so high...more than double the price of the Watkins & Miller. Thanks, I'll break in this jersey by wearing it to the Notre Dame tourney in a couple weeks. That is, if I get it by then.

    Jerseys

Sorry about that. I wondered if you were the HAMMER bidder that was also going for it. I was debating going for either the Miller or Watkins jersey...

    Jerseys

Nice! I just bought my 1st game-worn jersey. A black Nike Swift Brad Miller jersey from the 08/09 season. Now, I have to think of a way to explain that purchase to my wife.
  17. 1. The polls mean nothing. They aren't based on logic, so trying to find a logical explanation for them is impossible. 2. UND, despite having injuries to all of our senior leaders, still is unbeaten in OOC play. I'll take that any day, especially when those games were against a resurgent Merrimack team, a strong OSU, and #1 Miami. We'll see if they can keep it up against Niagara, Notre Dame/Colgate, and Cornell. I agree though, the Cornell series will be huge for PWR implications. Hopefully the Sioux can do well there...maybe Genoway will be back...
  18. Ah, Jim, and ruin all the fun? Hockey threads can only get better when they turn into political arguments. ;)
  19. I don't think he learned anything...he took 5 penalties I believe in the UND/UW series.
  20. I don't think LGM or RWD count, so I wouldn't worry about it.
  21. I would let them both play 30 minutes. Both of them will get a 2 week break after this game anyway.
  22. Not sure where else to put this, so in the Xmas thread it goes. Article in the Herald that visited the REA this past weekend, his 124th hockey rink: http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/arti...ublisher_ID/40/ Some more details from the Sioux blog:
  23. I would bet USA wins by 2 or more goals. I'm guessing Hakstol will be more than willing to rest quite a few dinged up players and give others a chance to dress/play. That could mean that VV sits in addition to Genoway/Zajac. And then with Kristo now being on the other team... The last time we played the US WJC team (when the tourney was at the Ralph), UND lost 3-0: http://www.uscho.com/box/?date=20041219&am...nd&gender=m Drew Stafford got 2 assists against his own team.
