O'Connor from BU has pretty much given UMD both of their goals. He is not playing well.
-
Wasn't it Chris Dilks that said Mankato and Tech were easily two of the best teams in hockey and that he'd be surprised if both weren't in the F4? Tech looked good last night but MSUM didn't look that good at all. Either way, both are done.
-
To offset that, maybe Hak has been playing some head games as well and we see Mark Mac out on the ice tomorrow.
-
Right on. Bring on QU and let's get to Boston.

I'm thinking that #1 MSUM doesn't make it out of their bracket. I think Blais leads UNO out of that region. I think both Maroon and Gold teams (BC & UMN) both lose in the 1st round against DU and UMD, but UMD will lose to BU for the F4 bid. If Miami can get past Prov without Coleman, and if Barber is ok (anyone heard anything?), I think Miami beats DU for the F4. Miami was very impressive this past weekend. UND, on paper, has the "easiest" bracket IMO. If the Sioux team from the a couple weekends ago shows up, they make it out of this region. If the Sioux team from the NCHC tourney shows up, they don't make it past QU. Tech and SCSU should be a decent game. I think Tech advances. SCSU didn't really impress me a ton this past weekend.

Wouldn't it be easy to predict then if it was expected?

Add Colton Hargrove from WMU to that list as well. He signed today...he was a junior.

Our PP baffles me as well. You see teams like Miami and SCSU and UMN have PP's that move the puck so well and enter the zone so easily. Is it just me, or is our PP zone entry so crazy predictable? Every time...dman behind the net, skates to our blue line, passes to either wing going up the boards...that wing is then met with 2 opposing players so he dumps the puck into the zone. From there, it's about a 50% shot at which team gets to the puck first. It's quite frustrating. To me, that was one of the best skills that Rocco possessed...put him on the PP and just let him skate it into the zone with speed. Worked way better than just dump and chase on the PP. I don't think it's a personnel issue...both Schmaltz's have skill and great passing, Pattyn is great to take away the goalie's eyes, Mattson is lethal from the point or dishing it to O'Donnell for the one-timer. They just need to work on that zone entry.

Getting the Gophers would assume that we win the first game...not a given after this weekend's debacle.

I think UMN is a lock for a NCAA title again this year as long as they continue to play B10 teams for the remainder of the season.
-
I would rather UND be the #1 seed than worry about whether UMN will be in tourney or not.

NORTH DAKOTA vs. ST. CLOUD STATE - Fri @ 4:08

Not saying SCSU didn't trap, just that you've said it a bunch. I'm at the Frozen Faceoff every year, be happy to meet up for some beverages. -
NCHC dman of the year just got absolutely walked on that Miami goal. That whole award was based on points. That's why they have the offensive dman award. He shouldn't have won both.

Must have been the trap then that did it...you've said it enough so that makes it so. -
Wisconsin did not look good at all. Crazy the horrible season that they just had. It's not often that you see a "big name" college like them go through a season like that. I bet Eaves is pretty relieved to have it over with...I know I would be!

Not too far off either way.

MVP — Joey LaLeggia, Denver Herb Brooks coach of the year — Dave Hakstol, North Dakota Forward of the year — Trevor Moore, Denver Defenseman of the year — LaLeggia, Denver Goalie of the year — Zane McIntyre, North Dakota Defensive forward of the year — Mark MacMillan, North Dakota Offensive defenseman of the year — LaLeggia, Denver Scholar-athlete of the year — Nick Mattson, North Dakota NCHC sportsmanship award — Nick Oliver, St. Cloud State Good haul for the UND folks today. Surprised that Oliver got the sportsmanship award, thought he was one of the whiniest opposing players that we saw this year. -
Penn St can't catch a long pass to save their lives. Every time it bounces off their stick or skate.

I was talking more just overall skill. Michigan is 21 and RMU is 22, but which would you rather UND face in the 1st round?
-
I seriously think we have more fans at our adult league hockey games. That's ridiculous.

After playing around with the CHN PWR predictor, I think that there is a strong likelihood of UMN making it into the NCAA's...even if they lose 2 games this weekend...which I really don't see them doing. I see them beating OSU/PSU winner and then losing the B10 champ game. Some of the scenarios I ran had them getting up to as high as #8! There needs to be quite a few upsets or teams around them in the PWR winning in order to drop them out. Also, the line between #1 and #2 overall with UND and MSUM is quite thin. Many of the scenarios I ran had UND losing the #1 overall even if both UND and MSUM only won one game this weekend. That's a pretty important line right there...the chance of facing either RMU or UMN/PC/Harvard/UML/Michigan in the first round is a pretty big jump.

What's this final faceoff thing? Is that like the Final Countdown? Is gfhockey a big Europe fan? Simple questions.
