Once it's over how long will you continue to wear the Sioux Logo
Big A HG replied to CMSioux's topic in UND Nickname
Right, that is one thing you have to consider is the actual nickname chosen. As bad as the university has handled the whole nickname issue, you have to trust that they'll put something out there that is a worthy replacement. -

Those people are few and far between though. Like I said, there are people that will never change, but over the course of time, people will change....and that time span is shorter than many think. -

No one will forget the Sioux nickname, but people will accept the new nickname much sooner than many people anticipate. There will be some that that totally ignore the new nickname, especially at first, but after a few years, it will be a non-subject. -

I'm sure all rights went directly to UND once his design was approved and he gave the go-ahead. -

Bring on the new stuff. Living in the past gets old sooner than one would think.....with the exception of music. -
I think LeBron gets more talk and hype than even Kobe. Kobe is for sure second, but I see and hear more about LeBron than anyone else from the NBA.

Smaby WAS the captain, but I couldn't tell you the A's....I can barely remember what I ate for lunch today.

I think most Blu-Ray players play standard DVD's. I never was on the market for one since my PS3 has one built in, but it also plays CD's, DVD's, and other data discs for photos or whatnot, which I believe is the norm. Your DVD collection would not be lost. I actually find Blu-Rays to be even better quality than HD cable, not to mention the audio aspects of both Blu-Ray and HD cable/satellite blow the snot out of regular DVD's or TV which have compressed audio and limited surround.

It doesn't mean you have to comment on it...

I'm gonna skip the junior class and say that Gregoire gets the last one.

Yeah...no big deal...you can use it if you want, just send me a PM next time. On a side note, the Siouxper Swings are a lot of fun and the money spent is well worth it. The coaches are very open and fun to golf with. Hak doesn't even charge extra for smiles, haha.

Here's a purely hypothetical question..... Everyone around here (with the exception of one) HATES the Gophers. Hates 'em with a passion. If Blaiser ever took a coaching job at UM, will he be greeted with cheers or jeers when he visits The Ralph for the first time on the opposing bench? I've never been a big Blais fan (don't dislike him, just don't get my undies in a bunch for him either), so I don't know what I'd do. Once a Gopher always a Gopher though...

SIOUX Recruits - 2008-09 Updates, Monitoring Their Junior League Play
Big A HG replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Maybe they know something we don't about the long run of the situation. We all want the team to win every single year, but think about it like this. You bring in Mattson now (theoretically giving him an extra year of playing time with us that he would have used in the USHL), and Knight next year. Knight might be more NCAA ready, so give Mattson a year to catch up and put them together in 2010-11 both as forces along with all our other good players coming in. -
Agreed....of all the sports, hockey and golf are the ones I struggle to watch without HD now. Call us spoiled I guess...

Back in the day when both the Bruins and the Celtics were awesome, the Bruins were the hottest ticket in town, not the C's. A lot has changed since then, but hockey had its day once.

Olsen is a Bulldog....big deal. There were a lot of other good players in college hockey when we won our titles that didn't wear Sioux sweaters. I heard from a pretty good source that Olsen actually was ready to public commit to UND (and already told the coaches he would), but something came up and Olsen was upset about something so changed his commitment. From what I understood, our coaches and Olsen had a disagreement. So, he was almost ours, but maybe it's a good reason he's not. (PS, sounds like a Chelios deal and look what happened during that timespan)

There was plenty of that too....my shins are still recovering many moons later.

Granted we didn't have a hard ass rubber puck, but there was a kid in my class who actually played at Mankato for a few years and spent a couple in the USHL as well. A lot of good MN and GF HS kids as well I got my fair share of welts.

When I was in floor hockey back in the day, I was a pretty stellar goalie if I do say so myself....and that was without pads.

A. The problem with no nickname isn't trying to convince people to support UND alone. The problem is that it isn't very marketable. It's limits UND's options BIG TIME when it comes to trying to sell athletic or team merchandise. If you are UND alone, that's all you have, one option. If you have UND and a nickname, that's two options, one being very expandable and much more marketable (that being the new nickname). As much as it will hurt to have a new nickname, it's really the only good option from UND's perspective. All that having no nickname will do is make people hang onto the Sioux nickname longer than we need to....and that will hurt marketing and merchandising even more. B. Sorry to disappoint, but UND isn't a "popular" school. Growing up in Wisconsin, I had no idea that UND existed nor that their nickname is the Sioux, and that's only two states away. It wasn't until I arrived in North Dakota the weekend I was to tour campus that I found out anything significant athletically about UND. That's not going to change by going D1, other than a few new schools outside the region that we may be exposed to that we weren't before. But, even those "fanbases" will be limited exposure.

Whoops, wrong forum, I'm moving this to the hockey forum....mods please delete.

Well, for an unnamed project, I created some older Sioux logos in a detailed manner. In the coming weeks, you'll see what the project was for. However, I was thinking of having some t-shirts made up with these logos. They'd have the logo/image in large on the front, with the possibility of adding name/number on the back. These are some very small versions of the artwork, and they are not trademarked or restricted to UND, so there shouldn't be any problem using them. Indian chief, Sammy Sioux, old Blackhawk-style logo (not Blackhawk tho), S-tomahawks If I did do this, it'd be on a small scale....maybe 20 of a particular style or two at the most. I was just curious to see if anyone else would be potentially interested and what ideas some of you may have.
