  1. For monetary reasons, there's no way that I can see us having no nickname. Selling merchandise with the new nickname will be economically substantial for UND, in my opinion. There are already products out there that just plainly say "North Dakota" or "U of North Dakota" or "UND" without the Sioux nickname, and I doubt you'd see a spike in those sales like you you would with merchanside donning the new nickname. As nice as it sounds just to be "North Dakota", I highly doubt it would happen. People might be upset about having a new nickname, but no matter what you do, there will be people that don't like whatever decisions are made. Eventually, these emotions will deteriorate and people will accept the new nickname eventually, and the sooner that new nickname is implemented, the sooner those things can happen.
  2. The current Ralph is big and beautiful as we all know, but Sioux hockey doesn't need it to survive. We've won 7 titles, none in the current building. Let 'em tear it down if it means keeping the name. I like the name more than the building. Yes, we have bragging rights with the arena, and it draws many good recruits. But the banners are what count. They don't give those for having the best home ice.
  3. Did she say it to his face or say it after he left?
  4. Wow, that makes 2 of us!
  5. Of course that's how you think
  6. Dang....and to think I always thought coaches and home ice advantages were useful.
  7. Well, being the mature adult that I am, I don't get hurt by "put-downs" on the internet....especially when I obviously state things just to get people riled up. I heard the guy in this picture likes the Gophers, the Sioux, and Ulf Samuelsson....but those types of people are a dime a dozen, so it really could be anybody.
  8. Either way, retaliation is so childish. Adults don't need to retaliate. I feel I am much more mature than that....
  9. Hindsight is 20/20
  10. Let's not forget the fact the Sioux are bound to run into a "hot" goalie virtually every game....
  11. I somewhat agree on the blacks. They just don't "shine" per-se like the other two in my eyes. Going with something completely different might be very cool as well, I'll keep tinkering.
  12. As promised....the blacks. This time with a potential "C" on it.
  13. Gophers are pansies ("What? That's not an argument?") I'm gonna go get my popcorn ready for this thread.
  14. In regards to adding black... There were some thoughts of adding some, but I had some reasonings behind how I designed them. 1) I wanted a fairly unique design to the jerseys, without being overdone. 2) I wanted to go back to the Sioux hockey roots of mostly just white and green. Until 1984 (so for almost 40 years), there was virtually no black on any jerseys. However, they still wore green pants and helmets. 3) It's almost impossible to avoid looking like another team. So, with my previous two reasonings, it's inevitble to have the same white/green color scheme as MSU. The jerseys are very much different than any MSU jersey though. You can argue that Boston U., Cornell, Miami, and Wisconsin all have very similar jerseys, so having merely the same color scheme as MSU is no big deal IMO. Glad you guys like them though.
  15. Here's my green away version. Was working on the black alternate version before my program crashed (first time it happened, so not sure why). I'll finish it later... Added the white ones again just for a side-by-side comparison.
  16. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so no offense taken if you disagree. I just think that everyone, no matter what age, should be able to use whatever language they decide. To say it's "pathetic" is wrong. I know as many people older than teenagers that use the term as teenagers themselves (whether they use pwn[ed], own[ed], whatever). It's all over TV and it's a part of today's culture. You don't have to use it, but to say it's wrong for someone else to because of their age is an uneducated statement. My opinion.
  17. What makes you better (or above) any other individual simply because of age? Honest question... You never used rhetoric or slang before, even at your wise, old age of 38?
  18. Great article.....too bad it has no influence on anything...
  19. Fair enough. I'm not discounting your statement, nor am proclaiming my following quote to be pure truth, but I like to think that "you're only as strong as your weakest link." A lot of times your role players define your destiny. Sometimes that's not the case either. Obviously you need a few great talents on a team to win a title, but you still need players to make those guys as good as they can be, and to make the team as good as it can be.
  20. The Spartans can beat anyone, you are right. However, I distinctly recall a curb stomping we gave them at the Ralph to kickoff the 2007-08 season as the previous meeting before the GLI.
  21. By providing a game-like work ethic every single practice, making his teammates better that way. (see 2008-09 team awards)
  22. I haven't followed your guys' argument much, but Walski can be considered a key member of our Frozen Four teams, despite him not being that great.
  23. Wings scored on a hard-to-swallow penalty on Toews.
  24. I actually looked at doing that, but thought the combo looked the nicest.
  25. GAME ON!
