  1. I understand that. It's just easier to say adidas when referencing "non-Nike." I work in an industry that deals with apparel companies and know how the business works. Companies combine or get bought out but names stay the same and deals can be worked out with logos and stuff, etc.
  2. I'll say 10-14--24. Not that I'm an expert, but you just don't come into the WCHA and tear it up unless you're a stud. I'm sure Cichy is good, but is he a Toews or Oshie type? No. I hate Duncan comparisons because there aren't many Duncans. For every small player like Duncan, there are probably 20-30 great players that just wouldn't cut it at this level.
  3. I think by Michigan back in the 50s, but would have to look it up to say for sure.
  4. Right. The previous poster mentioned them, which is why it wasn't listed. I do NOT want adidas jerseys. I wouldn't mind RBK jerseys. I'm guessing they'll just be Bauer jerseys. The only thing holding the Bauer thing back right now is that Bauer doesn't have the rights to each of the schools. Nike had the rights. This isn't hard to obtain, but that's part of the situation nonetheless.
  5. I believe as of last year our practice jerseys were already branded as Bauer (not Nike Bauer). Also, a few schools that don't wear Nike: -BSU (Gemini) -Mankato (Gemini) -Notre Dame (adidas) -UAA (unknown) -St. Cloud (unknown) -Mich. Tech (unknown) There are a lot more as well. My guess is it's about 50/50 or 60/40 in Nike's favor in amount of Nike-Bauer stuff out there.
  6. UAA and UAF in the same conference isn't going to happen because of travel costs for teams that have to go to Alaska twice in a season. UAA isn't going anywhere. Also, an 11 team conference CAN'T be done if you listen to Bruce McLeod.
  7. I'm not sure a lot of leaders is a good thing. I'm not saying this year's team struggled with that, but 2-3 guys are plenty to carry the "leadership role" on a team. Genoway seems like a natural leader especially as the perennial iron man winner since Porter left. If VV is still here he'll have leadership responsibilty as well. Next year's Junior class will also see an added role in this department. How the guys fit into their new roles is up to them, but I think we'll be ok.
  8. Very carefully.... photo url here
  9. I think Hockey East fans take the biggest piece of cake on that comment.
  10. I didn't look at all of them, but I believe that all of the teams that wear Nike's have replicas on sale for $55. I'm pretty sure it has to do with Nike dropping hockey and everything changing to Bauer.
  11. There are idiots of all fan bases. I don't even look at USCHO's forum anymore...waste of time. I wouldn't say a closet Miami "fan" (short for fanatic, which I am not), but I do quietly cheer for them. I like a lot of the college hockey schools that aren't big time schools outside of hockey (North Dakota, Maine, Miami, etc...). These types of schools are the glue that keeps college hockey what it is.
  12. I only picked one wrong game outside of the Midwest and that was the Mich/AF game. However, I was 0-3 in the Midwest regional.
  13. You know what, Miami may not be a perennial elite team, yet, but they are in the right direction. Their program was on the chopping blocks about ten years ago thanks to Title IX. Enrico Blasi has turned the program around. They got a new arena, and people have come out to support them. The last couple years they spent the majority of their time in the top 5 in the country. Boston College ALSO eliminated them the past three years before BC ultimately went on to beat us. They've had some serious talent. This year was the rebuilding year for them, but look what they managed to do....beat two very good WCHA teams for a spot in the big dance. The Miami die-hards are as passionate as anyone and their school deserves a lot of credit. Their arena may not be in the same league as the Ralph despite being very nice. So, who cares if they are proud of it....they should be considering where their program was not that long ago. More great teams in college hockey makes for better college hockey. I've been cheering for Miami and BSU from the start of the tournament, so too bad they have to play each other.
  14. Even though the Sioux lost a heartbreaker, it really was one exciting weekend of college hockey. If more people had a chance to watch it would have been a great oppurtunity to gain some fans. It was nice to see ESPN showing some regional games on ESPN2 instead of just Frozen Four games.
  15. Well at least it looks like it's decent quality...
  16. We pretty much dominated most of the game. We had a couple really bad breakdowns and a little bad luck and UNH capitalized on it. We looked a lot better than we had been recently and looked like we were ready to jump start our post season run again. I don't think the injury excuse is going to work in this case.
  17. So, what am I gonna win?
  18. I haven't seen the 07 game in awhile, but if you rewatch the 08 game, Chay was forcing way too much and out of position just like many games this year. Joe was all alone stopping 2 on 1's half the time. Chay wasn't a defenseman yet in 07 anyways, so they weren't even a D-pair yet. I'm not saying Joe is perfect, but it takes two to tango.
  19. Well.....we did win a conference title....but also failed in the playoffs. I'd like to see more green banners despite white banners being nice.
  20. Conference standings next year: 1) Denver 2) Minnesota 3) Wisconsin 4) North Dakota 5) Duluth 6) CC 7) Anchorage 8) Mankato 9) St. Cloud 10) Mich. Tech 6-10 were all hard to pick. All of them could shuffle within those positions. Tech was bad this year, but very injured. Someone has to be last, so I felt that's where they'd be. St. Cloud doesn't have the guns. UAA has shown improvements big time with Shyiak (sp?). CC is losing a ton, but they still should be good enough to finish ahead of the bottom feeders. Mankato is losing a few good players and will be tough for them to rebound from a promising season. We don't have anyone that clearly stands out as the best team for next year I don't think depending on who leaves and stays for Denver, but they look the most solid for sure. Minn and Wisc will reload as usual. Duluth will be good, but still not good enough to jump them into the top 3 or 4. North Dakota is just kinda there. Not pushing for a top spot realistically, but staying ahead of the lesser teams.
  21. I understand your point, but either way, we are not playing against BU today.
  22. I could sit here and explain why I picked Miami for a long time, but won't. However, I don't see how anyone could have picked AF or BSU. Those two had me fooled.
  23. I tried to figure that one out myself...my initial thought was an offside. I could have rewound it and looked but was too disappointed....doesn't matter if it was b/c we aren't moving on either way.
  24. Here was the auction list for this year, notice only former players and not many being sold compared to the last couple years? Series Day Jersey Color Year Jersey Color Year Wisconsin 10/31 Fri Radke White 07-08 Wisconsin 11/1 Sat Chorney White 07-08 Alaska-Anchorage 11/14 Fri Alaska-Anchorage 11/15 Sat Cornell 11/28 Fri Cornell 11/29 Sat Jordon Parise White 04-06 St. Cloud State 12/12 Fri St. Cloud State 12/13 Sat Forney Green 07-08 U.S. Under-18s 12/19 Fri Bemidji State 1/3 Sat Minnesota 1/9 Fri Chorney Black 07-08 Oshie White 07-08 Minnesota 1/10 Sat Oshie Black 07-08 J.P. 25. The NCAA and because it's a rule. Hence the reason there were about half the normal game worn jersey auctions at the Ralph this year.
