  1. My parents are unable to make the first game of the series tonight. Call 612-432-2721 if interested.
  2. http://www.crucialperception.com/timed.html The link above has a possible visual of the facility in their set of images.
  3. Herald Posting http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/141664/
  4. This Sunday evening, the UND Student Senate will have the unique opportunity of being addressed by Native Americans who both oppose and support the use of the Fighting Sioux moniker. Leigh Jeanotte, Director of American Indian services, will first present the opposition of the continued use of the logo and nickname. Tom Iron, Sam E. Dupris and Celeste Melander, members of the Standing Rock Sioux Nation who were in attendance at last week
  5. The only thing I would have to critique is the word "Reebok" above the SIOUX. Very plain and uncreative. To me they should have come up with a more presentable way of marking their brand on the jersey. Like possibly utilizing their logo instead. 6. Looking through the pictures of the Sioux/Red Raider game from the Tech Tech Athletic Department Facebook, I noticed the depictions of gun violence used in conjunction with their mascot. One tradition, refereed to as "Guns Up" is primarily used throughout the stadium. From website: The hand sign of Texas Tech is the "Guns Up" which was created in 1972 by a Texas Tech Graduate who was attending law school. The sign is made by extending the index finger outward while extending the thumb upward and tucking in the middle, little and fourth fingers to form a gun. The idea is that the Red Raiders will shoot down their opponents. The Guns Up sign is the widely recognized greeting of one Red Raider to another. It is also the sign of victory displayed by the crowd at every athletic event. Link I guess it is just another realm where I don't understand the NCAA's term of hostile/abusive. When it come to racial or ethnic origin mascots, then it
  7. Do have a link to the broadcast that is online? Having a trouble finding the audio.
  8. Freshmen Getting Started, the athletic department has a booth and they are explaining next year's process to the new students. Little frustrating that the new freshmen know the procedure before current students are given some sort of formal message.
  9. I know there must be some UND students out there on this site who are going to be as upset as I was when I found out that there is going to be no seniority given to the older students for next year's hockey tickets. Granted I have no clue how they used to do things back before I came to school here but when I was a freshmen only %10 of the season tickets were reserved for us. Now, this year's freshmen will have the same opportunity to get season tickets as I do as a senior. I waited 3 years to get top priority and now they are doing away with it. Makes me a little upset they chose to do this without gathering larger input form students. The other change that doesn't bother me as much is we will be camping out for tickets. The odd thing is that we will only be allowed to line up 5:00pm the night before they sell them at 8:00am the next morning. You have some students that will wait a whole week or even longer to guarantee their seat. I just wounder how it is going to be handled when the large mass of students fight for position at 5:00pm.
  10. If there has to be a so called nickname to support the agreement then why not just have the nickname be Nodak. To me a true nickname is a shortened version of a long handed name, just like Mike for Michael. So the long hand version we would be called the University of North Dakota then for short hand The Nodak. This way it keeps the UND tradition and brand alive from when we had the Sioux as the moniker and minimizes the transition mark that would be set.
  11. I was thinking that same thing when it started, but the clip they used had Herb say, "Tonight we are the best team in the world." So I saw it as a little jab at the gophers.
  12. Agreed, with all the controversy on the name or on even changing the name you need to keep the academics out of it. Have the use of the flame mark be related to academics and limit the use of it with athletics.
