Yeah, but how sweet would it be to see Toews take it to Kessel...

Nolan seems to be a player. On the HFBoards they are talking pretty highly of him. He is a defenseman, albeit a smaller one at the moment. He's 5'10", but could still grow considering Travis is like 6'2". Here's an article on him from the WinnipegFreePress: http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/ho...ewAllComments=y

In the playoffs, Hrkac has played in 12 games, tallying 1 goal and 8 assists. He leads the team in playoff assists and is 4th in total points. A few notable former WCHA'ers on the team roster whom Hrkac is outscoring are: Robbie Earle (WI), JP Testwuide (Den), Danny Irmen (MN), and Bryan Lundbohm (UND).

A shot is different than a scoring oppurtunity.

If only we got CBC in HD....I agree otherwise.

He's overdue when it comes to putting one in himself. I know he's been rumored to be sick or banged up a little, but he's looked very good the last couple games now. When he gets one, he'll get a bunch.
-
Yep, I was going to make the same point. Early in the year when the guys were banged up and Toews was playing in the WJC, Duncs was still there lighting it up. He never missed a game, never complained, never took any credit. Just lit the lamp and did his job. There's no question Toews and Oshie had a huge influence on Duncan's success, but Duncan still had to put the puck in when he got the oppurtunities, and he did just that. I would take another Duncan over anyone else I've seen in college hockey that I've seen, including Toews or Oshie, and that's no knock on them.

What does his pro career have to do with winning a Hobey Baker? It certainly doesn't make his curb stomping he's done on the Gophers the last few years any less significant, that's for sure.

No wonder why you're so misunderstood around here, what you say isn't what you are really thinking...

Elliott is Canadian, Miller is American. -
My comment was in no way related to Blood's performance, but as a freshman it's expected that he improves over the course of the year. But as a junior or senior, the strides that Zajac and Miller made were way above-average, in my opinion, compared to other players making the same transitions. Blood did greatly improve and he was counted on down the stretch, and in no way did he disappoint.
-
I agree with most of the awards. I think Most Improved should have gone to either Brad Miller or Darcy Zajac. Both stepped up their games big time. Darcy still didn't have huge numbers but made some great plays down the stretch, improved his speed drastically, and was stuck on a checking line (which did it's job great). Brad was no where near the same player he was the previous 3, and in a good way. I think we can all agree on that.

SIOUX Recruits - 2008-09 Updates, Monitoring Their Junior League Play

From the horses mouth, Malone is a 4 year guy. Doesn't mean things can't change, but that's his mindset from the get-go. -
I saw that Brad posted it a few days ago, so just had to make sure I didn't forget.

Just made it back from the Equipment sale. I didn't go too crazy, but it was hard not to with what the prices were at. I bought: -about 20 random patches/numbers (about a dozen frozen four patches, some UND125 patches, and 3's and 7's) -blue Bauer practice jersey -nike bauer sandals -Taylor Chorney stick This is what they had Practice jerseys --- $20 to $30 depending on condition (some very new, some more used) Nike Dri-Fit under shirts --- $20 (new) NEW Shoulder Pads by both RBK and Nike ---$10 (sounds like a steal, but I was dumb enough not to buy any) Used sticks --- $20 (Lots of Kozek among a few others) New and used socks --- $2 a pair Used Gloves ---- I want to say $10/pair, but not sure (maybe $5?) Used Helmets w/ cages --- $20 Assorted Patches (includes nameplates, large and small jersey numbers, Frozen Four, UND125) --- All were $1 each Breezers --- Used were $10 I think, new were $50 I think that's everything.... All the good stuff went pretty quick.

That's weird since Springfield is in the states.

UCLA for the WCHA anyone?

"After New York Giants' manager John McGraw told reporters that Philadelphia manufacturer Benjamin Shibe, who owned the controlling interest in the new team, had a "white elephant on his hands," Mack defiantly adopted the white elephant as the team mascot, and presented McGraw with a stuffed toy elephant at the start of the 1905 World Series. McGraw and Mack had known each other for years, and McGraw accepted it graciously. By 1909, the A's were wearing an elephant logo on their sweaters, and in 1918 it turned up on the regular uniform jersey for the first time. Over the years the elephant has appeared in several different colors. It is currently forest green. The A

Yep, Paul could have been the best 3rd liner at UND ever, and I reckon Matt would have been in a tough battle with Brian Lee his junior year for most comfortable position under the bus.

Funny? Fat? Fruity? I can't think of anything else that would go there...

Sexy Six? (Don't forget about the potential WCHA Sexy Six ads they could come up with) Six Pack and a Pound? (Thanks Taco John's ) Super Duper Six? (Super Duper > Super) Final Five? (Big "Ten" Style) Original Six? (completely original )
-
As long as UND continues this home-ice advantage momentum, we're going to win a lot of games as long as we win a decent amount on the road. Who knows, maybe there will be a surprise team this year that wins the MacNaughton....

Can you read? I didn't say he was a Toews or anything near that. If Rhett played for the Sioux, he'd be as hyped of a player as many that have been through here recently. Now, when I say that, some idiots think I mean I'm trying to call him a Toews, which I'm not. However, I don't think anyone on the team right now (do I have to underline that?) could make some of the plays Rhett does. VV is a more well-rounded player and can do a lot for you (so I'd take VV over him for those reasons), but for pure playmaking, Rhett is very talented. It's easy for some people to say he isn't as good because he plays for Denver, but I guess I don't feel that way.
-
I think if Rhett was a Sioux, we'd be calling him as one of the great ones. Maybe not Toews great, but he would be a first liner here for sure.
