  1. They have been blowing this out of proportion on purpose. They don't want to talk about the real story. They would rather talk about how bad UND is rather than the fact that the NCAA doesn't even know who NDSU is.
  2. Actually we are getting way off topic. The main topic of conversation should be just how funny this story is.
  3. If this situation were opposite and NDSU were in the Big Sky and UND was in the Summit what do you think the reaction would be out of Fargo. If UND was in the Summit and the Summit was starting to fall apart because ORU and probably Oakland were leaving and it was quickly becoming the old NCC, the Bison fans would be having a hayday on the websites makibng fun of UND. NDSU fans would be gloating about the impressive Big Sky. The MVFC is a fine football conference. Over the most recent years the Big Sky has been a better football conference but at the present they are very similar. The Big Sky for the other sports is a much better and more stable situation for other sports though.
  4. The Big Sky is by far the best overall conference situation for UND. I would much prefer the Big Sky over the Summit/MVFC combination. The Summit could be in big trouble anyway. The way things are going with the Summit in losing ORU and probably Oakland , it will have lost the most prestigious teams from their league. Nobody in Fargo would ever admit it but with what is happening with the Summit I think most people there would much prefer the Big Sky. Once again they will never admit it. Back a few years they wanted desperately to get in the Big Sky. It was their number 1 choice with no close 2nd. Even Jeff Kolpack said the other day that the administration at NDSU is very nervous about what is going on in the Summit.
  5. Continuing the comparison what was NDSU's schedule compared to ours going to be in the second year? What are we up against there?
  6. Right on. That is exactly why the rivalry would of stopped anyway. Great point.
  7. I guess we shouldn't schedule NDSU in Volleyball and Basketball since we are the better team right now. UND would just have too much to lose.
  8. Bison fans say winning a national title is more important. I agree. Don't they realize that you can win a national title and also beat your rival. It is posible to have the best of both worlds. The only complication is that maybe they are not sure they would beat their rival. Maybe that is the real snag.
  9. NDSU can't schedule UND every year because they can't afford to give up a home game every other year for financial reasons. Is it tue that every 4th year you can play 12 games. So it could be like giving up a home game every 3rd year. Now their paying Prairie View 250,000 to come to Fargo. Is it just me or is there something really hypocritical and phony about this whole situation? Many posters on here have explained how financially this game can happen and be profitable for everyone involved. They just don't get it in Fargo.
  10. Duting transition I can't imagine Roebuck would of turned down playing SDSU. It could be there is something else going on. Didn't SDSU just come out with a statement that they won't schedule any new games with UND until our Nickname issue is behind us. It is kind of a mute point anyway now.
  11. I also remember a couple years ago when NDSU was 3 and 8 and the Fargodome was vacant at halftime of most games. It does have its cycles.
  12. Actually what I would really like to see is UND be able to host a playoff game next year. It would be really neat if UND's opponent at the Alerus was NDSU. I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen. It would serve NDSU right the way they have delayed getting this game going for so mny years.
  13. Actually the main reason NDSU is afraid to play us every year in football correlates to the basketball game this year. They spent years bad mouthing how bad UND's basketball team was and then they came to Grand Forks and got it handed to them. After all the bad mouthing they have done about UND's football team they are deathly afraid they will get it handed to them too. They could not handle us beating their beloved football team. They have to many memories of how UND was beating up on them the last 10 years we played them. UND also holds a decided advantage over NDSU in the alltime series too.
  14. I agree with Johnboy on this. Until we actually prove ourselves in the Big Sky we have nothing to talk about. Also, until our quarterback to be proves it on the field in a real game we better temper our optimism. It still will be fun to see what happens.
  15. My mistake. I thought the 2 smaller designs were interlocking ND's.
  16. My first impression is that the field looks fine. I would have 2 comments though. It would be nice if it did say Big Sky on the turf but I am assuming it doesn't because of the tenative situation with the nickname. My other comment is it would look nicer if the center of the field did have something on it. The whole layout might have connections with the nickname controversy. I suppose if they added something to the center in the future it would look to busy . Any other opinions out there.
  17. It is sort of nice to get a men's basketball recruit to choose UND over NDSU. Maybe the fact that we beat NDSU this year helped land him. I can't wait for next season and the Big Sky.
  18. Just curious. Where did you hear we hgave 2 commitments?
  19. If Oakland, Youngstown, IUPUI and Oral Roberts all left their leagues even diehard Bison fans would be yearning for the Big Sky.
  20. You refer to SUU as a bottom feeder but they did sweep Western Illinois this year.. They also beat Oakland in your conference tourney. The big Sky should have 3 or 4 in the top 100 next year too. Weber State, Montana, maybe Suu and of course UND. Some other team from the Big Sky might step up too. UND did beat your Madness representative SDSU by 19. UND handled NDSU too. Just my opinion as your ideas are just opinions too.
  21. Oral Roberts won the Summit regular season title handily. To lose like that at home in the NIT doesn't say much for the strength of the Summit. Very disappointing finish for Oral Roberts.
  22. NDSU doesn't want to play UND every year because they would have to give up a home game. They said can't afford it. NDSU just filled their schedule for next year by agreeing with Prairie View to come to Fargo. Reports are they had to pay 200,000 or more to get the game. Something about this sounds funny. Whatever.
  23. Anybody know if there is any television on this game or a wwebcast?
  24. You can't put a price tag on the kind of exposure that game could mean. NDSU doesn't realize it. The media focus that game would have would be priceless. NDSU normally doesn't want to put big home contests on TV because it might hurt ticket sales. UND has always had a different attitude on that. Some day NDSU will wake up and smell the roses.
  25. NDSU more or less have said they don't need the UND game. Isn't NDSU still trying to fill their schedule for next year? Didn't NDSU scramble to fill their schedule last year too. NDSU has scrambled a lot of years to fill their schedule.
