How is the Big Sky football champion going to be determined since schools don't play everybody else?

Chicago State just beat IPFW out of the Summit League. IPFW also just beat the Bison. Chicago State has a brutal schedule on the road.

Whether a voter is for the nickname or not isn't going to matter. It is going to backfire on Carlson. Carlson's actions on this issue were all politically motivated. Voters can see through the smoke screen. His future in politics is going to be short lived.

Hopefully when Al Carlson runs for office again nobody will vote for him. Not one person. He is a real loser. He is a real phony and not a Sioux nickname lover as he says.

First NDSU brought their powerful volleyball team to Grand Forks. Then they brought their high high high powered Mens's basketball team to Grand Forks. They both were sent back to Fargo with their tails between their legs. You would think their fans would be off hiding but instead they are hanging around spouting off. Don't they ever learn.

How do UND and NDSU enrollments compare this Spring? Did they ever announce figures?

I wish we weren't playing Mines too. But there will be more people there than youi might think. Season opener. Interest in new quarterback. Interest in new team. Tailgating when the weather is nice. Rxcitement for being out of transition. Excitement for being in the Big Sky. Excitement for the first time we make the playoffs in FCS. When the game is over everyone will wish we had played a better opponent but will be happy the game is behind us. Everyone will be thrilled for the future and the absolutely tremendous games on our schedule and in particular for all the great home opponents we have the rest of the year. in some respects it won't be a bad game to give our quarterback and other first time starters a chance to get their feet wet. I just wish we could tee it up tomorrow. The bottom line is there will be a nice crowd there.

Mussman said Mollberg was the best area recruit and I have to agree with him. He was certainly the most coveted in the area. In North Dakota UND also signed the Players of the Year in 3A and 2A football. Good job.

The only thing I can come up with that is really different is the number of kids from Illinois and less kids from Minnesota.(Gophers are hitting their own state better now) If one of your coaches has connections to Illinois and is successful you go where you can get recruits. All that matters is whether you are getting good recruits.

This class is starting to look like one of the best classes ever. It could be the best ever as far as filling the needs we had. Very exciting.

In the article Coach mentions California. None of the verbals so far are from California. We must have one coming from California.

That just shows you how hard it is to get teams to ,come to North Dakota... NDSU has lots of of football money and they can't even get their home schedule filled.

What is the scoop on Mathewson? Was anybody else recruiting him. How good is he?

So far it looks like the 2 areas we haven't addressed are runningback and kicker. Does anyone know what is going on there.

With the signing of the TE Mathewson from Illinois , does this mean we would be backing off on the Arp kid from Forman?

The class is really taking shape. It is starting to look like it could be a very special class.

This games means a lot more to NDSU because everybody expects NDSU to win. NDSU simply does not want to lose to UND after all the demeaning remarks that have been made about the quality of UND's men's basketball team the last few years out of Fargo. It would be pretty embarassing for them to lose to UND . NDSU has circled this game since the start of this year.

The fact that this isn't the first time they are playing again makes a big difference. Maybe the fans in Fargo wanted this more than the Grand Forks fans do.

Back when NDSU was looking for a conference for all their sports, if they would of had a choice of Big Sky or Summit/MVFC. They would of taken the Big Sky in a heartbeat. They just never would admit it now. The Big Sky rejected them and that took care of it for them. They never had a choice.

With all this controversy with the Sioux suck chants by Bison players and fans it is just a reminder of how we need to get the nickname behind us. I have to admit it is quite interesting that Bison fans were actually chanting those anti UND chants immediately after the game on the field. Wow. That is called turning a positive into a negative in a hurry.

A buddy of mine was in Texas for the game and he said you wouldn't have believed the number of Bison fans who were wearing Sioux suck T-shirts at the game. . He said it was being chanted in the tailgaite area before the game and he heard the chant in the stadium to. The Bison/ Sioux rivalry is very much alive in Fargo. A person NEVER hears Bison chants at any UND game. UND fans have moved on but apparently Bison fans haven't.

Let's face it. Most recruits are hoping the very top schools will offer. Or every one wants a better offer if possible. We have a great schedule next year and the foundation of a very good football team. His comment sounds goofy but it doesn't mean he doesn't want to come here. He wouldn't have commited if he didn't want to be here. It also doesn't mean he isn't a good guy or will be very good for us. He could of used a better choice of words though. I am sure he wanted to go where he could play right away and also have a chance to win. It could be a great fit. I im sure our game in Fresno last year went a long way towards getting him.
