    UND v GVSU

Just heard the national anthem on the radio. They seem to play it earlier out there than we do. In any case, Sioux break the streak. UND 27-24.
  2. Good post. While Radke might not be the first option against some of the finesse teams that we play, he will be useful to have against Mankato and the like. He fills a role that the team needs and that is good enough for me.
  3. Ok so its like the playoff series last year then. It was alright. I actually think it has its advantages then because the students who are there are hardcore and they are all grouped together.
  4. Pretty sure it originally had to do with cuts in the budget. I thought they wanted to totally get rid of them but they reached a compromise or something. However, I heard discussion at a game and they are confident they will be back on before the seaend of the season.
  5. Would not surprise me. I don't know much about the Standing Rock Rez but I hear quite a bit out of Spirit Lake and from what I hear, they might as well have the mafia in charge out there.
  6. Does anyone know for sure how the seating will be this weekend in the student section? They didn't include them in the season pack and when I bought them, they have reserved seating on them. I also rememeber seeing that holiday pack advertised for the general public for the student section. So my question is, will the student who bought tickets be mixed in with the GP or will they have their own section? And if not, will the students obey the seating rule? Just trying to figure out if I need to or just want to wait outside on Sat.
  7. No smack intended but when I went down to USD for the game, I stopped at Brookings because I hadn't seen the campus or town. The first time I opened my door, a very foul stench hit me like a bag of bricks. And thats saying something for someone who grew up on a farm. As for the campus, my friends thought it looked like a bunch of army barracks. I don't think any reasonable player would choose SDSU over UND when the stakes are even.
  8. True. Where you are wrong is assuming FHG's team of choice is the Sioux.
  9. That was the second best thing he said all night after the cardboard crowd comment. He basically said we have good fan support and it is a tough or hostile place to play. Some people around here might disagree with him on that last part though.
  10. Posting scores of interest is not a big deal. Sometimes people will post scores that are of interest from IA football. Yesterday, there was some interest in a IAA game. Where the thread got off track is when a poster misunderstood a semi-sarcastic remark and started spouting off.
  11. Lets just go all Texas Tech on them. It seems to be working pretty good for them against Oklahoma.
  12. I know. We are slipping....
  13. Tonights AA team looks head and shoulders above last nights. Kinda like the CC team we saw a few weeks ago.
  14. Exactly what I was thinking. I think there are other goalies in the state that would be nearly as good if they had his D. That being said, I don't think they fit the bill.
  15. I just don't see it.
  16. What has changed since last year? Sure Chappell is a year older and we had a steady QB in this year instead of the rotation caused by injuries last year. The players aren't the reason for the change. I notice a difference in the play calling. This year we have went away from the bubble screen, a big favorite of years past. We run the ball way more than we did last year. We take less shots down the field. End arounds to Dressler are not as common. And we are not as conservative as in years past. This year we seem to be a standard run the ball down their throats and move the ball effectively down the field with medium gain passes. In previous years, it seemed like it was an all or nothing pass play or a high risk and reward screen. This year we are giving those players a chance to make a difference based on the play calling.
  17. Where are you getting this from?

    Playoffs

The pass D played pretty well yesterday. I realize SD wasn't dominating us on the ground so they didn't pass as much as they probably would have, but they still played well. Other than the one pass interference that they still caught for a big gain, they limited the big plays. We just need to work on identifying who is carrying the ball and wrapping them up.

    Playoffs

You have to beat the best to be the best. If we would play UNO and win, we still would have to go to GV a week later, in colder weather and with a more dinged up team. This way, we hopefully jump to a big lead, rest the star players, and go to GV a week earlier and end the streak. Then we can set up a NCC showdown in Omaha for the Northwest title.
  20. That would be cool if they did. One would think that Minny might have to take another look if their brothers in crime open up to UND. I would love to see them announce they reconsidered 2 weeks after announcing they wouldn't. Not that I care about playing them, but the whole thing is a joke.
  21. Or almost any team game, for that matter. The Goph fans were just complaining about the same thing. I think I see a pattern and its not the students.
  22. I see that now. Well if people want, they could scream for 60 mins. That would solve that problem. Crowd noise works in football because you can rest during your possession. Same thing to a limited extent in BBall. In hockey, because it is a flowing game, you would have to make noise just for the sake of making noise for 60 min. I watch a lot of European soccer, which has the same flowing game problem as hockey does. Solution: The crowd sings the whole time. And they make noise. Other than that, there really isn't a way to do it.
  23. Real fans don't get distracted. The ones that do are the ones that come there for something to do, the ones that show up at 7 for a 7:07 game, or the ones that come to chew tobacco. The closest we could come to getting that fantasy example would be to put the ones who truly appreciate the game in the lower bowl thus making sure nobody got distracted. The problem is how do you weed the bad apples out?
  24. Is it really that bad? Everyone's SS is compared to the fantasy one in everyones minds, the one who has all of the students standing and cheering for the whole game. That isn't realistic, though. The SS was pretty crazy on Friday but there were goals being scored and big hits being delivered to get the crowd worked up. On Sat, there wasn't inspired play by the players so what do the fans have to be worked up about? Combine that with the fact that making up cheers takes creativity, a thing that is lacking in most of the population. And does standing up really help the team? I mean, I love to stand the whole game at the Alerus and when I have upper bowl. But honestly, I don't mind sitting during play in the lower if it means letting others see. Bottom line, our fans get after the refs, celebrate goals, and taunt the other team. They may not start "Lets go Sioux" chants every minute, but those chants add nothing. Every school complains about this and our's is no different. Now if the band would limit themselves to 9 Sioux Yeah Yeahs a game......
  25. I am driving down on Sat with 3 others. Lets get a win in the last NCC game.
