    UND or SIU

As for now, I would give a slight edge to SIU just because they are in the Gateway and have an autobid. They also don't have hockey running the show although basketball is pretty big there as well. I think if we get into a decent conference after our transition ends, we will be heads and shoulders above but thats just my opinion. I only see Dale at SIU for a couple of years or until he gets offered a 1A job. They are just a stepping stone.
  2. I would agree with you on that. The western teams need to improve. I have a feeling they might get a first round win at state this year though.
  3. I did not see the games on Fri, but by the number os shots from RR, I would say they did play better, to my surprise looking at BJ on Sat. Even GFC played a good 2 periods on Fri. Maybe RR had a bad game on Sat or BJ played great but the fact was the Minn game was double the speed. Is every game like that? I doubt it and the scores on Fri back that up. However, I believe Minn teams are more consistent with their play. Regardless, it was comparing a UND-CC game to a Tech-UW game. As for the shoulda, woulda, coulda, I am a believer that if you control the game, good things will happen. Roseau had the best scoring opportunities and the bulk of them. Eventually they converted the winner but they alone had the opportunity to extend the margin if the chips would have fell their way. BJ converted when they had the chance while Roseau left some out there.
  4. One thing I noticed about tonight's games was the speed they were played at. The ND game was played at a very slow pace, and I was not impressed with either GFC or RR. Too many weak shots and poor passes. The Minn game was played at a speed double of what the other game was played at. Much crisper passes, better checking, and better scoring opportunities. I guess it confirms what many say about the difference between the two states. Great goal to end the game for Roseau though they should have won it earlier with the numerous posts they hit and the botched penalty shot.
  5. Even Wooger and Co thought FInley should not have gotten one.
  6. I guess I missed the memo that said the gophers outhit us during the weekend. On Fri, everywhere I looked there was a gopher player on the ice. I realize that Finley had much to do with this, but I felt we outhit them on Fri. Sat might have been a different story, but I believe they outplayed us but didn't outhit us. The only one looking to do any hitting was the young version of Lucia.
  7. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Wearing the right color only makes you part of a gimmick, one that has no bearing on the game. Now, wearing a jersey doesn't do anything either but I think it shows a level of commitment that other sports don't have.
  8. They are always good for some laughs. I don't see how people get annoyed because even when they are being homers (like after JPL's kick), you have to laugh. Frank constantly saying he wasn't drunk and Woog comparing Finley to his Christmas tree was great.
  9. Even if shirts were handed out, true hockey fans are going to wear a jersey anyday. I was glad to see numerous students wear black jerseys instead of some random white or green shirt. I like the whole white/green out idea, but many people only have 1 or 2 jerseys and chances are 1 of them is black. In my opinion, the green was 100 times better looking than the white.
  10. The thing here is that he announces the Holy Cross score all of the time. A lot of Sioux fans will always be Holy Cross fans after that game and want to see them do good. If they would have been playing, people still would have complained when he announced the score but it always is done. The only difference is that he announced they were off. A slight poke at them. My O my.
  11. Me too. Too bad one team played nothing resembling it for 56 minutes last night.
  12. There was a F-You Shep chant after the goal that didn't count on Fri night. And a gopher made an apperance on the ice at tonight's game.
  13. No, never....
  14. I agree that no parent would want their kids to hear that, but good parenting will win anyday. If you have taught your kid not to say those words, all you have to do at the game is remind them not to use that language. Heck, even add in a story about how the students will get in trouble or something and it should be enough. Parents can only teach their kids what to do in situations, not prevent them from being in those situations. As for the chants, things have gotten better over the years. The only series the students do this is this one. If it is shrugged off, there shouldn't be any trouble for the rest of the year. However, I can see problems ahead if this is blown up into a big situation.
  15. There is a difference between the 2. TBS and WGN are local stations in those cities, thus making it an obvious choice to broadcast only home team games. Or it was that way until TBS lost their minds. The regional FSN's are for regional coverage. I don't really think they should have a home team in sports with other teams competing in the same region but I really don't care.
  16. Hmmm, somebody seems to have deleted all of their posts in this thread.
  17. I think her point is that you bought the tickets from someone (for what I assume to be under the amount you are selling them for) and are now selling them for profit. Not cool.

    UND v GVSU

True and thats exactly what I wanted to do. It would have been something to consider.

I have to disagree with you on this. While I don't think the coaches should get blamed, questioning the Winona decision is acceptable. I didn't want to play Chappell at all in the Winona game unless we got in trouble because I didn't want to see him get hurt. The bottom line is that there are sometimes that you need to look at things game by game (like the regular season) but sometimes you have to look at the big picture. Does it really matter if we lose to Winona by risking not playing Chappell? While it might look embarrassing, the end result is the same. I will concede the point that we at least had a chance to beat GV by playing him in the Winona game, but I still think we could have beat them without him. Of course this would be a moot point if we would have capitalized on our chances yesterday and in the UNO game.

Good post. While it is said that great teams win on the road, we def play better at home. Those losses to Omaha made our season's a lot harder than they needed to be. If we win those game, we get homefield and chances are we beat GV at home at least once. Too bad we never got a chance. But I def agree with you about the top 10 thing. I think we will fit in nicely with our new competition.

As could CWU, and the other team that GV would have to beat to win the title. Moral victories aint worth a dime. Let someone else have a shot at the title. I am now adopting UNA as my go to team.

I would 2 if it didn't hinder our playoff chances. That being said, I would gladly give up a share of a title for a chance to get the real prize.

Not really. All we would have got was a share of the NCC championship. If we would have did our job this week, we would have a home game to get to the semis. CW did us a favor but we couldn't use it.
  24. The only good thing if he does have an injury is that we have enough capable players that can fill his spot until he gets fully healthy. No sense rushing him back.

Not just sloppy but horrendous. GV can't punt the ball, we got one blocked, missed XP's.... Yikes!
