  1. Saturday, March 9, 2013 Minnesota 5, Bemidji State 1 Attendance: 4,415 (4,373 capacity)
  2. The CC team that has gone 36-35-7 the past two years (2-13-3 currently) and were bounced in two games at home by Michigan Tech last year has blue chip talent every bit as good as anyone in the country? The fans pulled the 'A' off Blood's jersey?
  3. Only on pace for 45 shots on goal...well below average.
  4. Well played. Unfortunately, anyone with cable in the metro area (and the vast majority of the state) has Fox Sports North Plus which you know of course. You think the TWolves and Wild would agree to have some of their games aired on a channel no one gets? http://www.foxsportsnorth.com/channel-finder/plus-channel Solid effort though.
  5. Maybe travel costs for Miami and Western? http://www.sent-trib...hockey-10-30-13 With Western Michigan already having one of the worst football programs in the land, does it make financial sense to fly to Denver and Colorado Springs and Omaha and Grand Forks rather than bus to Michigan Tech or Northern Michigan or Bowling Green (less than 3 hours). Mankato made more sense.
  6. Photos 3 and 12....empty seats? http://www.gopherspo...w.gal?id=149114
  7. He said the series needed a break (four year hiatus - check), the teams will continue to play (one home and home series scheduled - check) and didn't need to be played every year (nothing scheduled past this home and home when Lucia will likely be gone - check), yet he changed the way he sees something?
  8. If you are referring to the game in grand forks she sat out Friday due to injury and played on Saturday...still had three points. Then in Minneapolis had six goals and four assists in the two games. The highest assist total in the nation since 2005 is not due to her teammates putting in rebounds.
  9. Imagine if the nation's assist leader passed more.
  10. In 2000, Don Lucia and the Gophers traveled to Bemidji to play one game against the Beavers in their own rink....repeat...the Gophers traveled to Bemidji to play in a rink that held 2,300 people. At the time with BSU just out of D2, that would be like the Yankees playing a game in Toledo against the Mudhens. Bob Peters, Bemidji's legendary coach in the Pioneer Press: "We feel very fortunate to have the Gophers step in to help us with our transition to Division I. Don Lucia has picked up where John Mariucci left off in promoting college hockey in the state. From a fan-interest standpoint, it's colossal that these teams are playing us. Our season tickets and individual-game ticket sales have surpassed last season. And playing these teams has had a profound effect on our recruiting. We're on schedule to grow and develop Division I hockey in Bemidji." Later in the 2000-01 season, Bemidji played at Mariucci Arena. Bemidji played two more games at Mariucci the following season and another series in 2003-04. The U played St. Cloud State in Eveleth the first year the Huskies were a Division I independent. Minnesota played Mankato four times during its three year Division I independent phase. Don Lucia's CC team played a home and home with Mankato during the same period.
  11. In those five years, the referees from those games are still active in the WCHA and thus, could be at Mariucci Arena this weekend. If you go back six years, you have Jon Campion who has been retired since 2011.
  12. If by tradition you mean the Sioux holding a 34-30 edge in power play opportunities since 2008 at Mariucci Arena, then yes, twice as many. UND: 1-34 UM: 3-30
  13. Nov. 23-24, 2012 - Minnesota @ Vermont Nov. 25-26, 2011 - Minnesota @ Michigan State Prior to that the Gophers have played non-conference road games at Bemidji State, New Hampshire, Boston U, Maine, Nebraska Omaha, a tourney in Alaska, plus Michigan/Michigan State every other year. But yeah, other than that.....
  14. It will always be Vanek 1 (plus WCHA Rookie of the Year/Frozen Four MOP), Parise 0 so no Gopher fan will have a problem cheering for Zach in a Wild uniform. Vanek: 7g, 4a, 11 points and 6-1 in NCAA Tourney Parise: 1g, 1a, 3 points and 1-2 in NCAA Tourney P.S. Giving another free agent the exact same contract means they are not putting all their faith in one player.
  15. That's so weird. I was going to post a photo of Doug Woog and Dave Hakstol.
  16. And if it was the other way around, you'd agree.
  17. When does the WCHA conspiracy begin?
  18. 15 teams lost in the NCAA Tournament. I would bet anything and everything that members of each of those 15 teams were drunk off their a** by the following day or one hour after their flights landed. From captains' practice in September and the next six plus months they've lived hockey. In a week or two, they'll be back in the weight room preparing for 08-09 but God forbid they decide to drink the day after the season ends. I know you feel they "owe" you something, Mikey...with all the time and energy you've devoted to watching college kids play a game so I'm sorry they couldn't live up to your standards.
  19. A Sioux fan complaining about officiating??? What?? Oh wait, it's 15 below in Grand Forks, hell has officially frozen over.
  20. Did the WCHA officials hold Anchorage to 12 shots on goal in the third game last year? Oh well, you wouldn't be a Sioux fan if there weren't referee conspiracies involved.
  21. Actually North Dakota only won two of the "big ones" during Woog's tenure. He saves his intense envy for three-time champs Lake Superior State. Don't get him started!! He'd never play bubble hockey with Jeff Jackson.
  22. I know it's early, but when's the last time a college hockey team finished with just one loss?
  23. How are they related? The University stands up for the Sioux tribes in not scheduling teams using them as cartoon mascots while at the same time forming a partnership with the Sioux tribes for $5 million in endowed scholarships. Sounds like the U is standing up for the Sioux tribes in both regards.
