I thought when they put together the committee to "enhance the game day experience" a few years ago they did send members to other schools - what we have now is what they came up with from that research. Not saying they failed because it's up to the students and fans to make the game day atmosphere. No committee could create what SU has and what has been shared ad nauseam is that football is #1 at SU. The UND Athletic Department has to split resources and staff between football and hockey in the fall - plus you have The Ralph keeping UND hockey #1 in the public's eyes.

Hmm based on their record how would they know what "clicking" looks like, and what if they have been "clicking"?

Did I read that as 3 non conference home games - they should rent out the Betty to the circus, monster truck rallies, rodeos.

Do students pay for all sports tickets or just hockey?

Yikes - what they do for students now is incredible compared for the return they get. Free bus rides, free tailgating, free tickets, prize giveaways for attending (numerous sports), scholarship prizes - students got none of that a couple of decades ago and were much more a part of the game atmosphere (of course there were no smart phones to bury our noses in at every break in the games back then).

Not saying it is EW this year but historically a B.S. team falls from grace the year following - I was thinking it's going to be Davis.

That could be said about all redshirts - could get hurt, could grad transfer their senior year? If Kett is ready play him, but I'd rather keep Schuster to four games and trade his freshman year for a 5th year senior year.

Scratching my head as everything I read coming up to this game was how improved SH was, how they brought in 23 new players (not freshmen), how they improved their lines - somebody drank the kool-aid because they got ranked right out of the chute. Then UND beats them again and all of our sudden they are a bad team and unlike other teams who make jumps into the top 25 after wins (and sometimes loses) UND still sits outside the top 25. Then we have to go on the road to EW where the odds are against us and almost every other FCS team - and if we lose all we will hear is "See UND isn't as good as their fans think." The poll system is whack and many of those "FCS experts" who make a living on the Internet are lazy about their research outside their region.

I like to think we have a chance but history shows that we've been destroyed by teams that have their best players on the sidelines.

Here police officers were pulling students off student buses after games and checking them for alcohol, so what was the unintended consequence of that - students started driving themselves to games and driving home buzzed or worse.

Can someone give me a ballpark figure on what tickets might cost, based on Vegas and New York?

Based on the first three werks UND deserves to be in top 25, even if it only lasts a few weeks. BS on teams getting ranked for quality losses and weak schedule wins.

Times have changed - except for the band, (which plays in Heaven there is no beer way too often), students just aren't into it the way they used to be. A random "Let's Go Sioux" or Sioux Yah Yah every once in awhile is the new normal. Also everything that used to make it fun is not allowed or is usurped by the orchestrated music and announcements. Can you imagine them letting someone enter with a long pole and a rubber chicken attached to the end and hovering it over the visiting goalie during warm-up - they did in the 70s. They probably wouldn't even let someone wear a hard hat with a red revolving light on it into the building (again the 70s), but I digress.

But I wouldn't be able to carry a copy in my pocket (unless they minted copies - now there's a fundraising idea).

You really have to be living under a barn to think that UND would be in favor of bringing back the Nickle Trophy the way it is - and the only reason Moo U would want to do it is because they believe it would cause UND public relations issues. I don't believe revising the nickle with a new UND icon on its side is valid because the coin was a reflection of an actual nickle that was minted by the US and it loses its uniqueness if it's just a fabricated coin. One thing we have learned is that if/when something is created there will be vocal outrage from someone about it.

At the end of their DII domination it was other schools that caught up to su (the change in the # of scholarships allowed helped). Hockey has always been the top sport but it didn't stop UND from dominating SU in the 90s and winning a national championship. UND has proven it can get blue chippers.

The word is they got a new French fry maker that is more versatile. Always assume the best.

I think we need to set up committees at both schools and make sure everyone from all different interest groups is represented, they both receive a clear set of guidelines on what the trophy should and should not represent. Then we hire an expensive consulting firm from the east coast to moderate both groups and bring back a recommendation. Then we slap a hawk and bison on a giant nickle and pay the man.

We are right where the projections said we would be 1-1 and this game has always been the most important win in the schedule as far as making the playoffs. We have the talent to win this game.
