  1. At least one went to camp at SU, they thought he had enough talent to invest some time and money in him. Perhaps he committed before they could make their offer?
  2. And based on most recent years - this team has nowhere to go but up.
  3. Most are in for a surprise, as a majority who have entered the portal have discovered. However, as has been shared, the team is better off for the future with some of them gone.
  4. At that level it could include plane tickets for his family for games. Really hope he has his academics on track for his future.
  5. In that the MVFC has its share of Haves and Have Nots, it could not be difficult to flip last year and get back into the playoffs. Even with the challenges of the defense several of the games were winnable. Very predictable that bandwagon fans will be back quickly.
  6. I am conceding that the silence from the team's current players in the portal means none of them are changing their minds?
  7. I'm fine with this hire, however can someone explain the benefit of going through the expense and administrative tasks of doing an national search when you have the next coach on staff - were they hoping someone better would apply?
  8. Not as painful when a player transfers for academic goals or it's a freshman who wants more playing time. What UND fans are worried about would be scorched earth.
  9. Athletes stay after entering the portal all the time.
  10. Kelly Green > John Deere green Flag Ship U > Moo U
  11. Dad of player Is quoted as saying they filed the paperwork before the coaching change was announced. Having eight players leave was probably the reason Mal stepped down. Hoping there is a chance some change their mind. Several on that list have played their last D1 basketball game.
  12. Every great coach at the top started in the lower classifications, seem to remember Mayville had a pretty good men's basketball coach that is now in the big leagues. There has been much discussion about grabbing an up and comer - Hutton could be the one.
  13. Nothing wrong with that recruiting radius for UND.
  14. Helps to keep players when you can pitch the Summit League home court advance and make the tournament just about every year.
  15. Don't you think Hutton will be having meetings with each of these players this week? It's not difficult to change your mind about the portal.
  16. Even if next few seasons are rebuilding from the ground up we would have been looking at the same records if they would have stayed status quo - at least there is path forward. I wonder about the future of most mid major basketball teams for support. If you watch the road games their gyms are empty, when the older generation fans are gone there is no one to replace them. Think I read that every player on SDSUs women's team is from within 500 miles of Brookings - just sayin.
  17. Gottta think that money was on the table before the coaching change was announced.
  18. Only one or two that would be real losses.
  19. Mallory Bernhard to step down, Dennis Hutter named next head coach - University of North Dakota Athletics
  20. we can assume he got his check though.
  21. IMO if any of the other sports had the resources and funding of hockey they would be much more successful.
  22. Showing my age here but history shows that the media (and especially the GF Herald) thought hiring Gino was an epic mistake. Look it up.
  23. Hope springs eternal. Football has gone from being the bane of the athletic department to the one with the highest hopes for the future.
  24. Where else should this be discussed if not on a fan site?
  25. Well at least we know Sather was planning on not having him next year. What did Trey develop? It was not his defense or his physique.
