  1. Love the reference to getting chills when the home crowd shouts "Sioux" at the end of the national anthem - wonder how long that tradition will hold with the changing of the name? It would be nice to see similar effort put into regular programs like this for the football and basketball teams - it helps create a bond between the teams and the fans and would probably help attendance.
  2. We once had a fantasy league where you earned points for getting posted quoted on Bison-swille - perhaps we can start a new league based on earning points in this thread.
  3. Sitting behind Bi-zon fans at the 2003 game - listening to them crow about how no UND player would see the field on their team - watching their crushed faces after Digger's tackle.
  4. I agree that is not what I would consider a bright spot - however there are things to enjoy about the season - if you are willing to look for them.
  5. Sarcasm? If not stop looking for bright spots to the season....negative postings only are welcome here...stick to the topic...you're either like minded here or you don't have a clue. There's no room for optimism here - you're gonna get trashed.
  6. Bump - hoping to make it a Sioux-per Saturday with my daughter - BBall then hockey with a grinder inbetween.
  7. I just meant I wasn't willing to give up any points this weekend to help you get there .
  8. It would be great to have the huskies at the Final Five - (but not at the expense of the Sioux). SCSU fans can help rowdy it up. St. Cloud has done well in GF and UND knows it.
  9. Hoopster - I'm on your side as far as looking for positives - it's a game played by 18-21 year old student athletes - there are bright spots in every season - thanks for seeing them.
  10. Looking for two for Saturday night against St. Cloud. Thanks
  11. We have a name and you'll be seeing it plenty from your couch as you watch the Frozen Four. Really you come here to talk hockey and you start out with smack - that's not a very good reflection on your maturity or intelligence.
  12. Yah they should cancel the trip.
  13. Looking at the box score stats - how do they lose this one by 10? We out rebounded them, shot percentages were close, turnovers low, free throws - still an issue at 66%.
  14. Just a reminder, hidden deep within the NCAA comments during the peak of the discussion was the comment that the NCAA needed the two "Tribal Councils" to approve the nickname. The NCAA basically alluded that the SL vote that had been taken did not meet their criteria of a "Tribal Council" vote - they didn't have to play that card because the SR never voted. The cards were stacked against the name in so many ways.
  15. Chris Farley U at its best - as they say "you can't make it up".
  16. Gotta agree here - not living in Grand Forks it's amazing how much Sioux gear you see - and not just atgames but all over town - it should not be taken as people being anti-supportive of UND - it's a cool name and a cool logo - it's not going anywhere soon - people have closets full of the stuff and there is still a market for Sioux clothing - logo or not - trust me on that one.
  17. Well first of all it's a smaller sample size, second of all the general student population doesn't have assigned tutors and designated study time - all specifically designed to make sure they make the grade. Not complaining because we've had great athletes in the past that even these perks didn't help. Yes those that are "making progress toward a degree" are student-athletes, those that are just attending school to play aren't - they often end up as signature gatherers. .
  18. If all they do is clarify the intent for the future then the cheaters get by and those that followed the rules get screwed. Just another example of "integrity" in action - those that follow the rules and the intent of the rules have it - the others don't.
  19. http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/in-the-past-year-15-ndsu-football-players-arrested-and-convicted-for-variety-of-crimes/ Must be time for an update on this oldie but goodie.
  20. Come on it was Coach's fault we missed 50% of our free throws, coaches fault we were out of position on defense.
  21. I've never been a coach but I would ask that you share specific times when you are confident a coaching decision won a game - but guess what - whatever example you give can not specifically be credited to just coaching - the players still have to have the talent, savvy and hustle to make the plays - doesn't matter what decision the coach makes the players have to make the plays.
  22. I didn't see a lot of the game but I caught DeRoen's fifth foul and thought it was a waste - away from the ball, shoving somebody near the basket - made him unavailable for the last few minutes of the game. Just not quite good enough down the stretch ...yet.
  23. Do you think the move away from doubleheaders has had any impact - not that they had any choice and they will never go back to that. But it used to be you got two games for the price of one. I think some of the "on the fence" fans just don't want to go to basketball games that often and also tend to choose games to attend (men's or women's) depending on the opponent.
  24. This is so off topic now it's just another Mussman bashing thread (and we all know who's going to be next to chime in) But...If you expect results at DI then you need to find the money to fund DI coaches and resources. UND athletics made the decision to move up (with much pressure from alumni) and with that comes the responsibility to fund the resources to make it successful. Mussman accepted the role of being a transition coach, whether he knew it or not UND decided to go on a bare bones budget for football during the transition - perhaps because they knew from the history of other schools that attendance (and thus income), and recruiting would suffer. All the more reason to respect the kids who did choose UND during the transition (in all sports). So now for some Mussman's legacy went from being one of the coordinator's of the national championship team to a failed head coach. Not saying he didn't have issues just saying that the transitional football coach position at UND was a no-win situation.
  25. Just fact checking - I believe the Feeney family has a long history with SU and that Steve played for SU? Nice to see we are getting back into the Bismarck pipeline with this year's recruiting, as it has a strong UND alumni base. Head football coach at St. Mary's is SU alum and former player. Edit: My bad - CRS issues. (Can't Remember Sh*t).
