  1. Now it appears Orender is NOT coming after all. Bizarre. I seriously wonder if the coaches read his tweets yesterday and pulled the offer?
  2. 85-57 final
  3. Now 79-46.
  4. Not sure if we're the same as last year on the road, or worse, but we're definitely not any better, which is a disappointment IMO.
  5. Getting out of hand now--65-40. Nobody other than Huff and Mitchell has scored more than 3 points.
  6. 41-31 at the half. Huff and Mitchell have combined for 24 of the 31 points.
  7. I hope so. I really do. But even SFI is questioning whether this kid is the right fit, which seems pretty telling.
  8. Klancher was a red-shirt freshman. I am not aware of a true freshman starting at quarterback at UND in at least the past 30 years.
  9. I suspect not everybody is returning. But I doubt everybody is leaving either. Signing juco quarterbacks in back to back seasons just doesn't sit well with me. I hope I'm wrong.
  10. Fair point, but I think there's a big difference between taking a chance on a local kid with some baggage, and adding a juco quarterback from California who may have some maturity issues, and who may not have a grasp on reality. Hopefully he was kidding when he tweeted that he could have started for any college he's seen this bowl season.
  11. Apparently the UND coaches must have avoided it. A definite lack of maturity and/or common sense is clearly displayed there.
  12. Looks like UND is adding another juco transfer quarterback: http://www.fresnobee.com/2012/01/05/2672425/fresno-citys-orender-wont-pass.html
  13. I have to admit--after the play last year of the true freshman class, and some of the hype surrounding Gentry and Antwi coming in, I really expected one or both to at least approach the level of play shown by Huff, Webb and Anderson last year. It hasn't even been close. When you combine their apparent unwillingness to red-shirt (aside from Benton), the suspensions earlier this season, and the lack of production on the court, it has not been a good start for this particular class.
  14. UND up 56-43 with about 7 minutes to go. Considering some of the teams that have hammered Mayville this year (Dakota St., Dakota Wesleyan, Morningside, Minnesota-Morris, etc.), this seems like a pretty disappointing result.
  15. The more I think about it, the more skeptical I am that Pride will be able to find an FCS school willing to give him a scholarship to play quarterback. Many would probably be interested in him as a receiver or athlete, however.
  16. Great. Antwi and Gentry are averaging 1.3 and .8 ppg respectively, AND they can't follow team rules?
  17. Pride seems like a logical guess. The Strib article about his transfer said he's been in contact with Indiana St. "and a handful of other FCS schools". He's from the twin cities, and prior to his senior year played at Cretin--with Shea Walker and Joe Kleason--so you'd think UND would make as much or more sense than Indiana St. EDIT: It sounds like it's somebody other than Pride.
  18. According to Oskie from SFI, an FBS quarterback looking to transfer has been in contact with UND. I have no idea how serious the mutual interest is, or who the player is, but it may be something to watch for in the next few weeks.
  19. Just to clarify, I gave my perception of what Miller was getting at. The transcript of the chat can be read here: http://www.grandfork...s/undsportschat so people can draw their own conclusions. It's his response to the question of why the Herald doesn't handle football verbal commitments similar to how Schlossman reports hockey verbal commitments that I found especially telling.
  20. In the Herald live chat today, the question was asked why the Herald hasn't had anything on any of the commitments besides Mollberg and Labat. Tom Miller's answer was pretty interesting. Or should I say his non-answer. Basically, it doesn't sound like Muss wants the info in the media. Obviously the info eventually gets out anyway via SFI, rivals, scout, etc., so I'm not sure I understand Muss's reasoning. Oh, well.
  21. DB Charles Elmore from Chicago St. Rita H.S. will apparently be visiting UND the weekend of January 13: http://rivals.yahoo....college_choices
  22. New commitment--Dan Konowalski from Waukesha, WI: http://siouxfb.areavoices.com/2011/12/21/dan-konowalski-waukesha-wi/
  23. At the risk of stating the obvious, I'll say an area of improvement needs to be learning to win on the road. UND's road record during the transition has been abysmal--10-35. That record includes true road games, and not neutral court games. The three most impressive road wins have been UMKC (2008-09), Utah Valley (2009-10) and USD (2010-11). I realize virtually every team plays better at home than on the road, but I doubt there are many teams with a bigger disparity between their home and road winning percentages than what UND has done since 2008-09: .673 at home .222 on the road
  24. That was a neutral court game, in Idaho.
  25. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe UND has just one road win over a tournament eligible dI team since the start of the transition--at UMKC in the 2008-09 season opener. Granted, that's probably not all that surprising given the talent level of the 2008-09 and 2009-10 teams, and the youth of last year's team. It's a little more difficult to explain this year.
