  1. Izzo just tweeted that Ben Lauer is going to Minnesota. Seems like a lot of full-scholarship-type FCS prospects are going the FBS preferred walk-on route this year for some reason.
  2. I also was forwarded the above-referenced e-mail yesterday. Crazy stuff. Almost sounds like the movie "Tombstone". I honestly feel sorry for the longtime residents. Sure, some are making a lot of money, but whether it's worth the (lack of) quality of life is questionable at best... I went to law school at UND in the mid-1990's with a guy from Williston who used to talk about the "boom years", and how much things changed for the locals during that time. Clearly those years pale in comparison to what's going on now.
  3. UND offeree Ben Holcomb has committed to Minnesota, presumably as a preferred walk-on.
  4. Kolpack just tweeted that Roebuck is retiring at the end of the season. I had heard about this earlier today, but didn't want to post without confirmation.
  5. Press release on mid-year transfers, including LB Derrick Goard: http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=205365316
  6. UND has a stretch of six consecutive road games coming up in a couple of weeks. Depending on how you look at it, it's either a great opportunity to reverse a disturbing trend on the road, or...well, you know.

    Tim Tibesar

Congrats to Tim--new d coordinator at Purdue.
  8. Harvard's RPI is 144. This was a very good win.
  9. Vandrovec just tweeted that Charles Elmore has committed to SDSU.
  10. Big Sky just announced a new DirecTV deal to produce and televise up to 18 football games per year through Root Sports. All in HD.
  11. According to scout.com, Casey Jahn has committed to Northern Arizona.
  12. SFI blog on upcoming recruiting weekend: http://siouxfb.areavoices.com/
  13. You would think that's the case, but I'm not overly optimistic considering the question has been asked a number of times on the Wednesday Herald live chats, and every time Wayne Nelson has answered that he does not believe the SD Mines game will be replaced.
  14. Here's an interesting tweet about something that could potentially have a huge impact on FCS:
  15. He did.
  16. Per latest SFI blog, Ross Dzuris has committed to Nebraska as a preferred walk-on. It seems like we've lost a number of kids over the past four or five years to preferred walk-on opportunities at both Nebraska and Wisconsin.
  17. Wow--this is quite a surprise! Hanson was a 3-star prospect by both rivals and scout coming of high school.
  18. I think the difference is that it's evidently made abundantly clear in football that unless a kid is actually going to play, he's going to red shirt. I don't recall a single instance where a football player did not red shirt, and did not play enough to be on the travel squad. I realize basketball is different, in that it's not so much of a given that a kid is going to red shirt. In the case of Antwi, I believe it was fully expected that he'd be a pretty big contributor this year. Not so sure about Gentry, although he was arguably more highly-ranked as a high school player than anybody else on the team right now, aside from perhaps Huff.
  19. DB Sam Foltz from Grand Island (NE) has been offered, and will be visiting UND on the weekend of January 20. He's a rivals 2-star prospect, and also has offers from USD and SDSU: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Sam-Foltz-122093?colleges=show#college_choices
  20. UND Fan--please delete some messages from your p.m. inbox. It's apparently full so you can't receive any new ones.
  21. I believe it was said, or at least strongly implied. I guess basketball must be quite different from football in that regard.
  22. This seems like a potential problem to me. I'm not questioning the decision by the coaches--just how it's going to be received by kids who apparently weren't mature enough to understand that red-shirting would have been in their best interests.
  23. Injured, or suspended again?
  24. As I see it, some progress has been made this year in terms of how the team has played at home for the most part. However, the road play continues to be a big problem, and there's really no sugarcoating that. While I certainly do not expect wins at teams like Kansas or New Mexico, the fact that we can't win at UMKC (USD won there tonight by 19) or Idaho St. (Montana won there by 24) is quite disappointing, as is the lengthy non-conference road losing streak.
