  1. There are definitely fewer houses on the market right now in Grand Forks than what we've seen the past several years. That is likely due to a combination of factors, but people moving east from western ND could certainly be a part of it.
  2. Are a lot of the locals leaving, or at least seriously considering leaving?
  3. Counting the jucos, I believe UND is up to 15 commitments. I would expect maybe five more--two or three of which would presumably be offensive lineman, plus perhaps a running back.
  4. Per scout.com and SFI, WR Anthony Fletcher has committed to UND: http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=5434715
  5. SFI blog entry on the Golladay commitment: http://siouxfb.areavoices.com/ I'm probably over-analyzing this, but it seems odd to me that Golladay and his high school teammate Charles Elmore both visited UND on the same weekend, and presumably the visit had to be decent in order for Golladay to commit, but we did not get Elmore, who committed to SDSU. Obviously Chicago to Grand Forks would be an adjustment for almost anybody, but you would think far less so than Chicago to Brookings. And yes, I realize other factors could be in play such as the fact that he'll be playing once or twice per year in the state of Illinois, and the fact that a certain major may be offered at SDSU but not UND.
  6. OL Austin Farnlof has committed to NDSU. UND had reportedly offered.
  7. ESPN is now reporting that Paterno died this morning.
  8. Multiple sources are claiming Joe Paterno died tonight.
  9. Idalski is suspended tonight: http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/227249/group/homepage/
  10. Turnovers, poor shot selection and poor shooting. This game is brutal...
  11. I haven't seen a lot of games this year, but based on this game it's not difficult to see why UND's shooting percentage is so low this season (37%).
  12. Pretty ugly game so far. Lots of turnovers and not much offensive flow.
  13. UND starting four guards 5'8" or shorter.
  14. It's hard to overstate what Roebuck has accomplished at UND. For example, among the dI and dII women's basketball coaches with 600 or more wins, the only two with a higher career winning percentage than Roebuck are Summitt and Auriemma. That's extremely impressive.
  15. Izzo just tweeted that Ben Lauer is going to Minnesota. Seems like a lot of full-scholarship-type FCS prospects are going the FBS preferred walk-on route this year for some reason.
  16. I also was forwarded the above-referenced e-mail yesterday. Crazy stuff. Almost sounds like the movie "Tombstone". I honestly feel sorry for the longtime residents. Sure, some are making a lot of money, but whether it's worth the (lack of) quality of life is questionable at best... I went to law school at UND in the mid-1990's with a guy from Williston who used to talk about the "boom years", and how much things changed for the locals during that time. Clearly those years pale in comparison to what's going on now.
  17. UND offeree Ben Holcomb has committed to Minnesota, presumably as a preferred walk-on.
  18. Kolpack just tweeted that Roebuck is retiring at the end of the season. I had heard about this earlier today, but didn't want to post without confirmation.
  19. Press release on mid-year transfers, including LB Derrick Goard: http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=205365316
  20. UND has a stretch of six consecutive road games coming up in a couple of weeks. Depending on how you look at it, it's either a great opportunity to reverse a disturbing trend on the road, or...well, you know.

    Tim Tibesar

Congrats to Tim--new d coordinator at Purdue.
  22. Harvard's RPI is 144. This was a very good win.
  23. Vandrovec just tweeted that Charles Elmore has committed to SDSU.
  24. Big Sky just announced a new DirecTV deal to produce and televise up to 18 football games per year through Root Sports. All in HD.
